I am looking into getting an apple TV. But the stereo that I want to hook it up doesn't have an HDMI or Optical audio input and just has the standard RCA input. I looked into an optical to digital adapter, but am skeptical that it only works digitally to optically. and I looked into an HDMI to RCA but according to reviews on amazon, those don't work either. Any ideas?

I have one and I have no idea what it really does. I rented a movie on it once.

What kind of "stereo" are we talking about here? Kind of concerning

Basically you can play your music wirelessly and hook up Netflix.

Out of everything that AppleTV does, you want to connect a stereo to it?? :confused:
Why not just play music from a computer wirelessly to it?

I got the Sonos play 3 recently. I am enjoying that. Do that for music.

Are you using a modern HDTV with an old school receiver/amp? If so, the TV should have stereo output over RCA.
so Apple Tv ->hdmi cable->HDTV-> red & white rca stereo cable-> receiver/amp
Only downside is you have to turn the TV on to listen to music

Maybe you could just spend a couple hundred bucks on a new receiver. :dunno:

There's already an appletv thread

Throw the stereo and everything in the garbage.
