This will be a pud team we can bouce back against, right?

:frown:

We will find out in Fayetteville today :shy:

Uhh, no, ULL isn't going to be a pushover. I've said since April that this Cajuns team will be the most difficult team we play in the non-conference. If we play like we did last night the Cajuns will most surely beat us. I wish Sams would have seen the ball more last night.
-
crap. We might lose again
-
I couldn't do anything but laugh if we go 0-2. Next week is sort of a win/win.
-
Sean Snyder is going to lose his birthright this year.
-
if anything, yesterday should hopefully kill the idea that sean should take over anything.

It makes me happy that he personally lost everything, but I now have to acknowledge that KSU is done at football

Best team in Sun Belt
We currently own a losing streak to them thanks to incredibly shitty QB play in 2009
They have a run game QB named Terrance Broadway that averaged 6.2 yards per carry
Wildly athletic defense and a stud young head coach that lets the players dance
They play at Arkansas 3 PM today

After they beat Arkansas today, ULL is going to come to Manhattan with a ton of confidence next week. Someone else in this thread already said it, but ULL is probably the best team on our noncon slate.

i'm already counting this as a loss
-
Here's the scary thing: we could be worse than 2004.
-
I'm just hoping for 6 wins now. :No pity:
-
ULL is a much better team that NDSU. They apparently have better talent than we do and if we don't control the ball and the clock then we are going to lose just like we lost last night.
-
Oh we're definitely going to lose. I'm not goEMAW'ing here, I really believe it.
-

I think we can beat them, but it's going to take a good game plan and we are definitely going to have to control the clock with our offense. We need to limit the time our defense sees the field to about 20-25 minutes tops.
-
Here's the scary thing: we could be worse than 2004.
Look at it this way, in the awful 2004 we did beat a good 1-AA in Western KY and beat Louisiana Lafayette, two less wins right there.
2004 wins- WKY, ULL, NU, MU

We have umass and wvu. Then games like ku and isu as toss ups. The rest are losses.

Do you guys think Zim may still remember how to play QB? May need that.

False. They have a damn good QB.

Sheesh, QBs are fine. Can he play rb, oline, dline, or linebacker would be a better question.

Guys, Bill's teams always show the most improvement from week 1 to week 2. We will beat ULL and wonder why we ever thought we wouldn't. Coach Hays is in the film room right now just figuring out how to stop this high powered ragin cajun offense and I wouldn't bet against him.
-
Do we have defensive players that didn't play last night?

We could always just play Sams both ways and move Hubert to OLB.
-
why don't we just try to recruit elite players so this doesn't happen?
-
looks like ULL sucks. but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll beat them...

Omens 2004
Week 1 Beat Western KY
Week 2 Curb stomped by Fresno
2009
Week 1 Barely beat U Mass
Week 2 Lost at Louisiana
-
They gave up 522 yards today
-

And nearly 300 yards on the ground. Sams needs to play a lot more next week.

Would take

Kstate needs to win this game to improve NDSU's shot at a BCS game.

NDSU wouldn't even be bowl eligible this year if they played K-State's schedule..

Tom likely worked all night. I drove by The Bill around 7:30 tonight...Coach Snyder's vehicle was there. No surprise. He probably won't eat or sleep until we beat ULL.
-
This last game is probably eating him alive.

Denied. Bill doesn't pass out. Chuck Norris might, but not Bill.

If the posters on this blog were the 2013 tackle football Cats, you'd be a linebacker..

Jesus eff guys, I hate to read goEMAW after we lose. Looks and sounds like most of you cry babies would disown your momma if she so much as farted in church. Come on, grow some balls. Be proud of our coaches and team; we are KSU fans, right?
By the way, I think the game was a typical Snyder first game. It's a scrimmage in his mind and he didn't give much eff about it. He looking to see which players can play with over fifty thousand fans cheering and jeering. Next week we will kick the living crap out of a shitty Sun Belt team.
After the win, most of us will jump on the bandwagon; and of course, some will go into hiding only waiting to strike when we're down.

This. A bunch of the people on this site had the same reaction when we beat EKU a few years ago 7-3. Im with Katdaddy on this one.

No, actually this wasn't a typical LHC Bill Snyder first game because he lost. He's won every single opener since Arizona St. in 1989, but I'm sure you knew that cause you're a huge KSU fan, right?
There is no bandwagon. There is no hiding. This team is dogshit. They are dogshit because their one alleged strength on the team (OL) couldn't handle "different looks" that an FCS team gave. They are dogshit because our coaches still believe we've got a 6'5" running QB back there. They are dogshit because their weaknesses (def front 7) were really rough ridin' weak. I can't imagine how slow it must take Blake Slaughter and Tre Walker to run to the bathroom; they must piss themselves constantly. I mean, did you watch that? We didn't just struggle offensively (like against EKU), out entire rough ridin' team struggled, from out coaches to our defense, to our offense. And we weren't vanilla. There was no holding back. We were running all kinds of crap at them offensively and trying like hell to blitz them defensively.
Sure, this team could get better. I'd like to think that the OL won't play like it's a flag football game. And maybe if Sams gets back there we might stumble into a running game (which might eat more of the clock to put our shitty defense on the field less). But beyond that? we're talking marginal improvement at best with our front 7 because of physical limitations.
Do none of you remember what 2004 looked like?

yes, only we don't have a shitty north to try to scratch a few wins out of.

