assuming that the qb race ends the way most of us expect it to, with waters getting the starting nod over sams, what position do you want coach snyder to move sams to?
i bet the first place most of you will choose is WR. at 6'2" 210, and with his speed, he would make a formidable wideout. but is that the appropriate answer?
consider our need for a weak side linebacker next year. then consider that if he were to add a few pounds (or LBs), how we would look playing for the lynch mob. having spent very limited time in clean up duty at QB, i don't think we really would have wasted any of his developmental time and we would benefit from having someone stop the run, who used to be the runner. he would already know the cuts the runner would make, and beat the runner to the spot, and tackle him for a loss.
he is the type of player that will lay it on the line for us every single f'n week. exactly what you need out of your LB/lynch mob.
+ if he still wants to QB from time to time we put him in at QB in mop up duty for waters.
my vote goes weakside linebacker, then strong side linebacker, then safety, then WR.

Anywhere, but the sidelines.

Stupid thread.
-
Sams does not have to build to play linebacker at the d1 FBS level.
Like it or not Tuggle was only good in pursuit and he had a lot more going for him.
-
I dont think he has the grit or toughness to play linebacker.
Assuming he doesnt win the starting job I would like him to move to safety. Maybe back up Zimmerman for a couple of years and start as a senior?
-
pretty sure lsu and ou recruited him to play safety. thats where i would put him
-
I hate the people who are like "BUT IT WOULD LEAVE A MAJOR HOLE AT THE BACKUP QB SPOT!!!"
Think of how much time we've spent in non blowout situations the last 4 years with the backup QB taking snaps. Texas 2010, and one quarter against OSU last year. He's too talented to not go SOMEWHERE.
-
he's our best option at QB but he would also be a stud replacement in the gaping hole left by stud Chris Harper
-
great thread clams, appreciate your thoughts. I think sams would make a great LB or safety. worst case he can definitely be a contributor on special teams as a "gunner."
-

would be nice to replace my favorite player with my other favorite player

no doubt he will be a great gunner. he will be featured prominently as i write up my all burner and all speed merchant teams. i think you can make the connection as to what i'm saying
-
I mean it's pretty obvious that out guy Daniel would be our best option at QB, WR and S
-
he's only one person. that's why i suggested LB then mop-up duty for waters, so he can do a little bitty bit of other things.
-
He was also the punter and kicker for his HS team
-
My only question would be whether or not he could master the special teams playbook.
-

Yeah, I bet Waters would get "it" faster.

I'd say defensive back. How do you spell "lockdown"??? Easy: L-I-F-E. (#life)

This juco guy we got from iowa is blowing sams out of the waters so far in spring ball. Doubt sams would see more than mop up duty this season.

Clams, I am all for #Life being where ever he can lay it on the line most effectively.

I think Coach Weber would be licking his chops for a floor general heir apparent to Will. I'm licing my chops, too, quite frankly.

This might be the most ignorant statement on the board right now. Do you watch football at all? Spring ball is roughly equivalent to your stated "mop up" duty. It gives kids (walkons, 4th/5th year non playing seniors and Tate Snyder) a chance to go out and give it their all and realize they can't quite hack it but still want the free Nike swag. Then Bill wanders out and reality checks those who can't run with the big dogs and motivates those who need a little push and he wants to see excel further. Snyder has done this with all the KSU "greats" ...E3, Bishop, etc...
So don't sit there and try to tell me that some random kid from nowhere Iowa is going to be taking time from #Life...he's the closest thing to Bishop v2 that we'll ever have.
<rant> over....not trying to attack you, just really passionate about what this kid brings to the table for KSU Football. He's the kind of game-changer that can take us to the promised land.

i see you laying it on the line for #life but you must not be a true powercat because if you were you wouldn't call waters "some random kid from iowa" because he is a teammate of sams and a powercat football player who lays it on the f'n line every single time he puts on his cleats. so don't come here acting like you know crap about spring football because you obviously don't and you obviously don't know anything about coach snyder or how he treats his qb situ. son. if you can't handle the truth about our current qb situ because you just returned from Junction city where you got #life tattoo in 72 pt font across your back that's too bad because without #waters there can be no #life son.

