So my sister works in Topeka and was going through some old micro film stuff and found a couple of gems. These are all from the 1960s I believe.
First one is about a city council debate to lift the ban of dancing in places that serve beer....City council man says "Its a well known fact he permiscuous(sp) women go to Junction City for their "Contacts" and we dont have that here"
Second and third ones just politically incorrect headlines

I remodeled a 1926 house in Topeka, and under some flooring in a closet that I ripped out were a few pages of the newspaper instead of felt. It was perfectly kept, and I could read it fine. The interesting section was the classifieds with car ads for $50, and apartment ads separated by race. There were also a ton of help wanted for live-in an non-live-in negro nannies, by far the most available job.

Reading through old newspapers and magazines is by far the best part about majoring in history. Hale has a huge collection of microfilm to look through if you ever need to kill an hour or two in between classes.

Working in the University Archives as a townie was by far the best job I ever could've had in collegio.
