-
LOL completely forgot theres a team called the pelicans now

Nobody wants to draft a KU player cause they do nothing when they get there.

BMack just gave a shout out to his brother who's locked up.
-
Nice shout out to his brother. Adorbs.
-
so happy for ben. :tsc:
-
I thought he was supposed to go #1 even before Noel got hurt? Was supposed to be a lock for #1 after that, right? That's what all my KU friends and the media told me.
-
Poor Ben. Sacramento sucks.
-
Shane Battier sp* sucks at his job.
-
I thought he was supposed to go #1 even before Noel got hurt? Was supposed to be a lock for #1 after that, right? That's what all my KU friends and the media told me.
yea but it depends on what the teams need, Cleveland doesn't need a SG. mclemore will be a stud, watch.

Track record for KU players says the opposite.

He'll get eaten alive in the NBA. If by "stud" you mean end up with a bunch of baby-mommas, you're probably right.

i met bmac at a club in kc and he was telling me how bill self made the players have sex with his wife cindy because he didn't want to and was too busy having sex with the sexy cows that go to ku. bmac was pretty cool but said self's wife gave him a bunch of stds from having sex in her ass. nice guy though, too bad for cindy. yikes. go cats.

too bad you're not even a senior in HS so doubt you were in a club in KC. that's the best story you could come up with? unless he was hanging out at Pillsbury tanning with you.

I heard similar tales from Illinois players during Self's tenure, but less stds and butt sex then. Time I guess. On account of she probably got tired of just regular old protected vaginal sex with various coerced young men and started getting into the raw dog butt sex and then the stds mounted (lol). Can really snow ball on a mistreated older lady like that. Like Bill already gave her stds of the soul you know? Probs also regular stds too. Welp okay go cats.
-
good point about soul std's because I forgot about those. bmac was telling me he also got those because he felt like bill self was like Damien from the movie The Omen and bmac sold his soul.
who knows but I am a pretty good judge of liars versus truth tellers and my gauge was reading 100% truth when he was telling me this stuff.
I feel bad for Cindy but at least she's having fun with the sex partners and stuff (satisfying her needs/desires) so I'm sure she's grateful.

They needed one. I misspoke, they needed 3. They just knew McLemore was not the answer.

We wanted a shooting guard, no doubt about it. But we weren't impressed with what we had seen in Oladipo and especially McLemore.
I mean, you can't make this stuff up.

This draft class is awful. I knew that going in, but seeing the picks is just unbelievable. No wonder college basketball sucked so much ballsacks last year.

yeah. it really is a god awful class. i'm trying to put it into words but honestly there are no words that can appropriately describe how god awful this class is.
-
Honest question: Is it just me or does it seem like during every NBA draft for the past few years everyone's talked about how great NEXT year's draft class will be?
-
They need to let high schoolers enter the draft again. College stunts a lot of these guys. College is not a good place to develop NBA skills. The NBA is a better place.

Current press is that McLemore was a great deal for the Kings. They just have to hope that McLemore doesn't check out for games at a time like he did at ku.

Sacramento Kings:
Overall Grade: A-
No. 7: Ben McLemore, SG, Kansas
It's hard to land the best player in the draft at No. 7, but that's exactly what the Sacramento Kings did when Ben McLemore fell into their laps.
The former Kansas shooting guard has insane offensive potential, reminding many of a younger Ray Allen. He can attack the rim and finish with a thunderous dunk, or he can drill three-pointers off a catch-and-shoot. McLemore doesn't create his own shots yet, but he's quite adept at using screens to free himself from the defense.
Landing McLemore makes re-signing Tyreke Evans less of a priority, but the two could certainly work together in the backcourt.
DeMarcus Cousins is currently dancing with joy because Sacramento just figured out how to spread the court and clear out the paint for him.
-
Cousins will be a great mentor
-
Can't wait for McLemore to drive his Bentley back from Sacramento to hang around Lawrence, the greatest college town of all time.
-
lol, after all that Beems links BleacherReport, who still only gave it an A-. I figured the steal of the draft would be an A.
Not trolling here, B-Mac can't create his own shot. He's got great 3pt% and amazing ability to dunk (when he's on a breakaway and no one can get in front of him) and he disappears for games. He's fun to watch but he's not somebody who's going to take over a game and win it for you (unless you get him open a bunch of times outside the 3pt line).
-
LOL, the Phoenix guy on 810 just said that Suns fans are pissed that they didn't draft McLemore.

