"No Nebraska fan likes Texas, but we owe them for several games they stole from us. Yes, you read that right, stole, as in illegally."
-
They still can't get over the correct call at the end of the '09 championship game? Jesus.
-
Guys, some of the funniest moments of sports radio were/are Nebraska postgame shows after they lose. They're not as funny now since they're no longer a national power and haven't won a conference championship in over a decade. They were hilarious in the first few years after Dr. Tom "Is that a gun in my desk" Osbourne retired.
-
they are still funny
-
Nebraska fan butthurt over Texas is one of my favorite things about the Big XII.
-
If you think Nebraska fans are wishing they had stayed now, just wait until they are playing the new group of losers in the West Division. Nebraska football will be boring as hell....granted they should run away with a West title every year.
-
they are still funny
The call in show the night of the Ohio State loss this year was probably the greatest thing I've ever heard on radio. The hosts even turned on each other.
-
Nebraska fan butthurt over Texas is one of my favorite things about the Big XII.
Mizzou fans are even butthurt about UT for whatever reason. Tigerboard is a treat to read.
-
Nubbs actually had it pretty rich for awhile there in the Big 12, Buffies were their only real competition for Nortard titles, and that was only for a few years. Got out of playing tough games with OU every year. It got crappy for them when the 'Cats started beating them every once in awhile, and intolerable when ku hung 76 points on them in 2007. The '09 title game with UT was the last straw, Dr. Tom started looking for a new playground after the refs wouldn't break the rules to let Nebraska win that game.
Nubbs are butthurt about a lot of things in the Big 12. I think they like their new Rust Bowl conference.
-
Tigerboard is a treat to read.
Is it though?

currently engaged to a nebraska grad. I'll be honest, that almost made me second guess myself. I hate going to nebraska games, and I hate when she and her family talk about how glad they are they got out of the big XII. also the texas hate is still there, and always will be. I don't understand it. trying to have a rational conversation with her mother (yes, her mother might be the biggest nubb fan of them all) about the '09 title game is impossible.
I was at the farewell game for Tom this year. :goodbyecruelworld:

you should send her to the games by herself. with any luck, she'll get drunk and hook up with some nebraska firefighter and get pregnant with his fetus and leave you and move into his trailer and start doing meth and end up in the clink, slapped with a 20 to L for armed robbery and attempted murder. good luck bro

So you're saying she wears the pants huh?
I mean if it bothers you call them out on their Texas envy.
-
I can't even begin to comprehend what it's like to be Texas' bitch or butthurt about losing on a legal call/play
Feels good
-
We would've decimated Nubb these last two football seasons...
-
I think some people are confusing butt hurt with a prostate massage.

Pretty foreign concept.

Remember when Gilbert led the Horns into Lincoln and beat a solid NU team in '10? That series is kinda like the CTR for Texas but the opposite

Agreed. They were hilarious because of how the game played out and the how other fan bases reacted to it.
-
The 2011 Aggie game was priceless. When Texas got the ball with enough time left to make one final drive, I just knew they would end up winning it as time expired. Very pleased that A&M's final Big 12 game ended in heartbreak.

How does this list not include 1996 Big 12 title game win vs Nebraska? Nebraska was 10-1 and had an outside shot at going for their 3rd straight natty until they ran into John Mackovick and the 8-3 Texas Longhorns.

That was probably the most emotionally satisfying game I have ever seen that didn't involve the KSU Katz.

One of the few times I've yelled in sheer joy while watching a game I was not attending.
It was an even better moment than when KU lost to Bradley in the NCAAs in 2006 and all the KU fans in my 'hood started roaming the streets and screaming in agony for about an hour and a half.
-
Its funny how all the teams that left the Big XII ('cept Colorado) talk about how glad they are they left the Big XII without ceasing. Like, if they say it enough times it will be true.

I think Mizzou is worst off. What a disaster for them.

I suspect most people don't even realize Colorado is part of the Pac-12. They are so lost there.

Sumlin's a good coach, and a higher profile collegiate program may hire him away, and then A&M will be back to the old Texas A&M. Their timing for a good football year was good, and they look like they'll be really good this year.

Where would he go? He's in the SEC, they are adding on to the stadium, they'll pay to keep him there, he's in Texas. It's a great job if you can stand the cult-like environment.

A&M seems pretty happy to be out of UT's shadow in the SEC.
They had a good year in football.
Guarantee you they wouldn't have done better than 8-4 if they were in the Big 12. A lot of people forget that Aggie gave up 57 points to Louisiana Tech last year. LT runs a pass heavy spread offense (just checked the box score, they threw 59 times vs Aggie). Any defense that isn't Coal Aggie bad can hold the horrible, bland offenses in the SEC to 24 points or less. That meant as long as A&M could put up at least four touchdowns, they would win since SEC offenses are WITB.
The three highest points surrendered by Aggie last year were LT (57), Missouri (29) and Sam Houston State (28). A Sun Belt team, a Big 12 castoff and a 1AA team did better against the Aggie defense than every team in the SEC. Remember how many shootouts Aggie lost in 2011? Same thing would have happened to them in the Big 12 in 2012. They wouldn't have lost as many since Sumlin is a much better coach than Sherman but the way they lose games is either their offense is contained or they get in a shootout. Manziel was shut down early on against Florida and LSU but as the year went on he improved.
I wouldn't be surprised if A&M won the SEC West this year. Outside of Alabama and LSU they don't play anybody else who is capable of shutting down their offense. SEC defenses look surprisingly average when they don't get 6 weeks to prepare for the best offense they're going to see all season, so I'm going to give Aggie the advantage over both those teams. They don't play anyone else with an offense that can keep up with them.

