Title: The devolution of K-State basketball, and the stupidity of those that allow it.
Post by: wabash909 on April 23, 2013, 07:04:25 AM
For those of you that didn't have the pleasure of living the Asbury/Wooldridge era firsthand where our university leadership raped our basketball program in front of our faces and the fan base indifferently enabled it, now you're going to get to see the real depths of mediocrity that our undeserving fan base will sink to.

So, crack open a Red Bull and enjoy the ride.  This is only the beginning...

Remember when....
1.    Huggs left the program and we were going to suck because we sold out to a coach who had never had a HC job beyond high school?  All hope was lost.  But then we became a consistent top 25 team and almost went to a Final Four.

2.    Remember when Frank left and we were going to suck even worse because we hired a fired coach from Illinois who absolutely bombed the opening press conference?  It was over.  But then we won the conference.

3.    Remember when Michael Beasley and Bill Walker left and we had no clue how we would score with just a spunky undersized shooting guard from IL?

Here's the point.  Programs are stronger than people.  Strong than any one coach.  Stronger than any one player.  Have some faith people.  This is not 1989.

That's much more than a good post.  It pretty much sums up why we follow the Wildcats.  Excellent!

Losing Angel sucks BIG TIME but if there is any loss Weber can handle...
it is to a PG.  I don't think despite Angel's success he is Weber's ideal guard style.....will be interesting to watch.

Why we will be okay and crying over Angel is pointless
Angel was a three star player who was unranked, the same Angel who most of you are crying about leaving and how bad our basketball team will be without him. Without that unranked three star player our team will fall apart because the incoming unranked three star players are garbage.  Give oscar a chance with his guys, he made Angel a better player the Frank did and Angel wasn't even one of his players.

Angel was fine player and it would have been huge to have him but complaining about him leaving because we are not landing four and five star players is just ridiculous.  We have guys coming in that are getting better "rankings" than Angel did.  Wait two year before you start talking about the sky falling.

if there's one person to blame in this mess, it's certainly not the player that's chosen to leave.

I HAVE NO DIRECT KNOWLEDGE OF THE SITUATION BUT I BLAME oscar.

4.  Remember when oscar Weber won a Big XII Title with the previous coaching staff's players, and the best returning player left in the off-season and the program was left without a single Division One point guard on the roster and we were picked to finish in 9th place in the league the following year ahead of TCU?  Was it was over then?  But, then we finished 9th in the league only ahead of TCU and missed the NIT and everybody stopped making stupid analogies because we stopped caring about basketball again.

Here's the point, programs are stronger than people and athletic directors are stronger than coaches.  And if you allow a basketball program to crumble you can always build a castle for football and the vast majority of people are too stupid to care.

I'm pretty sure those guys would excuse this even if we were having down years in football.

Hopefully we are picked at least 8th. I would hate to see oscar beat his preseason expectations by finishing ahead of Tech and TCU.

Totally missing the "we can't have nice things" talking point, even though that usually involves losing a coach.

the key take away is that we need to add more spunky players to our roster

LOL at that dumbass calling Jake spunky.  Spunky is a term used for non-talented energy players.  Kinda like "coaches son".  Will is spunky.  Jake was a talented bearded assassin that told the NIT to go eff itself and to GTFOOHF on national television.  That isn't spunky.

eff Southpaw for saying that.

If there was a spunkiest player award, the winner last year would've been Nino.

Will's award is more like watches the most video/reads the scouting report most thoroughly award.