Everyone said he sucked in his workouts.
I have read they will make low rated, non lotto type prospects work out against each other. I don't know if it is 1 on 1 or scrimmages set up and controlled by the teams but I could see B-Mac's lack of assertiveness and ball handling really hurting him.
Once Cleveland passed on him I was hoping he would fall all the way to OKC or Dallas, I think he really needs a good organization to be successful. Hopefully the new ownership in Sac will turn things around there.

hes going to get eaten alive on defense and thus probably wont play more than 15 minutes a game.

Pretty much all of your analysis is weak. You say that McLemore can't create his own shot, when in fact he has the ability to hit the pull up jumpshot and get to the rim with authority. You say McLemore can't take over a game, when in fact he scored 30+ points three different times last year (including 30 at home vs. K-State). The kid was playing his first year of college basketball last season... of course he was going to be inconsistent at times. Even at that, McLemore set the all-time KU scoring record for a freshman, while shooting over 43% from 3-point range, 87% from the free throw line, and close to 50% from the floor. You can't coach shooting ability, and you can't coach athleticism. McLemore has the raw ability to be an all-star in the NBA someday. It's just a matter of time before his potential is realized.

Chalmers averaged 17 ppg in the last two games of the NBA Finals and just signed a contract extension with the Heat.

All-Star?

Beems don't you kinda wish he got traded to the Magic and could be coached by Vaughn and be on the same team as Rodney and then everyone in Kansas could be a magic fan and then we could all road trip to a game and go to Epcot Center?

If McLemore got traded to the Magic :crossfingers: Bill Self, Frank Martin, oscar Weber, and Roy Williams would all have the same favorite NBA team. The Magic.

I will admit it though. Bmack was one of my favorite KU players of all time. He didn't throw 'bows or pound his chest. He had a McGruder type of approach to the game. I wish him well. I just wanted to make this thread because all of the squawks who were pounding their chest on how he played his way into the #1 spot.

Well, he did play his way into the #1 spot. He was projected #1 overall at the end of the season. The Cavs didn't want a shooting guard, though, and B-Mac struggled in a few of his workouts. Congrats, I guess?

Yeah, timhawk said the same thing. Why did the Cavs end up drafting 3 SGs and keeping 2 of them if they didn't want one?
-
At the end of the day McLemore doesn't have a great handle and that will stunt his growth as a basketball player.

The Cavs drafted one SG in the 2nd round (Carrick Felix) to provide depth and defensive toughness on the perimeter. Also, the #1 pick is different than just any other pick in the draft. The #1 pick should be a guy that can contribute from day one (hopefully in an area of need), so that's why the Cavs went with a PF. Bennett addresses an area of need for them. They drafted Waiters at SG last year, and also have Kyrie Irving at PG, so they didn't need to draft a SG with the #1 pick. Is this the first time you've ever followed the NBA Draft?

(Winners):
Kings fans. It’s hard to imagine a greater joy than the one Sacramento’s diehards felt when the Kings were saved from relocation, seemingly at the last possible moment. Getting a top-three talent and a possible future All-Star in Ben McLemore at No. 7 should rank right up there, too.
Dispose of any concerns about positional logjams. Changes in ownership, management and a new coach will always bring new ideas to a roster. With McLemore, the new Kings’ brain trust gets a scoring guard with traditional size and significant upside. This train is no longer veering off the rails and McLemore could become the type of player whose talent can carry an organization in the right direction.
-
Rough draft. McLemore has as much potential as anyone in it. Needs to attack the basket more and be more assertive at times, but he is young and can develop. Have to do more than shoot 3s in the NBA as you can get vet minimum guys to do that. If he has a good rookie year in Sacramento, that fanbase will really get behind him.

All-Star?

In a draft that lacks top talent, a draft filled with question marks, McLemore has the most potential to be an NBA All-Star.

