i think it is worth a couple bucks at least.
45 cents...or 47 cents...or whatever it costs now...is way too cheap.

Haven't bought a stamp in years

tough call. i would say a dollar but don't have any of the science needed to back up that claim. if it's more than a dollar, a lot of companies may stop using it and then it would get more expensive, not less- again, no science on that claim but i have a good hunch that it's correct.
at $.47 a mailing is much cheaper than a similar way to deliver data from point a to point b. no science on that but pretty sure it's directionally correct given my knowledge of data delivery systems.

What do you guys think it should cost to rent a movie? I think it should cost at least $5.50 on weekdays but if it is the weekend it should cost like $7.00. And instead of being able to rent the movie for a day you should only be able to rent it for like a week or something. But if you're late by a day or two you should be charged the rental fee for another full week.

That's just stupid, KKK.

It should be punitive for someone to decide to send a piece of coorespondence by mail. Don't make it illegal, but make them really want to do it. Maybe $10. It's bad for the environment and it's bad for people's time who hate to get the mail because what is this like the stone age or something?
-
People should have email addresses that require more information to get (some kind of confirmation that you're telling the truth) and more permanent. Then we could do more legit correspondance that way and the mail system could die. At the very least the Post Office should axe home delivery and make people pick up their mail at a PO box. Anything going to a physical address should require $2 minimum, 50-75 cents for PO Box delivery is fair
-
I think distance should also be a factor. My trash guy is located in St. George so using a stamp on him just isn't as satisfying as sending something to california for under .50.
-
If they just put shredders/recycling bins next to the mailboxes then people would just start shredding all the junk and the Post Office would be making bank selling all the recyclable material and then the junk would stop coming and the serious stuff would be practically free.
-
A stamp should cost at least $1. UPS and FedEx would laugh their asses off at the idea of delivering a document for only 47 cents.
-
I love getting mail.

I completely agree with this.

For poors, the government could give food stamps, but for actual stamps. Poors have to mail stuff too. I feel sorry for them.
Corporations should have to pay a boat load to mail stuff.

I cant remember the last time I checked my mailbox and its attached to my house. I'm thinking sometime last week but i'm not sure.
-
i don't understand people who pay bills by writing a check and sending it through the mail.
-
i have this thing that i need to send out and it HAS to be mailed. been sitting on my desk for 2.5 weeks because it's so much effort to go and buy a rough ridin' stamp.

Old people LOVE getting mail, sending mail and going to Post Offices. What are we going to do about mail when we get old guys? :ohno:

Switched banks and messed up account number for electric bill for ACH. Of course it got rejected and I got charged another $20. Spent like an hour on the phone with this lady, not really for the $20, but because they were rejecting my privilege to pay via ACH (would have had to send check every month). Eff that noise. She eventually figured out I wasn't a hobo when I asked her if I could prepay like a thousand bucks instead of sending a check for account balance every month.

I had to go buy stamps yesterday to send our guy dlew some mail. Like, it's cool that I can send him an autographed photo of cas4ksu petting his own hair, but I could have just emailed him the picture.

i feel like Rick Daris already made this thread? hmm. anyway, getting mail is awesome. :D

They should just get rid of the post office, so zero.
