didn't want to clog up the recruiting thread with this stuff, but i did want to post my thoughts on the class as a whole.
i'm enthusiastic about the pg. it sucks that he can't play/practice to start, and i imagine there must be concerns about his pg instincts/game mgmt or he'd be more highly rated, but overall he looks like a quality player that kstate was able to steal due to his academic problems.
i'm very down on the transfers. a guy that was a low-efficiency/high volume player on a losing team in a lowish mid-major league and a guy that made absolutely no impact on a team on the same level as kstate. i wouldn't expect either to contribute much to a winning big 12 team and the fact that they eat up three scholarship years to play two makes them even worse. and they can't even really be run off (not ethically, anyways, although ethics never stops coaches).
i'm ok with the other four freshmen. they all seem like reasonable as big 12 recruits. if they were the bottom 4 of a 7 man class, you'd likely consider it a pretty solid class. if a couple of them turn out to be average or better big 12 players and the other two are run off, i don't think you can complain. if one turns out to be another pullen, then you've hit the lottery.
all said, i still am surprised and disappointed with how poorly the staff recruited in their first two years. but the great thing with bball is that even so, a good 2014 class can turn the program right back around.

I like all 3 guards. the rest is trash.

Seriously? I would have bet the farm that it would turn out exactly as it did...I actually posted/tweeted this like a bagillion times. And I agree that the recruiting has been poor.

What do you like about them?

i think Westicles will surprise....and pretty much be indicative of what the Weber era can pull off
i just hope his junior/senior season is under a new coaching staff
-
Westicles is a wildcard. Have heard Edwards has been impressive, really really good athlete. The only thing I know about Brandon Bolden is that he weighs 180 pounds soaking wet.

he was a really, really good athlete at maine, too. not a really, really good bball player though.

that people who know basketball better than I do think they are good at basketball

Bolden is said to be the worst scholarship bball player ever to attend Georgetown. The walk ons played more minutes then he did. Tthe chose not to redshirt him because they knew he wasn't going to be around anyway.
He's a buddy of Jevon Thomas but considering the questions on Thomas' character and past I don't know that we should be going out of our way to surround Jevon with his old buddies.

Who would you call K-States worst scholarship player ever? I don't think you can call a player the worst scholarship player ever until their college basketball career.
-
I think the thing that makes me the most angry about this class is it can really reinforce the old "you can't recruit to Manhattan" bs.
Who would you call K-States worst scholarship player ever?
I would start this discussion with Joe Leonard and suggest we limit it to guys that stayed all 4 years.
-

I think Westicles can be a nice role player who may be able to play the 4.
-
If we had recruited a quality big or not run Diaz off, I wouldn't think this class is quite as depressing. The team is just going to be awful next year, though.

Manny Dies attempted to murder a Collegian writer to death for this very reason.

yes. weber recruited well, at least according to recruit rankings, at ui and kstate had been nationally prominent (well, at least nationally existent) for five-six years. i thought there would be a little bit of a dropoff from his illinois classes, but i didn't think it'd be anything close to this bad.

Considering the 2 main recruits on the staff were either in Germany playing Pro ball or a low major last year, It isn't surprising they were behind in recruiting for 2013.
-
some of you just need to get on board with the oscar train express, next stop- Back to Backville
boo hoo, we didn't sign another wally judge :bawl: too bad, i'll be sipping champagne with our crew of icy gold rock ring wearers.

didn't telep or someone say it would take Weber a few classes to figure out his identity here? That probably explains it.
-
that's such a lame stupid ass excuse. i know you know that, but i had to post it because anyone saying that should be shot in the face with a water gun filled with hot sauce. right in the eyes and nose.
-
anybody who judges weber before taking at least five years to fully analyze the situ is jumping the gun imo. four more years to go.
-
I thought they would have brought in a top 100 by now. I like some of the guards, but with 3 stars you never know.
And the answer to the question is George Hill or Travis Canby.

george >/= ham strickland ?
-
The worst thing about the class is that he didn't target a quality or at least serviceable big, a clear 2013 must, from the start but only got in on an academic risk late.
Oh well, we're going after a number of good ones for 2014, which of course we'll whiff on, too.

I was going to say Travis, but I thought he was a walk on for some reason. He's a rapper now fwiw.
-
also darryl king
-
johnnie williams was, by far, the absolute worst player ever to earn a scholarship at ksu cats.
-
lots of good options to pick from
-
I'd say Richie Terry but he was just the worst starter.
-
george hill was the first that came to mind but johnnnie williams is a good one too. but then again i can't honestly say that either were worse than dax jones. then you've got guys like josh kimm et al. i dunno this is tough. there really needs to be some kind of rules like played four years or recruited out of highschool or something. also daryl king was not that bad he just wasn't that good. also, anybody want me to tell my d king/b king story again? cause i'll do it.
-
Joe Leonard was a rebounding machine compared to Dax Jones, otherwise equally awful. Which, of course, means Dax was worse than big Joe.

P.S. Thanks for your post, sys. Appreciate your input.

I was going to go with Abdul Herrera a.k.a "BIG AS A HOUSE." It hurt to watch him run.
-

My default is George because I remember that he was on a Top 100 list out of HS.

Please tell it again. :excited:

Donnie Wallace was really bad.
