He is an unconfident loser

The best seasons of Snyder's tenure have come with running QB's who could pass a little. So let's go with the passer from an Iowa Juco in 2013??
It's quite obvious, that the only way John "tap dancer" Hubert who is small and slow is going to do anything this year, is to have a QB who can run in the backfield with him. That's the only reason he did anything in the last two years. But hey, he gets his assignments, and Waters knows the playbook better and in LHC Bill Snyder's world, that's more important than actual talent.
-
He is an unconfident loser
He was running for his life on every play. Even when he scrambled for that 1st down Taylor stood right in his way staring at him like an idiot.

yeah, and he sucks at running for his life, so he can't play in this offense

So we need Barry Sanders to run this offense?
Sounds like a coaching problem.

Did Snyder ever way Waters knows the playbook better or are you just projecting what you read on GPC into something he did actually say?

This is Waters Stats from Iowa Western last year.
Year Att Yds Avg TD PA PC Pct Yds TD Int
2012 (JC) 12 52 256 4.9 6 333 244 73.3 3,501 39 3
not to bad, until you look at this
Year No Yds Avg TD Lg
2012 (JC) 12 100 1,626 16.3 25 90
That is the stat line of the top JUCO in WR in the nation last year Deon Long. 25 of Waters 39 TD's went to this guy... 100 of his 244 passes, 46% of his yards to this 5 star wide out he had. Not only that the WR he was throwing to, took it to the house one in every 4 catches...
It's time for #Life...

:Haha: @ all the tools that think they have a better qb evaluation than snyd's.
Waters is an incredible passer. #life throws into double coverage like it's fashionable.

Snyder in his postgame press conference came out and said that Sams should be playing more after being asked a question about Waters. Nobody in the press even mentioned Sams, yet Snyder said he did a poor job coaching by not putting him in the game. You are the one questioning Snyder here. Everyone else is agreeing with him that he did a horrible job coaching his team in week 1.

Holy crap, what an amazingly dumb stat, even worse because it was given with no context :flush:

Let's be real. If Sams did it, throwing into double coverage would become fashionable.
-
I would be fine with sams trying it. I mean, at least then we could end this bullshit waters discussion and either realize that sams has an arm or realize that things need to go back to our normal running offense.
-
Unless Leverett is hurt or something, I'd be surprised if we don't see Sams and Leverett in the backfield by the time the KU game rolls around in November.
Sams is going to start, eventually. This little song and dance is temporary. It cost us a game, and I think Bill knows that. It's why he said what he did in the press conference.
He tried to Marc Dunn Sams, but Daniel didn't need that bullshit. He needs snaps, and we need him in the game. It's time to accept the inevitable.

Not starting Sams wasn't the reason we lost. JFC.

We lost because we threw about 1000 passes and only scored 21 points.

I understand why we lost. The OL and coaching was awful. I do agree that Sams should've had more snaps, but starting him wouldn't have won us the game. Having him take over for a couple of series might have.

Our O-Line couldn't open a lane when they plugged the strong side A/B/C gaps while playing soft zone. Having Sams play would have forced them to put another LB at the LOS shutting our run game down more so than it was last night and Sams isn't accurate enough to take advantage of the man coverage.
The only way it would have worked is if we had Sams and Waters on the field at the same time and switched at QB without substituting, forcing them to keep the same personnel on the field.
When Sams came in on Fri night they noticed and subbed out from a 3-4-4 to a 4-3-4 which was effective on his second run.

Why isn't Sams accurate enough? Is it his 75% completion percentage or the impressive throws in the Spring Game?
Or are we just accepting the Tim Fitzgerald, "He's black so he can't throw," meme?

:sdeek:
Are you drunk?
We lost the game because Snyder tried to Snyderball NDSU. After seeing the Bison in person, we just tried to Snyderball ISU and it backfired. We're going to see more SAMs in the next two games is Bill wants to just run his 13 out of conference plays before unleashing Waters' arm full time against Texas.
We're probably going to see a very similar offense to what we ran with Beasley at the helm. Possibly with Leverett as a downhill 3 yards and a cloud of dust type back.

most of you should stick to waiting to develop your arguments until after seeing the _fan frames for the week

After one week of D-1 Football.
Jake Waters is 29th in QB Rating. 162.5
22nd in Completion % 72.4 %
21st in Yards / Attempt 9.7 yards
I am not saying that Sams couldn't be better than Waters (I don't know).
I am saying that I have good evidence to believe that Waters is good and is going to be really good. (especially if allowed to play a style that suits him)

I agree Waters could put up great numbers in a system with big physical guys to throw to. Imagine him at a dink n dunk 5 wide system... But that's not us, our line is designed to punch you in the throat, step on your nuts on the way by and only agree to stop in exchange for your first born.
Based on the game there are a few things that are usually positives that didn't look to positive
1- Waters head was always up looking down field to find an open man, that's how he got the first Touch Down, that throw was a thing of beauty! That being said he doesn't seem to know when to tuck it and run, and to just run.
2- He didn't seem to understand checks and play action. I thought the point of the play action was to have the run set up the pass, he ran more pa than actual running plays, on a few of them he faked to the wrong side, how many times did Finney ever have a bad snap before that game, or the line seem lost. I think he was missing his checks. If he could get the running game and checks down it could be great..
That being said we are set up at every other position for Sams, we can't put in a system for the quarterback without the right people to run that system. I don't know if we have time for him to develop into what he could be before the season is lost, then have one year with him and one with Sams? Why not start Sams now and build it for the future!

Oh, man. Waters put up way better numbers against an FCS defense than other good QBs did against real football teams. That's shocking.

We were up 14 in the 2nd half. If any of you watertards understood time of possession, you would understand why everyone was screaming for a running qb to take over. Look, jack throws a pretty ball - no one would disagree - but you don't run clock with incomplete passes.

a running QB? what about using that 1st team all big 12 running back you have
-
Waters was 2 for 5 on 3rd down for 5 ypc with a interception, boy much of an argument. If I can find a play by play I would be interested to compare it to Marc Dunn and Bishops first starts.
