Title: What is the best satellite tv?
Post by: Branson Bound on March 01, 2013, 04:27:05 PM
Evening, folks. I am looking to get rid of my cable tv and switch to satellite but I don't know what to get. Do you recommend direct tv or dish? I have a friend who tells me that dish is better because it is cheaper and has a hopper but another friend tells me that direct tv is better because it has better hd or something. I saw the other topic on this but I thought it would be better to create this one so people don't think I'm a nazi. Thanks and God Bless.

You were probably better off posting this in the other thread. People might come in here and yell at you

I don't know about DirecTV, but DISH requires a bazillion year contract, which makes me feel rage-y.

This is good information. How many years is a bazillion?

I have had DirecTV for years and love it.  I think Dish would be fine for you too.  The key is the sports pack add on that you would have to get for Dish.  ESPNU and Fox Sports will be important for K-state games and those don't come in the regular package.

Is the regular package on direct tv cheaper than the package I would need on dish to watch K-State?

Hey BB!  TGIF amirite?  I don't have any advice on satellite TV but I was wondering how legendary counrty singer Randy Travis is doing?  I have been sending T's & P's his way and hope he is doing well.

Great thread and I mean it.

Three. When I wanted to add another receiver because I put a TV in my bar, they wanted to add another three years. Who knows where they're going to be in three years? I sure don't.

He is doing great! Thanks for all of your prayers and concerns. Randy is kicking off a new tour. I will put the dates on the other topic.

Last year new customers to DirectTV got Sunday Ticket free the first year, if that's something you'd be interested in

DirecTV has a two year contract which sucks (not as bad as 3 years).  I know for DirecTV it is like 300 dollars to break the contract.  I'm pretty sure Dish Network is cheaper, but I'm not sure how much.  It looks like you will have to add 9 dollars a month onto your bill (at least during football and basketball season) for Fox Sports.  Some of the winter tournaments may be on CBS Sports Network, but a bar would have those.  I'm not sure about ESPNU.  Someone with Dish Network will have to help you out there.

Thank you very much for the information Ell and blumpkin. I am leaning toward direct tv right now. What is this hopper that my friend keeps going on about?

I've had both. Directv is the better option. Equipment is much better.

For sports this discussion begins & ends with DirecTV being the only choice.
