My key was to outshoot OSU and we didn't. Won TOs and oboards, but getting outshot gave us not shot when you look at the FT rate.
-
our defense, ouch.
-
Why did Irving seem to get far too little PT in the second half?
-
keep any stats about how poorly we defended ball screens?

Poorly.
Giving up the run after we got up 8 was killer. Then Nino's two missed FTs. And Angel's struggles to finish.
Our defense wasn't great, but I thought we'd have to outshoot then to win. We didn't.
-
We started the 2nd half on a 20-5 run. But then it wasnt pretty. OK St 30-12 run over a 12:40 clip. That run started with OK St getting 6 layup/dunks in a row to tie it at 53.
-
It killed me watching them pull our bigs away from the basket and just dump it inside for dunks all day.
-
Here is another thing that is frustrating. If you count 2 FTAs being equal to 1 FGA.... then this was the tale of the tape today
Ksu 61 FGAs and 20 FTAs (so 71 att). OK St 44 FGAs and 30 FTAs (59 att). Ksu ended up being +12 on attempts.
And we actually made 8 3pt shots to their 3 3pt makes
Most games when we win the OR and TO battle and it allows to be +12 on the total attemps..... we usually will win
Got outshot and outshot pretty significantly today
-
Two reasons we lost, the most important two. We passed up open threes early in the possession, I guess so we could run our offense and find a more open three? Then, not only were we terrible on defending screens, but when a guard got anywhere near the paint we had our bigs trying to run out for a second to show a token double team...by the point in time that our big had gotten to their guard the ball was already in the paint being dunked. It was beyond frustrating. As a coach, how do you not recognize that a singular defensive strategy is eliminating any chance for a win? oscar is no scheme master, that's for sure.

If by "wasn't great" you mean "garbage." OSU got any shot they wanted.

Stats are meaningless when you stand down to the fraud that was the officiating ij this basketball game. We might as well let novastar legislate what's a bankable mortgage. :flush:

I don't know if you're trying to :bait:, but the officiating was fine for a game on the road in a hostile environment. Our guards were not aggressive enough shooting the basketball, and our defensive gameplan was beyond stupid. The refs had little to do with this game.

Exemplifies a symptom of the problem. That game was a rough ridin' joke

I didn't notice anything particularly bad from the refs. At least any pattern against KSU

I've taken exception to the way that a handful of our games were officiated this year. The refs let the players and coaches decide the game today, and we blew it...nothing more, nothing less.

Agree. The passing up of 3's to drive for 2's which lead to run outs for OSU. We got out best looks before 15 seconds in the shot clock. Our defense was complete dog crap. We let Nash get it wherever he wanted and let him do whatever he wanted, most times un contested.

I guess I wasn't that frustrated with the way we defended Nash. He's just a lot better than our power forwards. The uncontested dunks we gave up because of a flawed defensive strategy were far more frustrating for me.

Last 6 minutes of the game was a rough ridin' abomination. I bet k-state outscored osu 12-2 in pts excluding fts. Keep taking it in the rough ridin' ass and asking for more though while ku beats isu on the road in an Iranian free election.

what a great analogy. sums up our situation well.

Your pithy condescension doesn't camouflage the pathetic state of men's cbb. Keep pretending there isn't a problem while you DON'T watch the game and comb over the dubious stats. rough ridin' ostrich, buried head in the sand.

More condescension from an assclown who pours over stats and doesn't watch the games.
-
More condescension.
no, i haven't read all your posts, and i don't know what you are upset about (aside from losing today).

Garbage in, garbage out

Why did Irving seem to get far too little PT in the second half?
Kept yelling this at the Rock a Bell the last five minutes (bar game day atmosphere sucked today BTW). Still don't understand it.
Also, why do we hedge on sideline drives? Wouldn't a simple switch be better (in hindsight, hell yes)?
