AmIRite? Our linebackers are depressingly slow....it's a major problem. Not going to mention that Roberts' pillowy soft coverage was good for ten yards a play for NDSU
-
they are as bad as most people thought they would be. but most people thought they would be pretty awful.

You would have hoped that the redshirt year paid off for him

Last night showed what happens when you don't have an elite linebacker who can come through in the clutch. Based on what I saw last night I question whether any of the three starting linebackers would be starting anywhere else in the BigXII. Their tackling was poor, they don't possess great speed, and their ability to pursue into gaps was poor. Time will tell but this first game is a bad sign if you ask me.

he's like 35 years old. the fact that he has never really seen the field in all that time should have probably clued everyone into his suckiness.

Matt Butler

Practicing against our PUD offense ain't gonna make em any better either
-
Not that stars matter, but hopefully we can get a five star to transfer next season to be the best player on our defense.

These two names ring a bell? Martrell Spaight and Jeff Luc? Missing on these two guys has proven itself to be significant. Luc is starting at Cincy and Spaight at Arkansas. Having these two would have helped out our linebacker play threefold.

We didn't have a scholarship for Luc, remember!

TATER :shakesfist:

Tre is really fun at twitter though

Bill mentioned that all of his kids graduated from K-State, because they wanted to go to K-State . . . or because they got free tuition at K-State. Between Sean Snyder and LHC Bill Snyder they make about $3 million dollars a year, so why is Tate on scholarship when we "didn't have a scholarship left" for Luc?
-
Slaughter on pace for 24 sacks this year!!!!
:U R STUPID:
-
We should move Travis Green to LB. He is significantly faster than anyone there and roughly the size of Jonathan Truman. We don't need the depth at safety.

I was thinking we should load Zimmerman up on roids and put him at LB.
-
Just a fyi, but zims was dogshit last night too. Both td passes were on or over him. The Tetuan-Watts syndrome strikes again.
-

One player who is significantly faster than our starting linebackers. One player who can close in on holes to help stuff the run. One player who possesses the athleticism and hip movement needed at linebacker in today's game. Just one player?...lmao.

Something worth trying. Green and Dakorey Johnson are both faster than Slaughter and Truman for sure.
-
If you're not Zims (not his best game), Evans, or Britz then GTFO
-
Everyone not dumb knew the defense would be horrible. Not everyone knew the o line would be owned by a fcs school.
-
What happens next week when the QB can actually run????
-

^^ Truth...he was late on his reads on both TD passes...pathetically late

we lose again?

I think blitzing everyone that close to the goal line was the issue on the first one. Any pass play that close is going to be a quick one because there is nowhere for receivers to run after 3 seconds. Blitzing just took the linebackers out of the play.

No crap

Exactly, I bought the o-line hype

I'll counter that your logic is sound...but the coaches know this, and did blitz the LB with the expectation for Zim to be in position to fill that weak point in the field vacated by the LB's...which he did not do

I'm not completely absolving Zim, just pointing out he was put in a tough spot there. He mumped up too, though.

Time will tell but at least we have 2 stud QB's, unlike '04 when we had Dyls (RIP) and Webb. I think this year's team is more talented overall as well.

I was being facetious. The "good grief, it's just one player we'll be fine" bit is one of the dumbest tuckisms out there that continually defends our crap recruiting.

Defense pretty much as advertised...but it exceeded my expectations, and not in a feel good way..

Branden Archer would look like Gary Spani compared to the linebackers this year.

This guy is starting at linebacker for the Redskins right now.

Don't they have a shitty, D?

Below average? They have Josh Norman don't know anyone else.

Emmanuel Lamur is in the league and Arthur Brown can't find a spot on a roster. The NFL is a tricky place.

yeah, he was the perfect college linebacker.
-
I thought he'd make a perfect Safety in the NFL.
-
Not built like a safety, NFL safety's are super lengthy or super fast or both.
-
yeah, he was quick but not fast. like, his burst when he decided he was bursting was amaze. but he ran a meh 40 time. at least meh for NFL safety. not like meh for college LB.
-
I still like abjr

I love him. he's the best KSU LB of all time.
-
EL has a better NFL build.
-
He'll struggle with size too.
