Ts and Ps
Best PG in the league.

Don't want to register. Someone post the funny ones.

it's devoid of anything remotely good.
-
Yes, nothing good. Was kind of shocked by their fervent hate though. Prob :opcat:.
-
Paging Beems: why is phog so obsessed with us?
-
They are REALLY jealous of the hot stud team that gets angel.
I do like how they compare their hate for angel to their weird hate for Aaron craft.
-
I bet they are being racist as crap

They're just trying to make it seem less racist.
-
it was mainly a circle jerk over angel "flopping" when Jefferson used the clear out move and they called it a tie up.

Angel is by far the best Point we've had since Denis. Is he better than Denis? I think so. He doesn't have the elite quickness but he makes better decisions and is only a Sophomore. Thoughts?
-
Well, have to remember we first saw Denis as a fourth-year junior. At that point, he was a better 3-point shooter than Art. But I don't think there's any question Art will be by far the better true point guard and the best in school history.
-
Like I said in chat, the next 2 years of Angel will be precious.
-
Denis better at transition and scoring so far

I think his knee is definitely holding him back there. If he gets healthy next year...Oh, man!!
-
I don't think so. Denis was a very rare amt of speed. He created fast breaks out of normal possessions. Even w a healthy knee, I don't see that speed in angel.
-
Angel is already a PG though.
-
Denis also had a coach that asked him to create transition more often. But really, they're just different players.
-

Nobody, on any team, will ever be as fast as Denis.

It's not about them being different players it's about them playing the same position. The comparison is who is a better Point: Denis or Angel?
-
Who is the better "point" is irrelevant, Angel is the better player (by far) at the same point in their careers.
-

I know. We had it so good and I loved him so much. :frown:

Angel is the better player, but check out Denis' tat sleeve

Why are they so racist? Lil bro has some growing up to do.

They are in total denial regarding Angel. Display their lack of basketball knowledge by throwing out rebounding in a discussion about point guards.
Envy can be an ugly thing.
-
Do they really want to go there?
Per 100s don't lie:

NO!

no effing way is smart a point guard
-

Except that he is.
-
he's a pg because osu doesn't have a pg.
-
question, is fbc actually a KSU cats fan?
-
My lil bro (KU alum) does not like Angel but only because he is slightly afraid of Angel's game. He also did not like Denis. However, he has yet to chime in on Orris, probably because he doesn't know he exists as far as I know.
-
ALERT! ALERT! We're in lil bro's head. It's pretty sad you guys. They wanna be us soooo bad. T's & P's, I70 friend.
-
As I remember, Phog hated and denigrated Denis, too, especially after he went after Morningstar after getting punched in the package. Then when Denis left, those hibbiq's suddenly decided he was the only reason Pullen was any good, right up until Jake dropped 39 on them.
So I wouldn't waste my time trying to get them to admit what they know to be true about Angel.
-

Black and Tan were our purple pop guns (or whatever that awful nickname was).
-

His versatility as a college player doesn't make him less of a point guard, thats like saying Rodney isn't a small forward. Smart is getting drafted as a point guard, he sure in the hell isn't a 2 in the league. He isn't even a 2 in the d league.
-
i can understand some hate. he would be incredibly frustrating to play against. Didn't seem like they were knocking his ability so much.

They were comparing him unfavorably to Elijah freaking Johnson, so, yeah, I'd say they were knocking his ability quite a bit. Elijah Johnson? LOL.

Sayers still exists, so that title is taken.

It has to be asked. Are Bob Strawn/tmcats and Sayers the same person?

To be fair if you are a fan of an opposing team he is really annoying to play against. He is a very talented pest. He does so many things so well and then he just bird dogs the other PG all over the court. Very annoying.

Absolutely. I'd probably be very annoyed of Angel if we had to play against a player like him two times a year. It's just jealousy. But he's ours, and I love him dearly.

