Title: Great Movie Ideas
Post by: Cartierfor3 on June 25, 2013, 04:59:50 PM
Let's get back on track here folks.

Title: Fair Ball
Basic Plot: Inspirational sports movie about the first woman to play professional baseball. Think rookie of the year meets 42 meets Erin Brockovich. She works her way up to the big leagues and strikes out Miguel Cabrerra (cameo as himself!) to lead the Orioles to the world series in the closing scene.

Important Characters and Actors:
Bud Collins: played by the Dad from that 70s show. Really old coach who is against Kelly playing for him because she is a woman. He is bitter because his own playing career was cut short by an arm injury.
Kelly "Super K" Jenson: Played by Jennifer Lawrence. Flame throwing lefty from a farm in South Dakota. Lots of attitude but a heart of gold on the inside.
Josh Nicks Played by Jake Lacy (google it) The relief pitcher for the Orioles who has tons of talent but can't throw strikes. He keeps getting pulled in big games for Kelly who bails him out and his dad (played by Josh Brolin) yells insults from the stands everytime he fails in a game. Also, the love interest in the movie. He has no confidence until he falls in love with Kelly.

Key scene you gotta have: About 2/3rds of the way in the movie, the Orioles are on a road trip and have a rainout. Josh sees Kelly eating alone at the hotel restaurant and they spend the evening together falling in love. She goes back to her room and puts on a nice dress before they go dancing and Josh realizes she's not just a tom boy but a smokin' babe.

Awesome twist: You find out right before the last game that the old grumpy coach Bud Collins is actually Kelly's real father because of a one night stand on a road trip 24 years ago. Right before they take the field, he says "Kelly...........Sweeite......I'm proud of you, and I love you, now let's get some STRIKEOUTS!" and everyone in the theater just loses it.

Poster looks like: Jennifer Lawrence standing on the pitchers mound and the caption underneath says: She's striking out more than just the other team.

Boom. That's a million dollar idea.

Title: The Cat's Meow

Basic Plot: Graduate student Jimmy Sanders is on the brink of a game-changing scientific discovery when something goes terribly wrong.  Jimmy and his crush's cat, Snickers, change bodies.  Now it is up to Jimmy to change them back - before it's too late!

Important Characters and Actors:

Jimmy Sanders: Michael Cera plays a loveable loser who seeks the affection of his neighbor, Alex Jones.
Alex Jones: Played by Bryce Dallas Howard.
Snickers the Cat: Played by Snickers the Cat!  :D

Key scene you gotta have: When Snickers the Cat (in the body of Jimmy) gets stuck in a tree.  HILARIOUS.

Awesome twist: Alex confides in her cat, not knowing that it is really Jimmy.  She tells the cat that she wishes Jimmy would make a move, because deep down she is a huge nerd, too.

Poster looks like: Michael Cera wearing facepaint to look like a cat.  Underneath, it says "This summer, his plans go purr-fectly wrong!"

It's not a league of their own dork. A league of their own is about a women's league, this is about a woman in a man's league. That old lady can make a cameo as ticket taker or something

Does the cat have an inner monologue the audience can hear (voiced by Michael Cera)

Ghost Town

Plot: A family, not realizing a vacant town is haunted, moves into a house in said town. But then they start noticing some strange things going on.

Important Scene: A bucket at the well is scene moving itself into the water, then up to the top of the well. It appears to turn over, but the water disappears into thin air, as if something is there to catch it.

Ending/Message: The entire movie the family is scared of all these ghosts and what they might do to their family. At the end you find out that they are all really nice and have actually been helping the family (cue a Saw-like montage of clips throughout the movie in which something good happened to the family, except this time you can see the ghost there, helping them out). The message of the movie is not all things that seem bad are actually bad. It is the exact same plot as Casper, but on a bigger scale. Maybe the movie even takes place in a town called Casper, but they don't make it obvious. Like, they just mention at the beginning of the movie off-handed or something.

how did they just NOT notice the whole town is vacant? like who did they buy the house from? a real estate agent ghost? what kind of a bank gives a loan for a house in a ghost town?

answer these questions in the first 5 minutes of the movie and im there.

One of these helpful ghosts set it up for them. But it was all over the phone, through the mail, on the internet, etc, so the family never knew it was a ghost helping them.

oh, so they bought a house over the phone/internet? look, man, this is your movie and all but maybe you should have them like, inherit the house from a beloved grandpa or something. they go to help clean the house for the deceased but fall in love with it, then flash forward to the will reading where the lawyer tells the parents that the grandpa left the house to them. they go to move into the house and everything is perfect.  then boom. ghosts rough ridin' everywhere haunting the house and town... OR SO THEY THINK!

I got one!  :ksu:

Title: Firecycle!
Basic Plot: One motorcycle cop gets suspended from the force for reckless behavior. But then, he uncovers a huge plot to blow up city hall on the night the president is going to give a speech there, who knows how high this thing goes, even the cops might be involved! No one believes him, so he single handily takes on this elite terrorist cell and fights them all and just beats their asses. Oh, and his motorcycle has a flame thrower on it that shoots flames.

Characters and Cast:
Officer Jacob "Firecycle" Stevens: A badass who doesn't listen to his sergeant and gets crap done. He's awesome at fighting and even better and loving. He can do awesome motorcycle jumps. Played by Stone Cold Steve Austin
Kitty Valazquez: Firecycle's love interest. A hot lady who is a District Attorney. She gets captured by the terrorists and then gets rescued. Played by Sophia Vegara
Police Chief Elliot Baxter: Doesn't trust Firecycle and never has. He's a mean old grump. Played by the dad from Family Ties.
Buster Nixon: Leader of the terrorist group "Freedom Killers" who want Christmas banned and burn American Flags for fun. Played by Jim Caviesel

Key Scene: Firecycle thwarts the plan to kill the president, but the terrorists are getting away on a barge, WITH KITTY IN CUSTODY! Firecycle jumps his motorcycle off the dock, shoots his flame thrower lighting the barge on fire, then grabs Kitty in his arms and the motorcycle lands in the water. The barge blows up and then its a water makeout scene with a burning boat in the background.

Twist: Firecycle realizes the plot to kill the president, and calls the Police Chief to tell him, and the Police Chief says yeah we believe you we'll totally do something about this. Then he hangs up, camera zooms out, and HE'S EATING SUSHI WITH THE TERROISTS AND LAUGHING IT UP! He gets shot in the head in the end too so its cool.

Poster: American Flag background, foreground is Stone Cold on the motorcycle shooting his flame thrower. Underneath it says "The only thing he loves more than his woman is freedom, and now he has to protect both"
