Title: Stan Weber Report
Post by: steve dave on September 06, 2013, 08:51:05 AM
Biggest concern?  Play-makers to make plays at critical times in game (3rd down on defense for example and just 2-10 on offensive 3rd down conversions).

Are there similarities with 2003 situation (two losing seasons in a row)?  One difference is the 2003 situation actually started in 2001.  Kids started taking bowls for granted, just took a while to catch up to them (2004).  Stan doesn't have same concerns with this team.

What do you know about LL?  Very good offensive team.  Won 9 games each of last two years.  Dual threat QB is tough runner and pretty good passer.  OL has some turnover....struggled against Ark.  But, important to note, Ark. didn't really just dominate.  Was more like a play here and a play their.

Prediction:  KSU 38 LL 27.

That doesn't cover the spread, does it?  (at least it's a W)

I'm no radio announce type guy, but I'm pretty sure taking bowls for granted wasn't why the 2004/2005 teams sucked.

Yeah I know, but it's fun to just worry about how much we're going to blow a team out. But really, just like the loss last week, it's less about the game itself, but more about the worrying about completely sucking the rest of the season. If we win by a blow out, I can...for at least a week....tell myself we're going to be ok and NDSU loss was a fluke. We lose again or scrape by with a win, and I don't get to bliss of feeling like everything is going to be ok. Ya know?

if we "close game" our way to 7ish wins, that'd be a fun year

In all seriousness, "close gaming" catches up w/ you. Synder was awful at close games during the DoD.

Exactly. Close games are awesome when you win most of them. The season becomes pukey pretty fast when you only end up winning 4 or 5. Remember 2004? Almost every loss was by 10 or less. Not fun.

OL has some turnover....struggled against Ark.  But, important to note, Ark. didn't really just dominate.  Was more like a play here and a play their.

Watched a lot of the ULL @ Arky game.  The key for Arky was they were able to move the ball, and key was their new RB who really was good at finding seams have pulling of some quality gains were there may not have been a lot there for another back.

Makes me a bit more nervous after last week and how the KSU run game did vs. the Canadians.
