Title: the "bullshit" chant
Post by: pissclams on February 12, 2013, 10:51:27 AM
national television, Big Monday, prime time game. and everyone in AFH is chanting "bullshit".  way to keep it classy, KthUg.  maybe next game you can chant out the directions on how to make a pipe bomb, or recite the words to mein kampf.

good grief, what an embarrassment to the entire state.  sunflower showdown? more like sunflower no-class festival.

I had to explain to a long list of East Coast elites that it was not indicative of Kansas values and behavior.   It was a tough sell, but I think I finally convinced them.

Can't claim a state until you can protect it from the likes of outsiders.  Especially those that threaten you from your own border.

I always thought it would hilarious to do ironic chants. Like if last night AFH erupted with "JUST LIKE FOOTBALL" clap clap, clap clap clap. all our players/the rest of the world would be like WTF NO IT'S NOT!

hopefully you got to the remote's mute button with your toe before he picked up on the chant. of course, his 1st grade teacher is most likely a KthUg grad so i'm sure he's subjected to similar vernacular on a daily basis.

PI'ing the crap out of the refs is just part of the game, folks.  Starting a "eff KU!" chant at the end of the game is pure, butthurt white trash.  Glad we could make this distinction!

the part that got me was that the call they were "questioning" wasn't even close. it was as if they were waiting for any opportunity to swear and thereby sully our state's reputation. hopefully the nation will only associate such juvenile behavior with the university of kansas, but i doubt it. thanks a lot, jayhawks.

you have to remember that roy was in lawrentucky long before the influx of meth labs had invaded douglas county.  there's nothing he could have done to temper the savages in AFH in this day and age.

Definitely.  This class is mandatory for the Master's of Douchery degree so highly sought after by all of the frat boy tools at KU.  I hear the final exam involves the application of roofies in a bar setting.  Hint: the extra-credit questions is centered on wearing sunglasses at night on Mass Street without looking like a tool.  This is a difficult question indeed, but the philosophical nature behind popping collars and wearing sunglasses at night is the crowning achievement for any KU grad (future jobs depend on this skill).

Don't you have a home?

You sorta remind me of the poor kid that smelled of piss when my mom was "den-mother" for cub scouts that just wouldn't go home because we had nicer things.

Bring something worthwhile to to the table or GTFO.

Guys I took the time to conduct a very extensive poll and can absolutely confirm that the overwhelming consensus of Illinois residents that watched the game was that KU students/fans were historically classless and garbagey.  I didn't even have to solicit opinions, people I didn't even know were walking up to me in disbelief exclaiming how disgusted they were with what they saw and heard.  All I could say was "I know" and then shake my head sadly.  Can also confirm that 100% of Chicago is appalled by and now hates and looks down upon KU.  To be fair, that was already the prevailing view.  Now it's just cast in titanium.

In Iowa State's defense the fans there were probally just booing themselves and their mediocrity.  Most fans are still booing the Hampton NCAA debacle whenever they get the chance.  Iowa State fans may also be booing whistles in general as those are usually the sign of an impending flood.

My personal experience in being around ppl that boo that much is that they do so out of not understanding the actual game.  When in doubt, and the ball is not in your team's hands, boo.

Really is a great cover all response.  Ppl around think the person boo'ing is super passionate and knows a bunch about the game and saw some subtlety that is worthy of being booed.

Not surprising coming from a crowd that use games simply as an opportunity to use the indoor plumbing and show off their new neck tattoos.

I wish I could say I was surprised when I heard the profanity echo throughout historic Phog Allen Fieldhouse, but I cannot.  Unfortunately, this seems to be a growing trend by our Jayhawk friends to the east.

I've taken it upon myself to write a rather lengthy and opinionated email to the chancellor expressing my embarrassment about last night's crowd and how their ugly and immature cheers brought shame upon the entire state.

Exactly.  Right or wrong, people's perceptions of the state largely have to do with the two BCS schools' athletic programs.  While K-State football is clearly the most obvious brand of the state, KU basketball is also featured on national broadcasts at times.  The fact of the matter is, their crass behavior during the winter months reflects poorly on all of us.

Just last week, I was in a meeting with pretty important client, and we were talking about where each of us came from.  I told him I was from Kansas, and he chuckled for a second and said "Oh, isn't that where people routinely chant 'BULL****, BULL****, BULL****!' when things don't go their way?"

I was mortified and humiliated.  Luckily the deal had already gone through and we'd moved onto scotch.  I doubt he would've said anything had he not had a couple of stiff ones already, but as they say "a drunk mans words are a sober man's thoughts."

Was out with incredibly elite clients and insisted they watch game with me.  Things were going fine, even though they are not huge AC/DC fans, until the swearing from the tv.  It was difficult to explain and I was caught off guard by the vulgarity.  I had to try and explain it was just a small group of fans but the Pres called me out and said "the whole place is chanting that filth, it's the loudest they've been except for Thubderstruck."

It was a humbling night, frankly.  I am sending them a Kansas Sampler of Alma cheese and Tallgrass to show them there is some class in the state.

I am sending them a Kansas Sampler of Alma cheese and Tallgrass to show them there is some class in the state.

 :barf:

I suppose you drink Rogue and Deschutes now :jerk:

Along with Widmer Bros and Bridgeport.  Tallgrass is okay, but it's nothing special.

I'm not tallgrass lover but Widmer is horrible...I got a six pack for like $3 at the awesome downtown Cosentinos grocer....threw it away.

Well it sounds like you bought a shitty six pack if it was only $3.  The Rotator IPA is legit.

Interesting. All of those beers can be found in Kansas. But, like, they just taste better on the west coast.

I'm not sure what this post has to do with anything.  Tallgrass is still a below average beer.

 :dunno:

I think you lost all beer credibility when you said that boulevard IPA is the beer of the rich.

Did you guys break out into a "eff KU" chant while sitting at home crying yourselves to sleep?

No, but we did start a thread talking about how much we hated it.

Guys, did anyone see the row of guys/ugly girls that had EMAW painted on them.  Didn't see what was in front of them, I assume it was eff or something classy like that.  Anyone confirm?

It said "RCJH << EMAW"

They painted it backwards!

I really hope someone has a pic of this.  That was priceless.

When did I say that?  Link?

And FWIW, Boulevard is the only brewing company from KC that actually travels to brew festivals throughout the world.  They were at the international brew festival in Portland last summer and had one of the better double IPA's on tap.

Who are the other KC brewing companies?  Don't say Granite City.

On my phone, so I can't give you a link, but it was along the lines of "us rich ku grads are hanging out in prairie village with our brisket and boulevard IPA".

East Coast clients "smoothed over" 48 hours later.   Several still want confirmation that no one in Kansas will be working on their stuff though.
