Guys, I am not sure Eddie Money actually had booked two plane tickets departing that very evening to a paridise location. I think he was just inviting his lady to bone a bunch.
Thoughts?
-
Most songs are about sex and/or drugs, so you are probably right.
-
I don't pay attention to lyrics. Usually just make up my own words
-
It's a metaphor. Plane tickets = seats in a vehicle and Paradise = his apartment.

I think you may be on to something here.

Take The Boss's "Lucky Town" as an example.
House got too crowded clothes got too tight
And I don't know just where I'm going tonight
Out where the sky's been cleared by a good hard rain
There's somebody callin' my secret name
I'm going down to Lucky Town
Going down to Lucky Town
I wanna lose these blues I've found
Down in Lucky Town Down in Lucky Town
Sex, right?
Or what about Hanson?
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, ba duba dop
Ba du
Yeah
Mmmbop, ba duba dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du bop, Ba du dop
Ba du
Yeah
Oh yeah
In an Mmmbop they're gone
Yeah yeah
Sex, sex, sex, and more sex.

Pack your bags we'll leave tonight = go find your purse because the bar is closing.

When I see Eddie Money in that GEICO commercial I feel really really bad for him.

Lol, yeah, Eddie Money has a tough life. Sucks he got paid for that.
-
Pretty sure Eddie Vedder isn't singing about a glorified virgin and a pelican.
-
I know a spot that I love full well
Ever it holds me with magic spell
Thy children will swell the cry
:horrorsurprise:

I'm thinking The Whistle Song by Flo Rida might not be about a whistle. I think it's about life and how fleeting it is and you should live in the moment.
-
Had a debate with a friend about Hotel California.
Its like, for sure a song about drugs/rehab... RIGHT? He didn't seem to believe me. Thought that was common knowledge.

Can anyone tell me WTF is going on here? This has plagued me for many years:
There will be droughts and days inundated
Unveilings free from saturation
Departures raised with no masquerading
There will be teachers that die by their own hand
Pundits that push headlong for atonement
Friends and followers devoted to living
There will be watchers that ply for new confines
Those committed to society's circles
Unwary cogs with no cadence of virtue
There will be right
There will be wrong
Drop of the hat and it's already started
Just like that and the deed is done
What I'd give for that hat to be medicine
The time is now to be on the run
There will be machinations unforeseen
Sleepwalking sense from a bad dream
No promenade walk in the parkway
There will be catchwords filled with infection
Circulars to prop up occasion
No golden mean to guide the footsteps
There will be levels on high hills that appraise
There will be unchanging certainties
Barometers that follow the stampede
There will be right
There will be wrong
Drop of the hat and it's already started
Just like that and the deed is done
What I'd give for that hat to be medicine
The time is now to be on the run
There will be signposts of indication
Semaphore go signs and warnings
Hailstone halos and country-blues wailings
There will be strains that break out of straight time
To pave with grace different roads to the same place
No consequence to repay what's been given
There will be layers of means to an end
Drawn-out days before resolution
Dregs will rain down from all directions
There will be right
There will be wrong
Drop of the hat and it's already started
Just like that and the deed is done
What I'd give for that hat to be medicine
The time is now to be on the run

Yes. Had a friend who talked to Don Henley one time and he said it was about him becoming a Christian, but moreso about drug rehab.
"And I called up to the captain, please bring me my wine" - about communion
"We haven't had that spirit here since 1969" - apparently referencing a big Christian movement that was at the end of the hippie movement
This is probably my favorite lyric:
"They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast" - about cutting cocaine, not being able to "kill" their habit

This is really pretty simple, the guy ate some spicy tex-mex , had a couple of tequila's and had a bad dream which he wrote about

Did Jimi Hendrix really say "Excuse me, while I kiss this guy"?
I'm not judgmental, but very interesting.

Yeah, yesterday and today I've kind of just been blowing crap off. I am still doing my old job, so the people at my new job think I am super busy with my old job and the people at my old job think I am super busy with my new job. So, what's dobber to do? bbs of course.

I love this one:
It was a straight shot
All it took was luck to not get caught
I laid three dimes down and the machine wanted 25 cents
In the back seat her and a friend,
one out the window and the other on the other end
One belt loop away from Sunday night's news
If the part about being who he was didn't help Tom get loose,
what's a guy without a T. gonna get? Totally screwed,
while chicken wing puke eats the candy apple red off his Corvette
Three dimes down and 25 cents shy of a slice of the Double mint twins
Come back baby, Rock and Roll never forgets
-
Yet, all of Michael Jackson's songs are very easy to figure out...

wanted to give this one some love SF

Why does John Fogerty talk about a bathroom on the right in his song Bad Moon Rising? :D
Seriously now who can tell me what Run Through the Jungle is about?
