Title: Favorite cars we don't have anymore
Post by: bones129 on January 08, 2013, 11:00:23 PM
My fav car ever is not what I have now. Instead, it's my long-gone 1968 Firebird (emerald green) which I bought very well-used. Loved it. Felt at home and at ease in it. It ran like crazy. Sold it, and have regretted it since. The 'Bird wouldn't have been an everyday car now, but it would see some miles.

mods merge with high school thread

O'Doyle RULEZ~+!!

No merge needed. Didn't get it in high school, but long, long after. Rebuild. Got it a few years ago on a whim. Find a '68 Bird and drive it. You'll like it...unless you can't handle it. It's not a Honda or a Toyota.

'90 Honda Prelude.  Fast, took corners like a champ, drivers seat touched back seat(I am very tall, felt like a cockpit)

It was black with racing stripes. Drove it in High School. Lots of chicks lost V-cards, I mean LOTS.

Miss that sex machine

A '90 Prelude as an eff-machine? Obviously a manufacturer's aberation.

All of my cars have been pieces of crap, don't really miss any of them.

I had a '74 CJ5 Wrangler. It was purple like the Wildcats and it was badass. I could pop wheelies in it.

But my current truck is probably my favorite vehicle I've ever owned.

I hate when people say v-cards, also man-cards. Makes me want to punch them in the h-card. (head)

Sometimes I miss my 1997 F-150. I had it until I had kids. But it was just a regular cab. OMG KIDS RUIN EVERYTHING AMIRITE?!

This thread = good idea + poor execution.

I will throw in that I loved all my cars and miss all of them for different reasons

1964 Chevrolet pickup - could not take to college because it got about 8 mpg and had 3 gears
1997 Chevrolet Cavalier - If you ordered pita pit between 2006-2009 you saw this car
2003 Lexus IS300 - some drunk bad person totaled it when it was parked on a street near westport

I can't say I loved all of my cars. I had an '82 Datsun diesel truck that I absolutely hated.

Drove this sucker the first year after I turned 16 and anytime I was grounded after that. Man was she a beut.

1989 Toyota Minivan LE(Luxury Edition). Cool features about this car included

Named Cletus
Moon/Sun Roof in back.
Mini Cooler in front, big enough for a 6pack.(Refrigeration no longer worked)
You sat on the engine.
200,000+ Miles
Did not fare well over 55mph
You could start it with a screw driver...No joke, literally stick a flathead screw driver in the ignition and turn
Key Broke off in Lock of driver side door so I always kept the window behind door cracked so I could reach arm in manually unlock door.
Friends knew about the last 2 and sometimes I would come out of football practice and my car would be moved across the parking lot.
Cletus spent his last few years of life as My brother and I's lawnmowing van, take out he backseats and you can fit 2 push mowers in.

I became a caddy for 2 months because of the movie caddyshack. Imagine this buet parked in the parking lot of Indian Hills CC.

Instead of buttons around the wheel and dash, this car had mostly levers. One of the levers was labeled "amplifier". Sure enough, when you pulled the lever, the radio would play much louder through the shitty speakers.

Glad some non-retards rescued this thread.

First: '97 Ford Explorer
(https://goemaw.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages04.olx.com%2Fui%2F1%2F41%2F88%2F13883388_2.jpg&hash=a0aab7c06589a7e28d3146fad4290526c5d4c6e1)

Second, after 8bropick hit a deer and totaled the first: '89 Buick Century
(https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRP-DLrRzHdQmT8q0LbFXUCWsAVew800JGZ1kqz9jUAxZGF2XXO7Q)
Didn't look good, but was pretty fast and fun to drive with a V6

Third: '92 Buick Park Avenue
(https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTcuqjokQLWLz8p20wTWfFaLqDmMMSh8v_6LNWWWfToea7LTQQe)
Drove from the last month of high school '06 until Christmas day 2012.  Loved it and it served very well for a hand me down from 8grandmapick, but it had pretty much gone to crap the last few years. Incredibly comfortable road trip car.

