Title: constant winning with no losing sprinkled in
Post by: Dr Rick Daris on March 11, 2013, 11:52:25 AM
i mean it's incredible fun for now and all but is anyone concerned that our sports teams might be winning too much? won the big12 football. won the big12 basketball. while it's great for now, i'm slightly worried that it might get old if we keep doing it every single time we go out there.

like i love pepperoni pizza but i still mix in some fruit and veg and then when i do eat the pizza i'm all gosh this is just as good as i remembered it. i love this stuff. but if i ate pepperoni pizza for every meal,  i just don't know. would it become passe? anyway those are just my thoughts/concerns and i've been off the board for a while and didn't know if this has been addressed yet. go cats (but not too much?)!

I'm a little different. I could eat championships every single day until I was 600 lbs and still be hungry for more.

I agree, rick daris. I'm just concerned that the fan's voices aren't being heard. Weber and Snyder obviously disagree with our sentiment, I just don't know how to get the message to them that we the fans could really use a change of course every once in a while.

So I guess my main worry about winning so much is that I will be 600 lbs (which will be awful, I imagine).

Ya. Winning is like pornography.  They more you get the more you want, until you are addicted to it and just go around winning against everyone you meet, regardless of how good or crappy they are.

i just don't want to binge on winning to the point that i consider giving it up all together. while i don't think it would come to that i honestly can't say that i know for sure. i mean we're pretty much on the verge of success that has historically only been reserved for a team like the harlem globetrotters and i bet a few of those dudes were like "omg let's just let the generals when one every once in a while to shake things up. this is snoozeville." i'm also talking yin and yang type stuff here too i think. does good exist without evil? idk.

at this point in time, kansas state sports are basically like the parent that just lets their kids sit down on halloween night and eat as much of their candy as they want to eat. maybe just spread the twixes and snickers out over the period of a month or so is all i'm getting at. idk it's just been rattling around in my head for the last day or so.

I'm afraid all this winning might create a "sticker fan" culture. On the other hand, it could be a good business opportunity to start selling Powercat stickers on Gardner/Tonganoxie street corners  :kstategrad:

I think the greatest concern, really, is that our student athletes aren't learning how to handle adversity while still in college.  Who knows what could happen in one of these youngsters lives after graduation from THE Kansas STATE University.

I'm sure they'll all be  :kstategrad: like all of us, but I'm still just a little  :ohno: as it relates to the unknown of dealing with failure for the first time.

it's like there was some local band that played once a week at "my bar" and i loved the heck out of them and always told people how good they were and how they should make it big and then they did make it big and now they don't play at my bar and the follow up to their smash hit first single is on the trek 4 soundtrack and they made a video with eddie murphy having a food fight while the song is playing and yeah there is a small part of me that is happy for them but i also kind of miss the old days too where they were "mine" and now they are everybody's favorite and are going to be on the morning show thursday and i'm still debating whether or not to go drop $85 for second level seats to go see them at sprint next month when just a year ago it was a three dollar cover with $1.75 pbr cans. it's just too much constant success and i don't know you guys, i mean it's great and all but i still can't help but thinking maybe we're going to burn out on it or people will turn against us because of how successful were are.

and it's really just food for thought at this point but nobody on here could look me real life eye to eye and tell me that they'd be excited for shrek 4. hell i bet half the people here have never even seen puss and boots. give me a break with that and antonio banderas who went from the once proud actor that lit the world on fire in desperado with selma hayak and now he's some animated cat with a sword. that just makes no sense in the world and i can't believe a rational thinking person wanting this for ksu athletics or it's fans. so just really think about some of this stuff.

crap everyone want to be around a winner.  You know what I'm saying.  Only a weird mothereffer doesn't want to hang with a winner.  And eff him anyway.  Man bitches are going to be all up in your junk, like you got a custom-made cocaine helmet for it.  Even those white-hot bitches who wouldn't give you the time of day before?  crap, they'll be falling too, like frickin sinners when the preacher puts his hand on their heads and screams, "You are saved!"

And then the best thing, when you look at that trembling bitch and ask, "in the butt?"  What's she going to say?  What's she going to say?  "Put my ass to sleep!!!"

I meen it really is fun.  21 wins in FB past 2 yrs.  99 wins and counting the past 4 yrs in BB.

Huggy was a misfit.  Frank was a HS coach.  Weber could not win at ILL.   Our BB program is in shambles right now :ohno:

good question stud poster rick daris.  i think we also need to be worried about somebody coming in and telling us we're winning too much. did you see that thing in new york with that short guy telling everyone they can't drink big sodas?  what if the big xii does the same thing do us?  like hey guys, we know you're awesome, but you're hogging up all of the awesome, and the malnourished skinny teams like mold aggie need wins too.  so we're going to make sure that you can only get big conference wins at convenience stores or somthing.  i dunno, sounds terrible.  hopefully the big xii just ignores our dominance is what i'm saying.

Good question, bro.  This years Illini team is actually pretty talented.  I actually think they'd have been more successful WITH Weber this year.

What our squawk bros aren't comprehending is that we didn't "just" get Weber, but also a pretty solid coach in Lowery that took SIU to several Sweet 16's in the not too distant past.

This staff is pretty damn strong, and I think the only person in Lowrents that gets that is Massa Self.