Zacker, the north is still there, just a couple puds short.

Meh. ISU, KU, WVU are all worse than us and probably Tech too.

Man oh man wouldn't it be sweet to be able to have the buffs and tigers and corn this year to pad the win column.

No, the scary thing is that they aren't worse than us. And tech is in no way worse than us either.
We have (again) gone from fighting for championships to fighting for the cellar. It's amazing. Look at our goddamn roster. It's absurdly awful. There are no answers on it.
-
Look, just getting better at the OL will not solve anything. Against shitty teams? yes. Well, we face one of them this year - Umass. For the remaining teams, we're probably going to have to get a defense that doesn't resemble the vagina of a 60 year old porn star.
-

yes, only we don't have a shitty north to try to scratch a few wins out of.
so not exactly 2004? now I'm just confused.

not trying to be funny. trying to figure out exactly what year it is so I can prepare myself for the inevitable.

It feels oddly enough like every other year besides the past two because of zackers posts.. its like an old worn out broken record
-
The problem with zacker posts is that things never turn out nearly as bad as he forecasts.

I sat right beside him in 2004 at Memorial stadium and the next 6 years turned out almost exactly like he predicted.

zacker, everything is fine, our personnel is fine, everything is fine. we lost to an FCS school, but don't worry, they were a really good FCS school

pfft, the big 12 is incredibly awful this year.

nowhere near as awful as the north was that year.

I think we will win 4 games this year, and I feel like I am being overly optimistic.

He just said that he didn't expect the past two years to be so good. No one did.

Offense has a better potential than in 04.
the whole drop back and fling it around won't work, the oline isn't built for that.

remember when Dylan (rip) came out against OU in 04 (we were 2-3 at that point, with losses to Fresno, A&M, and KU) and we were flinging it around the yard? man, for like a half we had hope.

Ya, no question about that

Sams' WR buddy from high school will rip us up. Probably is upset we don't start #Life

Zacker is the opposite of a homer, consistently pumping gloom instead of sunshine. You know what you're going to get before you read. So, what's the point?

meh. I throw in some sunshine every once in a while. when it's deserved.
I mean, there is the real possibility that this team begins to look more like the '11 team (i.e. offense playing keep away to make up for the shitty defense). But that would require a change at QB and the OL not being awful. Those things can happen.
But that defense. woof. there's really no hope for it when it gets on the field.

I need to rewatch it, but I agree that the offense can get a lot better, even with Waters at QB. I don't recall a lot of 2 back stuff (under center or shotgun/pistol) and honestly that is when Hubert is at his best. We asked him to be an outside zone back, and he doesn't have the shiftiness to do that. If you think back to last year his best play is attacking in zone lead/power, attacking off of zone read, or some power sweep plays off of zone read action. Our running game seemed to feature a lot of one back/gun zone and it failed.
-
We are going to pisspound the University of Louisiana-Lafeyette.

I think they tried some two back sets but keenan decided he wanted to be a spectator so it was usually DOA. Gronk is an awful blocker. Also our TE's got f'ng owned at the LOS. It was all so bad.
-
Playcalling sucks, blocking sucks, and Hubert sucks. Got it. Thanks for the analysis.

it seems to me that sams was designed by god himself to run a zone read offense. as brilliant of an offensive mind as snyder undeniably is, I can't for the life of me figure out why he can't ever seem to adjust his offenses to fit the skills of his most talented qb. it just seems like we occasionally get lucky and get a qb that fits his offense perfectly but he never adjusts his offenses to fit his qb. exhibit a on friday night was the repeated attempts to run draw plays with waters.
-

Yeah, I think they probably will.
-
I didn't watch Arkansas play them, but read that they ran the ball down ULL's throat.
-

I think Bill is going to cut the bull crap this game and run Sams up their ass and have Waters throw more deep balls.
I think he's going to try and piss pound them because he needs the team to realize that they actually can before he loses them.
-
Agreed.
I mean, of we don't "get right" against ULL, we really don't have a chance in our two first conference games (UMASS is garbage and the players know it)
-
Does cutting the bullshit mean not letting sean be the acting HC? If so, I don't think he cuts anything because Bill will be the first to tell you the most important thing an HC does is pick his team up off the mat and get them ready for the next go round. Important coach coaching moment here, guys.
-

I'm probably out of line here, but I think his past clearly shows how important Bill considers his football program in relation to his family.
If Sean starts screwing with the legacy, he's back to chatting with punters and arranging travel schedules.
-
I really hope the absentee father side wins out in this scenario.
-
Ya, I'm totally team big present in birthday to make up for crap fathering because of focus on the job, as it relates to Bill.
I am also very thankful that rough rider wasn't my dad.
Could you guys imagine how mumped up I would be if Bill were my Dad? Wow. Sean is either tougher than shoe leather or a rubber sheets kinda guy.
-
Yeah, daddy complexes all around.
Sean is probably even worse off than the others because he has chosen to work in the fam biz and see dad everyday to try to make dad love him. Hasn't given up.