This is the whole focus of Snyder getting in people's heads and pushing them to achieve more than they would by themselves. Bringing in Waters is/was purely a motivational tool for #Life.
Lets not forget that #Life was told by Snyder that he's the most complete athlete he's seen since his return...
Playbook or not (ie Bishop), #4 will be under center come this fall...

and your posts say that you're ignorant about spring ball. but that's ok, i wouldn't expect the common man to know anything about coach snyder or how he runs spring ball. see son, i've spent time in the trenches and know what i'm talking about, unlike you who just comes here talking about sams this and sams that and for some reason you're addicted to comparing him to bishop. they're both black i guess. makes sense.
btw, are you the same shellshock that flunked out of ron prince's football 101 class (for women) ?

You move him to whatever position you want to score with.
If you want a rushing TD, move him to RB
If you want a QB draw, move him to QB
If you want a bazillion TD receptions, move him to WR
If you want a pick 6, move him to safety

Sensible answer, but I'd expand on the scoring potential for Sams @ QB, which is where he'll be.

I'm sorry, but did the Daniel Sams already lose the QB battle? Oh, that's right. The pre-season isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only April. Does not having the April QB lead count as a loss? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when the spring game hasn't even rough ridin' happened? #Life is still playing right now he's been the most dynamic QB on the roster for how many years now? He's playing a guy that just happens to have a lead because he's feeding off the energy of winning national JUCO player of the year. But you know what? #Life is one of the best rough ridin' QBs in the NCAA, he had a ton of touchdowns last year and would have won the Heisman and the Natty if he didn't have a world crushing stud in front of him. Maybe you should shut the eff up before you make stupid topics like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when #Life wins and someone bumps this topic. Are you a rough ridin' drunk? Are you stupid as crap? Are you a low-life crap-mouthed little bitch? You are a rough ridin' idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm rough ridin' serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti-#Life topics because you're a hater who doesn't like the QB because he's good. eff you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these rough ridin' QBs on the board, like I give a eff. It's so easy to spot out your threads now. Always doing stupid crap like this. Why don't you try to be a good poster? Just for once? For once in your rough ridin' life try not to make a topic like this. That's just you, you're always right at getting it wrong. eff you. You are nothing.

i thought about it for a while and decided that sams should move to WR. there's no way he beats waters for the qb role but i think we need him on offense.
-
another option we should explore is moving him to tight end. how much would snyder love to have that ace in the hole?
-
I think we should let him punt in addition to his QB duties. The other team would have to really respect the fake under that circumstance, and I think we could pull it off at least a half dozen times over the course of a season.

I am all for this. I mean, every single down, the other team would have to wonder first if we would be punting or running a play, then they would have to ask what kind of play we may be running if not a punt.
Could really slow down the defenses' ability to get set up against us. If you then make the offense speed up rather than running down to 5 on the clock every single snap, we could constantly dominate defenses who were still worried about if we were punting or not as Hubes blows by them and houses the ball.
Boom! National Championship!
Classic triple threat of Pass, Run, Punt.

Classic triple threat of Pass, Run, Punt.
Do you guys think Sams could be a stud kicker, too? I mean, maybe they should just replace the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition with the Daniel Sams Presents Punt, Pass, Run, and Kick competition. It would basically be the same thing as the Punt, Pass, and Kick, only you would also have to run a 40 yard dash.

How about a slot back? Seems like he could be devastating on those smash routes.
Jermain Moreiraish.

Agreed, 'graph breaks would be good. Other than that, I found this post...curious.

Do we need a new name for the wildcat position? It seems like it's kinda been taken from us and used by too many others. Kinda like "Kleenex," I say I want a Kleenex but I don't really care if it's Puffs.

Can we use a brand name like that? I doubt it. Might have to go generic with "Tissue"

I'm worried that the preseason isn't even over and Sams already lost the starting position. Maybe 3rd string QB by the time the season starts. Best find him another position.

i think so too. nothing rational about either of you two samsboners.
I love wading through 4 pages of crap and finding a gem like this

That's what I mean, this is kinda a big issue that no one is talking about.
IDEA: Bob Davis and Nate Bukaty call that position the "Jayhawk" position when discussing it on 810am radio broadcasts. Let's steal that one! I vote we now call the Wildcat the Jayhawk position too.
