when does that beautiful Fiesta Bowl trophy arrive in MHK? :excited:
-
We're undefeated in BCS bowls since Ohio State admitted that Chris Gamble was talking to boosters on the phone during halftime of the 2004 Fiesta Bowl. #titletown
-
1988 Kansas placed on probation following tourney, add that Final 4 banner please

Not to mention Santonio Holmes
-
Hey deputy dawg, should the NCAA not make an example of these self reporters?
-
Can put the BCS bowl talking point to bed.
-
What do you think are chances are of making a BCS game again this year? I'm already looking for ways to acquire some tickets. Incase the alumni club cant provide them.

Pretty mild. If Chip was still there I'm sure if would have been worse.
The NCAA has placed Oregon's football program on probation for three years and taken away a scholarship for recruiting violations under previous coach Chip Kelly.
The NCAA's Division I Infractions Committee released a report on Wednesday that found Kelly and the university failed to monitor the program.
Oregon came under NCAA scrutiny after self-reporting violations stemming from payments made to recruiting services, including $25,000 to Willie Lyles and Houston-based Complete Scouting Services in 2011. Lyles had a connection with an Oregon recruit.
-
Oregon really skated on that one. They should celebrate this "great victory for Oregon" (SportsCenter anchor just said that to describe the sanctions) with special edition "slap on the wrist" jerseys. All the nameplates have Emmert on them.
-
The NCAA enforcement dept is dead. It would be pretty awesome if we had a single coach who could take advantage. However, we are the squeaky cleanest program in NCAA right now. oh well
-
Oregon is still fiesta bowl champs, you'll have to try again this year for that elusive BCS win.

From Bleacher Report but still can't argue the numbers.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1684452-if-college-football-were-paying-players-how-many-programs-could-afford-it (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1684452-if-college-football-were-paying-players-how-many-programs-could-afford-it)
My favorite part: Kansas State tops the list with the most excess cash in 2011 to pay out—over $23 million—which, split between 105 roster members, comes out to $222,000 per man. To be clear, the exact figure is $222,843.68 per player, per year.
K-State is the only program with enough “profit” to play players over $200,000 per season, and next up are nine schools which could afford salaries over the $100,000 mark.
Look the other way Currie. :curse:

This year, ku football pursues an elusive Big 12 Conference win as they currently sit on 20 consecutive conference losses and losses in 28 out of the last 35 conference football games.
All that in a "down conference"-Toilet Bowl Era Part II: Thriving in Lawrence, KS
Oh, and wow did Oregon skate on that one.

"Should we give Oregon a bowl ban?" "That puts Kansas one step closer to making a bowl." "NO BOWL BAN IT IS."
Lots of national hate for little brother. Makes me kind of sad.

it would be your FIRST bcs win, not "another" as you so clearly stated. and like i said, not going to happen, probation and loss of scholarships. it is pretty comical you guys are hoping for a vacated win from an opponent to claim your first BCS win, lmao
-
I exactly one year from now, no one will ever, ever, ever again give two shits about a "BCS" game....they won't even remember what the hell that was.

The 'tater desperation for an actual post-season accomplishment is getting out of control, tim. KU should send them our Orange Bowl trophy and/or one of our national championship trophies, and let the 'taters pretend like it's their own for a little while.

Helms BCS Title, might as well be.
-
You will probably act like you don't believe me, though I truly hope that you do....but winning the Big 12 in football is about 10 times more important to me than a random at large bid "BCS" win over an ACC school....but I won't stop there.....winning the Big 12 in football is about 10 times more important to me than ANY win in football short of the National Championship.
I mean that with every fiber of my being.

well usually winning the big 12 means you are in a BCS bowl game but those bowl games are just a friendly match like in soccer right?

i went to the camp game scrimmage last week when Wiggins made his arrival and beforehand i walked around the Booth Hall and i honestly dont remember KU having so many damn trophies and national titles....to me the best looking trophy we have is either the Orange Bowl trophy or the AP national title trophy we received in 2008, the NCAA national title trophies look plain.

Well tim, any team that goes to bowl games on the reg will tell you that you make a lot of money doing it.

I can see how you would be confused on this tim, as it's something you're not used to, but most schools actually DO see the money they make during the year.

Totally. First drink of beer for that rookie.

When your own football Program is in the midst of #kufootball-Toilet Bowl II, all you've got left is to lash out at the reigning Big 12 Champions and point to accomplishments from years ago.
-
Bowl Alliance victories are much more rare and elite than BCS victories.

That's like calling Orb the Triple Crown winner while Secretariat sits there wrecking fillies and chowing down on the best grain.

I just figured out the origin of 'taters and am pretty disappointed. I hoped it had to do with winning a title in home fries consumed per capita or something interesting.

Unless it was the BCS title game, yes, that's pretty much what they are. The "Bowl Championship Series" was never a series, it was a title game and bunch of other bowl games based on polls, just like the system it was supposed to replace. That's why they're now changing to a playoff system.

Now you are dropping how smart Lawrence is? For such a smart city I am baffled that you would take pride in being on a list where Ames, Iowa and Iowa City, Iowa are smarter than you. It is this kind of lack in logic that scares me about kids today.
Titletown.
