10. These are factoids that I remember from that tourney ( i probably remember a lot of it wrong):
We were a 4 seed and played Depaul. We won easily.
We then beat LaSalle who had the L-Train. Lionel Simmons. I think.
Then we beat Purdue, the overall #1 seed on pretty much their homecourt. Major upset.
Then we got beat by KU because Scooter Barry went nuts for like 74 points.

Keep expecting to wake up and hear
The Wildcats miracle season ended last night as they fell to Coastal Carolina U 74 - 58 in the opening round of the CBI. Immediately after the game, John Currie made an announcement that Jim Wooldridge had been signed to a 3 year extension. "We're just so proud of how he's handling the program, and are glad he finally made it into the program. We look forward to a long successful relationship going forward."

Close....we beat LaSalle first, then DePaul. I also believe DePaul made a late run in the game, but did win by 7 or 8.

KSU freshman year. Watched Pudont game at Charlies, then bought tix and began the road-trip to the Silverdome before we had a chance to sober-up.
-
11. Went absolutely bonkers when we beat Purdue.
Was completely crushed two days later.

I've been a KSU Men's basketball fan for as long as I can remember.
My earliest memories of following them closely come from the 1988 NCAA tourney when I was six years old.. I remember making my parents telling me what days there were games so I could wear my purple shirt to the first grade. I remember getting so excited after learning what an "upset" was when we beat Purdue. It wasn't long before Scooter Barry broke my heart, and I thought to myself, "What the f#ck kind of name is Scooter? WTF?!?"
Ever since then KSU Men's basketball has torn me down every time I get my hopes up.
I remember getting my giant thin-paper brackets from Pizza Hut so I could follow my Cats through the tourney. I lost interest after filling out "Xavier" and "Minnesota" the first day.
After going nuts after Dana beat Roy in the B8 tourney, I rushed home to watch some dude without a neck from Tulane hit a buzzer beater to beat us.
After the New Mexico blowout, I thought, "Hey, that Manny Dies is just a freshman. We're gonna be good!"
Most of you should know what happens next.
KSU MBB had done nothing but fail miserably every time there was a small window of optimism as long as I can remember. That's why I'm skeptical.
Sorry for the gayness.

I was 13. Steve Henson's dad (Mike) was our track coach. Steve came back home during the week after the loss and came to one of our practices. I remember asking him if he was going to go watch any of the final four games and his reply was "No, I don't think I could stand to be around all those KU fans." Dude was total EMAW
