Any other goEMAW cycling fans? Nothing says summer like the sounds of Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen over breakfast.
-
yeah, i like it. scary when they crash. :ohno:
-
Used to watch a bunch when I was in High School after football workouts in the mornings. Now i'll watch on days when i'm at the lake but not really follow anything during the week. The bus thing on Saturday and the little dog yesterday were pretty hilarious.

Yes, on both accounts.
Saturday's finish with the bus and possibly moving the finish line, then the crash, was pretty chaotic. I was hoping Cavendish would win the stage and get to wear the yellow for at least a day.

The Tour just isn't the same without Lance.

I agree. The amount of butthurt that he caused the rest of the world was something special.
-
Maybe I buried my sarcasm to deep.

:cyclist: <- Cyclist's emoticon has not been deleted.

love the tour, but haven't kept up this year. i should probably fix that. in other news, Bobke was on my flight home the other week!
-
I haven't watched the tour much before this year, but I have been watching pretty religiously this summer. It's pretty fun. I like the scenery.
-
Froome :sdeek:
-
Team Sky is going to have to hold it together in the Alps better than they did today or I think Froome could be in trouble. Team Movistar and Quintara looked strong today.
-
Wild stage today.
Ventoux on Sunday. :excited:

Could not believe the time gained by Contador today. Also was glad to see Cavendish finally get one. Does anyone else think this Quintana kid has a chance? He is only 5 minutes back and he crushes in the mountains, could really see some big changes with the upcoming stages.
-
Froome :sdeek: again.
I hope Quintana gets a mountain stage win this week.
-
I've kind of been following along with this year's Tour. Was very interested to see that yesterday's stage included about 20 miles of gravel roads.
-
Electrifying competition in the mountains today.
-
Pogacar put another 0:41 into his lead today. Awesome climb to the finish line after a total of 4000 meters of climbing in today's stage.
-
Very bummed by Girmay's crash today. BUT IT DOES ADD SOME DRAMA!

He posted on the socials that he wasn't seriously injured so I hope he can finish the Tour.
Looks like there are a couple of brutal days of climbing (4k) at the end of the Tour.
Guess they aren't finishing in Paris this year b/c of Olympics?
Judging from the last two mountain stages, it will be very difficult for anyone to overcome Tadej (barring injury, etc).
-
Tadej is just way too strong. But given that the only sprints that matter are the intermediate sprints it could create some more danger for the GC riders and increase the risk of big crashes to the field. Still pulling for Girmay in the green. Jasper is very annoying.

There was just one sprint in yesterday's stage and Girmay won it to add on to his green jersey points. He seemed pretty healthy after his crash.
Absolute monster climbs in the next three stages (3100M, 4400M and 4600M). I don't think there is anyone with the strength to challenge Tadej on those.
-
No change in GC standings after today's (18th) stage.
-
Tadej sewed up the GC on the final mountain stage today. 30km time trial to finish tomorrow.
-
TDF started up last weekend. We'll see if Tadej can repeat. He is a monster.
-
admittedly i've kind of lost track, what's jonas venggerrrgarrd (probably not the correct spelling but maybe?) up to these days?

He's back and he's twice as strong.
He was in a nasty wreck shortly before last year's TDF and wasn't able to match Tadej in the mountains.

My bold prediction is that Jonas will intentionally allow Tadej to take the lead for a stage or 2 just so he can say “caught ya, Pogacar!” Lmao and then he will commence whippin that ass

Tadej takes the yellow jersey after today’s time trial. Monster.

Tadej takes back the yellow jersey after winning Stage 7. He's looking like the man to beat.
-
Tadej survived a crash with 6km to go in the 11th stage yesterday. Remains 29 sec behind Ben Healy from Ireland in the GC standings with over half of the Tour complete.
-
Tadej dominated in the mountains today. Took back the yellow jersey and beat Jonas (2nd place) by 2:10 in the stage.
-
Worth watching the replay of the final stage in Paris today if you get the chance. Awesome scenes of ridings going up and down the Champs Elyses in the rain.
Tadej wins his 4th Tour.
-
I wonder how many watts Wout was putting down on that last climb, guy was hammering

He looked awesome yesterday. That is a steep hill.
Crazy that he finished over 3 hrs behind Tadej for the entire tour.
Reports suggest that during his decisive attack on the final climb of Montmartre in Stage 21 of the 2025 Tour de France, Wout van Aert distanced Tadej Poga?ar by unleashing a powerful surge. While exact wattage figures for this specific effort are not universally published, one source mentions a reported Wout van Aert effort where he sustained 450 watts for 13 minutes during a critical pull for his teammate Simon Yates in a different race. Another source suggests he could maintain 478 watts for 20 minutes. It is also noted that for a professional cyclist, a 20-minute peak power can reach around 424 watts.
Considering the context of a decisive, winning attack on a climb, it is highly likely that Van Aert's power output during his winning move on Stage 21 was significantly high, potentially exceeding these reported averages for shorter, crucial bursts of speed.
