My project manager was called that to his face several times while eating breakfast on a business trip. As 60's and :opcat: and :horrorsurprise: as it was it does unfortunately still happen.

I'm not defending the numbnuts who said it, but I've been called that before. And typically, the person saying it is trying to find the least offensive term. (They've failed, if that's what they come up with, but the intent was there.) I've found this to be true especially of older people who regularly ask me, what are you? Meaning, what race are you? It's offensive, but they're curious.

If you are at MHK Horn Pak I can fill in the details. Metalhead was there to witness as well. I was very :bigtoke:, so that made it even funnier. Basically dude was telling a story about getting into fights. I thought he was going to punch me at one point (I'm sure he wasn't). It was a great story, and when he began talking about a particular fight, in which his hand was destroyed because of a black dude's hard forehead was when hilariousness ensued.
I don't even think he was trying to be racist, or mean or anything. He just kept referring to black people as "colored" "colored fellas." It was too much. <--- nicname

I was thoroughly embarrassed. I wanted to run away.
