Title: Phog post of the day
Post by: EMAWzified on January 17, 2013, 07:53:11 PM
Just winding the stem in anticipation the clash of titans next week.
I'll start with this post made in response to Calipari's being unable to coach. Some smoo establishing his bona fides to have an opinion on Cal's abilities:

Quote
I have "coached."  Albiet a pre High School league known as GABL in the Johnson County area of Kansas City.  We did some pretty inredible stuff considering we were the "bad news bears." Started with them in 5th grade B league and won the end of the season A league touney their final year.  Coaching........I did some things.......Talent.......talent makes a shitty coach like me look good.  I picked up a couple of strays that put us over the top.  I kept it simple, put in a couple of presses to go along with our defense and offense and viola!
My point is Calimari may be getting way more credit than the slimeball deserves, talent makes anyone look good.  Even me.

I have zero respect for a WOP that leaves his players and program for chit.

Elite HBBIQers over there at the Phog, incredible that they can make such accurate comparisons between joco junior high basketball and high major hoops.

the ape room is a shadow of its former self, but it's a decent waste of time, the actual sports boards suck

I thought it was great that they totally burned Coach Calipari by calling him "Calamari".

Also really enhanced their image as an all accepting university by calling him a "wop"/

My friend's dad used to call Mike Moschetti (Colorado's QB in '97 or '98) "Spaghetti Moschetti."

Ultra harsh burn.

Did you tell her that "Flute Loops" would have been way funnier?

Along these same lines, one time in 8th grade I went to a Chiefs game and a super drunk Independence-y type guy kept yelling that we should throw the ball to "Boa Constrictor", like, all game long. I think he meant Marc Boerigter.

I love it when people apply/compare coaching grade school basketball to coaching high major basketball and are serious about the comparison. So great.

The hoops board used to have some pretty good big 12 threads with posters from other schools but I haven't seen that as much lately.  Is OU hoops still any good for threads with posters from other schools?

so sad to see alcohol continue to ravage their student athletes.

not trying to pass judgment on their institution, but maybe they just can't kick it without outside help?  maybe candy finnigan - she has ties to the KC area and her husband is an ex-bballer.  maybe someone here knows someone better?

It is stunning how sensitive KU basketball fan is, it's hard for anyone to see them as elite when they don't see themselves that way.

TB is great for the full-on crazy that occurs there regularly. The phog is just the same tired memes repeated over and over again.

I enjoyed the post about Noel should of been called for a foul on a couple of his blocks...

Their own center commits 26 fouls a game and is labeled as a good shot blocker

Trolling the phog isn't even fun anymore. It's kinda like those "hunting trips" that rich hicks take where the just release a bunch of birds from a cage and let the hunters massacre them all, except in the case of phog it's like they just dumped a bunch of butterball turkeys from Dillon's on the ground and were like "here shoot these".

Last caller on BITB was clearly a phognetter . . . whining about Keitzman take on the mu situation and the ku alum at the NCAA.

They always call with a similar angle, trying to get all pretend lawyer on BITB, and blam!  It's over before it started.

Note to phognet, the radio host screen the calls, they control the hold/mute button, they always get the last word.

This post was great:
Quote
After he came in with 4 fouls (and with around 6 minutes left...I remember because I remember texting a friend also watching the game how ridiculous this was) there was a struggle for a rebound and Noel shoved someone after the whistle and then swung at him when he turned around to say something. While this would have resulted in the announcing crew pleading for the refs to use the monitor if it had been the Morrii or T Rob, in Noel's case it was "A little physical there".