Current: '05 Toyota Camry
(https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS6FETAk9y2QUepkwUWMdLV_DaN2qAJd3Q1yvCFul21FQzadBqETg)
After the Park Ave, I'm the opposite of spoiled when it comes to cars, so I am super excited about things like working heat/AC, speakers that aren't blown out, windows I don't have to roll up with a hand wired switch, and a CD player!  :excited:  No sun roof though  :frown:

I can see how that 7 gets really close to the 4 on the num pad and when the vision starts going it can be hard to distinguish, so I fixed it for you.

No way. That Datsun pickup was a diesel and it would get 40 mpg. And the green Nissan truck would get close to 30.

In no particular order and closest to the real car I could find, some of them are just way too exotic I guess
1976 Ford F-100. Was my grandpas at first, bro y-l_a1 drove it after and beat the crap out of it, bro y-l_a 2 had it inserted subwoofers bump bump  :emawkid:, then much later I periodically drove it until the neighbors tree fell on it.. If anyone remember a 2 tone blue ford at MHS  :gocho:
(https://goemaw.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv55%2FFerrariferg%2FF-150%2FIMG_3103.jpg&hash=1b988ec9fadab7c9cd99fb69ec4e67030f117660)

A friend of mine had a shittier version of this truck. (IIRC, it also had subs). Anyway, it was such a piece of crap that he would just leave his keys in it all the time, and our school was in the middle of nowhere so it didn't matter. One morning I parked next to him just outside our wood shop class and said hi to him on the way in. I had wood shop that day and it was hilariously slow, so a couple of us were just hanging around the garage door and I noticed his truck. He was actually working or something so I got in and moved it to the other side of the parking lot where he couldn't see it. Came back and was sweeping the floor or some stupid crap with my buddy and I was just casually chatting for a couple minutes, then I looked outside and I was like, "Um, friend, didn't you park next to me this morning?"

"OH eff SOMEONE STOLE MY TRUCK!"

We stopped him before he got to the office and had lots of laughs. Crazy times, fellas!

I am the victim of a similar story. My old truck you could pop out into neutral without the keys, and also release the parking brake. And it like didnt even have door locks. So one day i was leaving my job in high school and my coworkers had rolled it down the hill to the extreme other end of the parking lot behind a tree. i freaked out.

I knew a girl that drove an electric Fiero that her (engineer or something) dad built for her.  It was super quiet.  She liked to roll up behind you in the parking lot and just sit there till you turned around and freaked cause there was a car sitting right in front of you.   Lol, she was such a prankster.

except for it being unusually heavy, it's about a perfect car.  but being really heavy made it nails in the snow, even with RWD.

mich bro y-l_a2 actually had that truck stolen. he was at a party and left the keys in it. luckily he never kept any gas in it, he noticed it was stolen a little later and called the cops. I mean it was a blue two tone ford truck pretty rough ridin' easy to spot. well anyways they found it on a gas station on highway 24 close to where the party was. the cops got it back and y-l_a2bro also got a a full tank. these guys also apparently had a bunch of crap they had stolen in the back of the truck and were headed to topeka. weird story.

nicname's bro (squawk) was riding bitch (on the console) in a Fiero when him and his buddies (EMAWs) were dicking around on a gravel road in HS.  They rolled it. I wonder if getting into one of those rental car timeshare plan things is the way to go here.

I always took the Jitney out to the Hamptons during the years I was with the girl who had a house + car out there.  Totally spoiled.  Last summer I rented a car to go out.

Otherwise, I've had a timeshare in Fire Island where cars aren't even allowed, so you go there by train and travel around on bikes and boat taxis, and this is what I recommend for most folks.  (Not sure if Sandy left anything on Fire Island... )

I am not weven sure they had that when I lived there.  I sure as hell didn't know about it.  Just used the hell out of my girl's dad's car service.

Second:

add sunroof

Third/Current:

add pak head spare tire cover

(https://goemaw.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.thecarconnection.com%2Flrg%2F2010-jeep-wrangler-4wd-2-door-sahara-angular-rear-exterior-view_100242886_l.jpg&hash=b230e697f57d8d6c1b397f13fc4cca0bdf40dc77)

I guess I liked the Ford better than the Tercel, but the Tercel had more funny crap happen in/to/around it.
