- oscar is late.
- Talking about not getting a very good shot when we had 35 seconds and the ball against Baylor
- Rod hit a big shot that kept us in the race for the Big 12 Title.
- You have to use gamesmenship and smart strategy to win close games in March.
- Frank is one of the best coaches ever at K-state.
- We play a little more team defense than we did last year.
- There's always somebody else who leads the game in scoring. Last year if Rodney didn't score 30 we were going to be in trouble.
- Rod works hard. Last one to leave, and first one to show up every night. He is quiet, more of an emotional leader.
- It was hard to leave a school that you gave your heart to.
- "One of the best if not the best 9 year run in the history of the school (Illinois)"
- "I hope I can stay here for a while and finish my career."

He was on the Freddy Coleman ESPN show last night about 12:30. Almost drove my truck off a bridge at the sound of his voice.

There is no one in the world I hate listening to more than oscar Weber. Insufferable.

Maybe you should start a fundraising drive to get oscar thyroplasty. :dunno:

It's not just his awful voice. It's mainly the stuff he says.

maybe there a way to use autotune on his interviews?

He was referring to last year's cats as "we" in order to talk smack on Frank and build himself up? That's some quality Brucery right there.

Still team #BID, but Pett's sig pic is fantastic(purely based on the adorableness of tay and rod)

"help defense" just cracks me up every time I hear it. would love for him to ever explain that.

Pretty sure this is his way of saying they aren't over denying passing lanes anymore. Playing more help and recover on dribble penetration that the defender is 1 pass away. Also weak-side guys that are 2 passes away are on "tape" or near the middle of the lane for rotations and backside doubling of the post.
More importantly we now hedge hard on P&R's and have weak side guys at "tape" for the roll guy until the bigs recover from the hedge. It has worked, more importantly we have made it harder for guards to turn the corner and get easy dribble penetration for easy shots or pitches for set shooters or lobs to the bigs.

i bet he could explain it just fine.

Pretty hilarious that we discussed the awfulness of ol Freddy last night, and then you got this.
-
hey fuckheads, i know how frank and oscar's defense differs, I'm merely laughing at oscar's insinuation that his defense is more/better "team" or "help" than defense than Frank's. If you think that Frank's defense wasn't about help or team defense, you're rough ridin' crazy. It makes me think that oscar didn't really understand it.

Maybe oscar has help defense confused with that stupid rough ridin' trap that he tries to run :dunno:

You mean the same trap that is fairly effective and results in quite a few turnovers or getting an 'O' off balanced? When the players execute and time it right, it's fun to watch.

No, I'm talking about the only trap he runs. The one that allows teams like TCU to have their most efficient offensive game of the season, on the road no less. It sucks. We're better when we play straight up. We have a nice basketball team, but we don't have the elite athletes to run that trap.

"One of the best if not the best 9 year run in the history of the school (Illinois)"
Bread, how does him saying this make you feel?
how much do you know about Illinois basketball?
The last six years of that historically great nine year run oscar won one NCAA game and missed it altogether three of the six years. Zero conference championships, regular season or tournament. He also set the all-time program record for most losses in a single season during those six years. Self recruited one of the best, if not the best, squads in Illinois program history and oscar took full advantage. Then when the training wheels came off he fell flat on his fat rough ridin' face. During that six year stretch when the program was entirely his he failed miserably. One of the worst six year runs in program history. Stupid chicken nuggets-dick doofus.
The worst part is that he isn't sitting around unemployed with nothing to do but be bitter, he's rough ridin' winning with the cats. Yet he still feels compelled to lie about his pathetic tenure at Illinois. He's such an insecure little bitch. He makes it impossible for me not to despise him. Either own the failure or don't rough ridin' talk about it. They paid him over three million dollars just to go away. He should be rough ridin' grateful our former AD was such a moronic eff stain rather than continually trying to play the victim.
That's how it makes me feel.

:blah: :blah: :blah:
what he said was accurate. let's not pretend that illinois is a bastion of college basketball. oscar coached the team to their first big 10 championship since 1952. and did it again the next year.
you should be happy he made a pitstop in champaign instead of letting you rot for another 5 decades.

We get it Mr. Bread, the Illini are historically one of the most underachieving athletic programs in NCAA history relative to Illinois overall demographic setting.
The Illini haven't been crap in football for years, outside of a one tiny brief season a few years back, and they suck out loud now. Illinois basketball has found yet another mid-major coach who has hit his glass ceiling.
Sure, oscar may end up absolutely blowing at K-State and I know you feel at home here with all the Frankite's who clearly want K-State basketball to fail so they can feel better about themselves . . . but we get it already. Your rage, fueled by knowing that Illinois is currently nothing more than a rumble strip on the Autobahn of collegiate athletics has made your ranting in this outlet stale and tired. You really need to take a step back, breath a little and figure out how you can bring something new and interesting to this message board.
I’m here if you want some more advice.

