We're now tied for the Big 12 lead. We visit KU Monday night. We play the 'Clones here Saturday (our revenge) and they face Lon at OU Saturday (alma mater time, Lon).
I like our chances Monday. Get ready for Monday Meltdown, KU.
-
We're gonna get beat by 18, and it's fine.
-
KU will play their best game in a decade against out Cats. I hope it doesn't happen, but I'm pretty sure that is how it is gonna go. :sdeek:
-
We're gonna get beat by 18, and it's fine.
Yep. But I also thought we were gonna get blown out the first time.
-
Not starting the game down 22-4 will be progress, IMO.

QFT. Also- I actually didn't mind all the threes we shot, most were good looks. However, we need to actually make shots this time. So there's that.
-

yeah this. It would be nice to compete, but we won't. I'm not too worried about it. If we want to win the B12 we are going to need help regardless of if we win vs them on Monday or not.

This. Whatever is broken with ku will be fixed by then and improved upon to be a team strength.

Torn.
On the one hand, I want KU to beat OU, because there is no way in hell they lose 4 in a row...we would have no shot, and I'd enjoy beating KU.
On the other hand, KU losing to OU would put us in the running to get a share of the conference championship, but we all know basketball championships are nearly worthless.
This is a pickle. I think I root for KU to win at OU, and lose to use on Monday.
-
We're not winning at KU regardless, so go ahead and root for OU and don't be torn about it.
-

True, but it would be really fun to be champs in both. Really fun.
-
On the road, JoCo west, Sprads is going to have a huge game.

This, it's their superbowl. No football, no Mizzou, this is their biggest game of the year in any sport and it's not even close.

Yea, bball confy champs are really only worth something if you won football too. It's like that last 10% of conference ownership when you already have 90.
-
Guys, we're gonna get drilled. Discussing it is futile.
-
Angel
This crap won't even be a game.
-
You think Taco John's will have tickets?
-
Self has lost this team. Monday could get ugly for KU.

If we would tie KU in hoops (or anyone) then the front/back tshirts with Stoops quotes WILL happen.
It would be great.

It's a lot easier to lose 4 in a row when you've already lost the first 3. Also, if they lose 3 in a row, then I'm convinced that they're lost and won't be ready for Monday. No way they can turn around from Saturday to Monday and get all that fixed.

Would be the best shirt ever. But I think it's pretty much ours outright now that KU has given up on their coach and vice versa. :frown:

Assuming we both win Saturday, KSU will be ranked higher than KU, just curious when the last time KSU went to allen fieldhouse ranked higher than KU?

i don't think this is true

if ku wins saturday they will be 20-3 just coming off a decent road win, TCU will be thought of as a fluke and i don't think the voters will put us ahead of them. i could be wrong?

We have 4 losses. They have 3.

Ok lets say KU loses at OU and we win, whens the last time we went there ranked higher?
-
They had not lost 2 in a row in 264 games. If they lose 3 in a row they won't know how to recover and the tailspin will become a dumpster fire. OU is a must win for them. If they don't win Saturday, we'll win on Monday.

February 20th, 1982. We were #18, they were unranked. Cats won 63-53.
-

Eh, I'd like to hope so. We haven't went in there and not crap our pants at tipoff in awhile now though
-
Biggest event in Lawrence this year. It might be an actual sellout.

Join me in doing the right thing, Pete... To hell with TSC, root for ku to lose each and every time they take the floor. As demonstrated last night, the greater the underdog that beats them, the better life is the next day...

You sure about that?? I could've sworn we were ranked in '88 when Mitch Richmond scored 35 in Allen to break an insane home court winning streak and they were unranked for sure.

Maybe in the coaches, media guide (AP) says both teams were unranked.

Yeah I would have thought 88 for sure.

we are going to lose 1 or 2 or more games rest of the year.

Yeah I would have thought 88 for sure.
We weren't ranked for most of '88 because we looked pretty bad early in the year and had some non-con losses. They were not properly utilizing the talent of Mitch Richmond, and the offense had to be completely revamped over the Christmas break so that he basically got to touch the ball on every possession from that point on. So once conference play started they improved a lot and looked like a completely different team. They were blown out at #12 Purdue by 30 points in December and then end up beating #3 ranked Purdue in the NCAA tournament to advance to the Elite 8.

When you have a chance to win out and win the conference, that's not called "needing help regardless"

realistically: we won't win out. luckily, I doubt KU wins out. Monday is huge

We will lose Saturday, so eff Monday night. Iowa State owns us right now.

Oddly enough, we also played Southern Miss twice in the OOC (home and away) and lost both games.

I trust your research is accurate. I could've sworn we'd just gotten into the rankings by that point....
Those days are a bit hazy however.
:peek:
-
Should be at least a 10 point favorite, imo.
-
Self has lost this team. Monday could get ugly for KU.
A valid theory. The treatment of Elijah Johnson came across as really, really harsh, and then, "EJ's my guy". EJ is a senior, but haven't noticed whether he was a team leader on or off the floor. If he was either, Massa Seff may have shot himself in the foot and cost himself short- or long-term control of the team. I'm thinking if EJ was a leader on or off the floor, and now Massa Seff is doubling down his bet by describing the team play as the worst in program history. Wow.
Anyone here know if EJ is looked upon as a leader for our TSC brothers?
-
Angel, Rodney & Will (srlsy) will each score > 15 on Monday night and KSU will extend KU's losing streak to 4. :excited:

You may need a refresher course in how rankings work I'd advise you look at this weeks rankings. Of course we'll be higher than Kansas if we win on Saturday, its utter stupidity to think otherwise. It was a historical loss, if KU wins on Saturday they will be ranked around 20.

You are bad at understanding rankings. If both KU and KSU win on Saturday, KU will be ranked higher than KSU but it will be close.

The pud Lawrence arena is disgusting and smells like barf
-
Pretty sure we handle ISU handily. About 99% sure we lose on Monday. Funny thing is, I'm equally sure it won't be a blowout. We'll just trail the hawks by a 5-10 point margin the whole game. Never really embarrassing, but never in doubt. Doesn't matter how flawed KU is this year - they will always rise to the occasion against their in state rival.
Of course they usually have a far superior team, but that's not the only reason for this quarter century of domination. it's mental, too. Our guys get psyched out, and Bill always gets his team psyched up.
I honestly wonder if the Cats would be better off splitting their time between practice and seeing a sports psychologist for these games.