Forgot that A&M was Louisiana Tech's bitch last year, but they did pull it out at the last minute. Sumlin has been offered an NFL head coaching position, and can't help but think that A&M is not his destination job. Manziel is a considered a good QB, but get the feeling that perception is shaped by the A&M win over Alabama. It should be an interesting year from collie cult.
-
Manziel is a helluva QB. I really enjoy watching him play. Thing is his team is playing in a league with not so good QBs on other teams, and good QBs/potent passing games are what give the Aggie defense trouble. McCarron would be nothing without his 5* OL, 5* RBs and 5* defense. Aaron Murray is the only SEC QB not named Manziel who is any good. If A&M had to play against good QBs and solid passing games on a weekly basis in the Big 12, they would have had a few more losses.

Not sure why you don't think A&M is where he wants to be. The guy turned down the Eagles for their head coaching job.

Two things I take from that are #1 Cody Lee was garbage and #2 Rhodes is a huge rough ridin' loser.

Lee sucked, but most of those turnovers were ugly fumbles because the ball carriers were not protecting the ball

I agree. I miss talking football at the bar in KC. While there's an occasional Nebraska/Iowa fan, for the most part this is B12 country. I'm sure it's not a big deal to people in Nebraska...but whether it was at work, the bar, the golf course, etc...football was always the conversation. Now I don't have a horse in the race, so it kind of sucks. Takes away a big part of my enjoyment as a fan.
i definitely miss the regionality of the college game...and its not just me, i travel quite a bit and a lot of people i talk with feel the same way..
i am 47, by the time there is any true rivary and tradition built, ill be an old man
i miss the familiarity of the big 12. i miss the venues and the fans and living in the middlie of it my whole life.
good or bad, money is changing the game.
I miss 2 things, 1. since I live in SE Kansas it's along drive to go to Lincoln for a game, I miss being able to drive an hour to Lawrence every other year.
2. I live around tons of Big XII fans, I miss being able to rub it in their faces when we kicked their teams asses on a yearly basis.
This is exactly the stupid crap i was talking about last year and the year before. Way to be part of ruining CFB, Husker administration and fans. You assholes.
-
would not have guessed that the big 10 has only won one rose bowl in the last 13 years.
that thread is so delicious.
-
texas should be in the boss stud thread.
-
ugh. i hate that nebraska did that. but shame on those fans. the fans are just as much at fault as the administration because those fans got duped into cheering and actively participating in college football's demise because those fans are idiots.
way to go NU, you really showed those Texas people. enjoy your drive to college park maryland, you dumbasses.I miss you guys somuch
-
I would have left too if I couldn't beat Texas, maybe they can move to the mountain west, they should be king there, maybe they could beat bosie st???
-
DUlew12, i miss NU also. MU too. CU and atm can stay gone.

I do not miss it at all. The feel of the conference had a divided feel to it. The South teams did not embrace the games that were going on outside of Texas. Plus I was no longer excited to see the 6 North teams always on the schedule, with just 2 teams from the South. I wished it was more mixed up.
The only thing I care about it now is that TCU joined and that they keep hammering Texas each year. So glad the Frogs took down UT in Austin last year. Also, you would think the Big 12 has to wonder why they chose WV over Louisville for their 12th team. Or maybe they did know Louisville was better than WV in football, hoops (men and women) and baseball.
And just look at the scheduling. To welcome TCU to the conference, they sure made their point to give the Horned Frogs in consecutive weeks: @Okie State, @West Virginia, Kansas State, @Texas, Oklahoma. That kind of crap is why I am glad NU is no longer there.
This year look at a four week stretch scheduled between Texas and TCU:
Texas: OU, bye week, @TCU, Kansas
TCU: Kansas, @Oklahoma State, Texas, West Virginia
UT's schedule is more favorable. By accident? My thoughts are that the head office does not want TCU and WV to come into the conference without knowing who the big boys are (UT/OU). They will do their best to take away any hope, by making things difficult their first several years in the conference by getting beat down. That way they can take their place as the 2nd tier group.
I have lived here in Texas most of my life, so you would think someone like me would miss it. But if you put on the local news, the teams from the North were hardly mentioned. Even the scores came across as more of a footnote.

I know this is on the football board but UT will get to make the entire state of Nebraska cry again. This time it will be UT volleyball tomorrow night in the National Championship game in Omaha. I hope they lose in the most painful way possible, like I hope they come back from a huge deficit to force a fifth set, then overcome a huge deficit in that set only to lose 17-15 on a controversial call.
