When was the last time a team won the Big 12 one year, and finished dead last the following year?  Has it ever happened?

In football, K-State won the Big 12 in 2003, then tied KU for last in the North in 2004.  (BTW, this doesn't bode well for 2013 football...)  Has it ever happened in basketball?

Since 2006 we are second in the Big 12 for most conference wins

We are fine.

If you really think the football team is going to finish last or in the bottom half of the conference this next year, you're high.

Ever played basketball?  There's more to it than just stats.  Depth is important.  Players get tired.  Players get in foul trouble.  Players get hurt.  Having two big men on an entire roster is not a good thing, regardless of how much you want to downplay it.

While Fincher wouldn't have contributed too much next year, I'd bet oscar would tell you that having him "in the system" would have greatly benefited him in the future.

In fact, if we get this kid back after Juco, I'll bet you a crap pile of money that we will hear oscar makes those very excuses about him....."well, he didn't get a chance to develop in our system....."

THE PROPHECY WILL COME TO PASS, oscar WILL REPEAT HIS TIME AT ILLINOIS, AND ALL ARE POWERLESS TO PREVENT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So how many open scholarships are we going to start the season with now?
ZERO... mystery recruit.

My theory is that oscar new Fincher would not qualify and has been keep the mystery recruit under a boulder at the Tuttle Creek Dam....

Also, Fincher's production estimation:

6 min/game (subs in for a big, gets an immediate foul, and comes out right away...does this 6 times/game)
1.3 points/game (hope he can shoot free throws)
.8 Rebounds/game (he will be out of position most times, but one will fall into his lap)
3 to's /game (what frosh big doesn't have hands of stones, right?)
4.2 fouls /game (what frosh big doesn't come it and hack right away, right?)

look, i'd prefer it if kstate's coach thought he could recruit players both capable of playing big 12 bball and qualifying, but he knows his staff better than i do; if they can't, they can't.  of the two, i'm happy when he chooses qualifying risks over ability risks.

Did Weber need another paycheck this bad or does he just hate K-State for beating Keady's best team? I mean other than coaching Frank's players it's obvious he has no appetite for the job or the ability to do it.

oscar is in it for the validation and that alone.  He should have quit after coy and titletown, told everybody to get mumped, he was great all along, puds at Illinois didn't know jack, ceeya, blazed off into the sunset, etc.  Instead he's going to prove his mediocrity all over again (most likely).  Tragic stuff.

God Bless Mr. Bread, may we be tough enough to handle the wisdom he is imparting.

There is a hurricane coming and it is actually worse than I feared. Most of K-State has no idea what is about to hit them this year.

Is mediocrity the right word? How about absolute failure and never making it to a tournament again?   :bang:

Sadly, all he is going to validate two things -- that he can have success with another coach's players (which was already conceded) and that he's an absolute failure in maintaining a program (which wasn't totally conceded but well be very soon).

OK. And we'd want to hire a guy on the NCAA's "show cause" list for what reason? Haven't we discussed this already?

That said, it's late and I'm retiring for the night. Looking forward to resuming this discussion tomorrow...or not.