That's right, the Sacramento Kings came out winners of an NBA draft.
The Kings got serious value with Ben McLemore at No. 7. He's arguably the top prospect in this entire draft, offering an extremely favorable risk-to-reward ratio.
With McLemore, you get a worst-case scenario consisting of a defensive asset, elite shooter and explosive athlete in the open floor. McLemore has an All-Star ceiling as an elite complementary scorer who can drop 20 in a game without using a dribble.
He projects as the most dangerous shooter in the field, and with the ability to play above the rim, he's going to pick up routine easy buckets.
The Kings might be best off letting Tyreke Evans walk in free agency and starting the McLemore era immediately. Building his confidence as a scorer and allowing him to develop off the dribble might propel him to a new level of basketball stardom.

There's usually a real talent drop after the 6th pick.

OK. Also while we are sharing irrelevant facts, the only people to win the ROTY lower than 6th in the past 25 years had the last name Stoud(a/e)mire :horrorsurprise:

I'm reserving judgement until wikipedia completes their evaluation of the draft.

Nobody wants to draft a KU player cause they do nothing when they get there.
Yeah. Taking Beasley 2nd overall in 2008 really paid off for the Heat! :excited:

It did. They traded their way into a few championships by using his value. Smart organization.

It's crazy how fat McLemore is now.
-
lol, after all that Beems links BleacherReport, who still only gave it an A-.
They gave Sacramento an overall grade on their draft, not just McLemore. You 'taters are so bitter and butthurt that you can't even think straight anymore.
Tell me which part of my analysis is wrong.

Ben McLemore, Kings 14 PTS | 4 REB | 0 AST
McLemore improved his field goal percentage in his second game at summer league, but it wasn't by a lot. Once again McLemore's stroke from distance was way off (1-for-7), and at one point he even fired up back-to-back airballs to the jeers of the crowd. With a dribble-drive game that looked reckless, there was no saving grace to be found. He's pressing right now. -- Foster

So, did you guys ban Tim? That's the only explanation for his sudden disappearance. He would've been all over this in a heartbeat, talking about McMorris' game winning shot and MkMorris' game-leading 22 pts. :dunno:

oh and FYI, summer league is like a glorified AAU tourney, lots of one on one, that's not how BMAC plays. he will be fine at the start of the season.

agreed. very tough to play 1-1 when you have no handles.

BMac is totally going to go all Steve Kerr once all the bullshit AAU 1 on 1 bullshit is over and real basketball can begin.
F' the haters.

If it doesn't suit is game, maybe someone should tell him so he doesn't keep air-balling 3s and shooting 17% from the field.

it's called a slump.

BMack implementing an obvs ropeadope. Look like complete crap through the beginning of summer league, then ramp up starting at midpoint and really end at least mediocre to decent by the end of summer. Coaches will think that he is progressing fast given that he was complete dog for the first half of summer and will then think that given the right coaching he may be able to develop into a decent role player. They will probably then write off the first half of summer league to getting the Bill Selfs out of his system and his ramp up to mediocre from midsummer to the end of summer will be the evidence they point to to help convince themselves that they need to keep this mediocre kid on the roster as a project player.
BMack is a genius. Really doing more with less here, guys.

"It’s sort of uncomfortably paradoxical, but McLemore is working on—completing, soon, probably—one of the most forgettable careers by a top-10 pick in history. (Which will not remember him.) Finishing as a runner-up in the dunk contest in his rookie season* almost certainly is the peak of his time in the NBA; it hasn’t been all downhill from there so much as it’s been all flat and featureless, like Kansas. McLemore’s best pro season was his second: He mustered a personal-best 12.1 points per game—the only time he’s averaged double-digits over a season—and finished, for the only time (so far?) in his career, with a VORP that didn’t have a minus-sign in front of it. Last season, as a relatively low-risk speculative reclamation project in Memphis, he was as terrible as he’s ever been; his scoring average was a career-worst 7.5 per game, and his .526 true shooting percentage ranked 324th in the league. He has (had?) a really nice first step, good elevation on his jumper, and by all appearances absolutely zero interest in being any kind of professional basketball player."