You're trolling me clams. Self finished 1st 2 of his 3 seasons and finished 2nd the other winning the conference tournament that year. Kruger finished 1st once. Henson also finished 1st.
Best three year run in program history? Sure, all with Self's players. Part of the best nine year run? Yes, 1997-98 to 2005-2006. He took the historic program momentum that he was gifted and completely rough ridin' blew it. He took a program that was at its pinnacle and turned it into crap. That's how bad he was.

oscar isn't your coach anymore. get over it. He's our coach and doing a great job. When he stops doing a great job, we should fire him.

It seems like this would be a bit like Prince bragging, saying "I was a part of the best 23 year run in K-State history," and citing the Texas wins.
-

Not really. It would be like if Snyder retired in 2001 and Prince coached from 2002-2006, winning a Conference Championship and going to a BCS bowl. And then claiming credit for the DOD.
-
Meh on all of this. All coaches are attention hogs and will almost always try to validate their past. Come on.
The problem with oscar is he's also pretty weird and the voice, so those things get in the way. But he's no more/less of a hog with the media than Frank was if given the opportunity, Frank just more entertaining because he had fewer annoying traits, besides saying "ya know" all the time.

Don't be such a rough ridin' pussy Belvis Noland. A question was asked and I answered it. Part of this thread is about oscar's comments on Illinois. I'm not polluting other threads with oscar hate. I make a point not to out of respect for the board. That's how I started here, but I sure as hell haven't maintained it. Nobody needs to hear that or wants to. :bball:

i post at a lot of places i have interest in, maybe bread is interested in this place. his point is completely valid and whether or not he went to k-state has no impact on that.
since you haven't figured it out yet, we want more non-k-state posters here, not less.

I wouldn't find oscar failing at K-State rewarding in the slightest. I just wanted him gone and he is. His lies bring back the hate on occasion, but never his successes or failures with the cats. If not for he and ADJC, I wouldn't be here. So I do owe him that. Thanks oscar. As always oscar gives and he takes, but who doesn't you know? I think we can all agree the cats are great. :emawkid:

Bread is right on this being a great board. Maybe the best board I've come across since the early days of The Goat Pen. If you guys got EarthDog Fred here, holy crap, I can't imagine. I'd like to be involved, but I can't reconcile wanting the best for you guys and my hatred of weber. Just don't change. Don't ever change.
-
This is what I hate. A thread gets anti-oscar and some rando Illinois person chimes in. It's always so condescending. "Don't change derp derp." Thank rough ridin' god you said that or all these lemmings would have up and become different people. Illini fans save cats fans bacon yet again. eff.

I wonder if anything in the world is not in Bread's wheelhouse? Probably not.

oscar coached Illinois to its best season ever. To bootstrap that into best nine year run is dishonest. He had one of the worst six year runs ever. I would trade his tenure for that of Henson's in the eighties in a heartbeat, and if a genie granted me one wish it would be that Weber never coached in Champaign. We went from winning conference titles three of six years before he showed up to missing the tournament and being a basketball embarrassment.
oscar Weber needs to bring in a point guard to replace Angel. That position will determine his legacy at KSU.
I suggested you guys could win your conference this year. You have nice players. I dont believe your future is as bright unless oscar somehow gets enough common sense to recruit some ball handlers.

Mr. Bread, thanks for hanging out with us. Just out of curiosity, how do you feel regarding K-State sports due to your time here? Obviously your view of our basketball program is tainted, but do you root for us in football? Are we your second favorite team? Or do you sometimes forget which school's message board you spend so much time on because you're too busy laughing at the posts?

I am very pro-cats sports thanks to my time here. Since Illinois doesn't have a football program currently, the cats are my favorite football team. They are my second favorite hoops team and I would only root against them if they faced off against my Breads. The basketball really has a lot to due with _FAN. I want good things for him. He's too good to have to suffer through shitty hoops. The man needs a quality medium. My dislike of oscar doesn't touch that.
I'm here for the humor though. If this bbs had nothing to do with sports, I'd still be here all the time.
-
Bread/Clams interaction has become one of my favs. It's like Lemon and Mathau when they mix it up.

I'll root for the Fightin' Breads any chance I get. Behind KU and sister school Duke, they take top cheering priority.

He did, but he's really super bad at playing point guard and probably every other position (unconfirmed).

we also keep our pistols out pretty well this year