This. Name a small "in-your-face" player from ANY other team that you've been a fan of over the years. I can't.
Maybe Cookie Belcher...but then again I just really like cookies and he wasnt really that small.

See I can step back and say a guy like Smart, Burks @CU, or Jackson @BU are good players. I don't just blindly hate them because of latent racism and school pride.

Smart is an elite bballer, but a pretty mediocre PG, fwiw. 8.1 assists to 5.8 turnovers isn't very elite.

Yes, he is a baller without a conventional position - I think he would be great at the next level playing alongside another big, physical guard that is a shooter like a GRCOAT legend OJ Mayo.
-

He's a stud. Everything Fred Peete wanted to be and more.

If Angel were playing point for OSU, Smart would be scoring about 10 more points per game, fwiw.
Smart is a stud, though. I agree.
-
I like Angel a lot but he's a scrubby overachiever like spradling with a low ceiling.
Best PG's:
1) Smart
2) Jackson
tie: Tharpe, Angel, Kabongo
KU doesn't start a PG but Tharpe has more talent than Angel and not quite as much as Kabongo. Angel has the most experience though at this point and they are all sophomores. too close to call on those 3.

Which part don't you like? His assist rate? Assist to TO ratio? Steals? Ability to score?
I don't look at his numbers and see overachiever, he's just a pretty damn good player.

Angel's A/T ratio is out of this world good, and he is capable of creating offense with the ball as well. He's really amazing. He's the best PG K-State has ever had, and he's only going to get better.
-
Tharpe is garbage. Have you seen him try to finish at the rim?
-
A:TO is such a silly stat when you really think about it.

I like how you have Jackson at 2. Its clear you don't watch much ball, because you would have seen Angle abuse everyone BU put on him Saturday. I mean absolutely abuse everyone.

Why?

I can easily say Angel is a very good player. Will only be getting better, but he is annoying to play against. I am excited to see Tharpe get more run next year. Not sure what to expect, but it should be entertaining.
-
A:TO is such a silly stat when you really think about it.
Why?
because they are pretty unrelated. I mean, why not points:turnovers?

People still can't figure out that Angel is incredible at basketball. Same thing happened last year.
-

It depends what you are asked to do really. I think they've always gone together because point guards traditionally were asked to handle the ball the majority of the time and to create for others in the offense and in doing so they are going to have some TOs.
I can see your point with the more modern adaption of point guards who also score, but I still think A:TO is a decent measure, but only when comparing points/combos to other points/combos (those that handle the ball the majority of the time).
Its nice, but I really don't care that much about Shane or Will and their A:TO ratios.
-
Primary talking points on phog.net where it's K-State all day everyday are:
-Empty Seats (really makes them feel good about themselves).
-Bad officiating helping K-State against WVU.
-DANGEROUS steps at Bramlage; you can hurt yourself people.

that's why it's stupid. not because the categories are unrelated, but because it's a ratio and doesn't distinguish between 20 assists/10 tos and 2/1.

Meh. Just because its non comprehensive doesn't mean stupid, it just means non comprehensive.
Its also why the league stipulates min 3.0 assists per game in their chart, which is one good thing they do with their stats.
Assist-to-Turnover Ratio (Min. 3.0 assists/game)

another small problem with A:TO is the subjectivity of assists and turn overs by the official score keeper when compared to black and white stats like points and rebounds.
-

yeah, for both stats. I know aTm had an assist-happy score keeper a while back.
-
I wish they would credit "TO's caused" instead of steals. A player hits the ball into someone else's hands a fair amount, doesn't get a steal. Or when someone forces their opponent to make a bad pass and it goes out of bounds or something. That'd be awesome. And Angel would absolutely own that stat.
-

Meh. I think A/T is fine to reference as a complement to Assist totals and Assist%.
As for "why not points:TO," why not look at that too? No one's stopping you, and it's easy enough to compile from totals. :dunno:
