Title: Our Linebackers
Post by: steve dave on September 09, 2013, 01:44:46 PM
I thought that they were going to be absolutely awful and they are worse than I thought they were going to be (so far). Tre, God bless him, is just terrible at football now.

well no crap, dax.

the only thing we can do now is get moore on the field in place of the two senior captains who are failing the team by taking his snaps.

Ted Sims had 50 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks, and a pick his senior year. I would take that production over whatever Tre will give us this year in a heartbeat.

He would be better at safety. I just don't think he's big enough to be all that great at LB. Hubert would probably be pretty good, though.

If Sams can solidify himself as a "slash" on offense and a "linebacker" on defense I am totally fine with it.

The kid has skills and if he can play on both sides of the ball than we, as fan base, should be open to the idea.

lol, no he won't. His best year was as a sophomore, where he recorded 0 sacks and 0 picks to go along with 3.5 TFL's and 52 tackles...and that was before the injury. Last year, where he was healthy for a majority of the season, he had 19 tackles / 3 TFL's / 0 sacks / 0 picks. Ted Sims was not a good linebacker, but Tre Walker is worse.

Save me a seat in the "Slaughter sucks" camp. He is probably the worst LB we've trotted on the field in the whole Snyder era. He got trucked by every RB he's faced this year and always tackles falling backward, thus giving the offense more yardage. Just absolutely terrible.

I didn't see anything at the game, but watched a replay this morning and on one play he is in his stance, looks down, and you see him puke a lot of fluid, then looks back up as the ball is hiked.

People keep talking about how the backups looked faster without any regard of the fact that they were chasing an offense that was on the field for like literally 80 snaps before that.

My biggest takeaway was that Eli Sullivan looks skinny and Jayd Kirby seemed more disruptive than his stats indicated.

The LB's had poor gap discipline. That can be fixed.

I would like to see Elijah Walker move up to LB.  He is aggressive and plays fast.  He is a difference maker.  Kirby is ok and Tanking is a great backup LB.  He just disappears in the game.  Need to play Sullivan or bring up Walker.  Lamur made the change.

I would like to see Elijah Walker move up to LB.  He is aggressive and plays fast.  He is a difference maker.  Kirby is ok and Tanking is a great backup LB.  He just disappears in the game.  Need to play Sullivan or bring up Walker.  Lamur made the change.

Have you ever seen Snyder praise a superior athlete in a presser only to never see said superior athlete play a meaningful down in the season?

Tanking and Kirby played way better today. Sullivan is a far superior athlete though. I'm not sure whether Hughes bring much more than Tanking.

X & O Analysis:  I was seated in the NEZ for this game. It seems to me that when plays are either designed to go outside or are bounced outside LB #58 lacks the speed to prevent the corner from being turned.  LB #3 seems much faster sideline to sideline. /X & O Analysis

I predict Tanking and Sullivan will be our starters for Baylor.

Where is Sizelove in all this? I seem to remember him being talked about leading up to the first game. Or am I just imagining that?

Yea, I have seen him on special teams. I just didn't think he would be playing behind the 2nd team guys (who should be starters).
