Title: I know its not an uncommon sentiment
Post by: CHONGS on December 31, 2012, 03:32:17 PM
but I just hate hate hate HATE Paul Rhoads.  He is such a damn phony and a crappy 3 win a year coach.  Can't stand listening to his corny bullshit speeches anymore.  JFC.  He's the worst Jerry, the worst.

A little OT, but I don't get why their fans travel so well. They drive hours just to watch mediocre teams.

Because they are simple, God fearing people, who like simple, God fearing things, like 6 win seasons and below average coaches.

And apparently Liberty Bowl losses to a C-USA team.

I saw some ISU fan on twitter say "this is NOT ISU football"

2012  6-7
2011  6-7
2010  5-7
2009  7-6

ummmmmmm.... looks pretty iowa state to me!

Let's be honest here, as long as ISU is not the worst team in the conference and gets to go to a bowl game (no matter how pud it is) their fans are rough ridin' ecstatic. It must be nice to have so little make you happy; good for them!

the big 12 is the greatest collection of coaches compared to any other conference so i feel rhoads is probably not as bad as people think.  he would be upper half in other major conferences.

isu still sucks though.

How the hell is it possible for one team to beat another team by double digit points and lose to the same team by double digit points in the same god damn season?  Seems like one of the biggest coaching indictments you can have.

If Nebraska didn't literally give the game away to ISU a few years ago, would Rhoads be on the hot seat?

EDIT: Someone at CycloneFanatic really wants to their flood prone team to win their Super Bowl:

Quote
Aug. 31 NORTHERN IOWA - W
Sept. 14 IOWA - W
Sept. 21 at Tulsa - L
Oct. 3/5 TEXAS - L
Oct. 12 at Texas Tech - W
Oct. 19 at Baylor - L
Oct. 26 OKLAHOMA STATE (FW) - L
Nov. 2 at Kansas State - W
Nov. 9 TCU (H) - L
Nov. 16 at Oklahoma - L
Nov. 23 KANSAS - W
Nov. 29/30 at West Virginia - L

5-7 assuming Iowa continues to blow ballsac.

That's not very nice.  If it wasn't for the flooding, losing, ugliness, and general sucking at life, ISU is pretty much the same as KSU.

A conundrum Felix.

It would be the plant, because Iowans are simple, humble folk.  While they might be allowed a small measure of delusional pride, it is  outsiders that would be taken with the folksy goodness and would rave at the community, unaware of the very real problems within.

It's really hard for them to watch their major sports programs languish in irrelevance while we take center stage in BCS bowl games.  But, hey, what can they do about it?

They have it worse than that because Rhodes consistently gets them to the postseason. If Wooly would have gotten us into the NIT every year instead of getting snubbed, he might still be coaching our basketball team.

If Rhoads had won just one additional game each of his four seasons, we wouldn't even have this conversation.

If Snyder would've won one additional game in each of his 4 seasons, we would have won the north, skipped the pinstripe fiasco, had a share of Big 12/been in BCS, and be playing in the NC.

It was a short time ago (2 years?) we got spanked 52-0 by Oklahoma. We are in every game and overachieved every year against a top 10 schedule. We are more than two seasons away from this discussion unless we go a tragic 5-19 or worse in that span.

5-19 is the cutoff line.

Rhodes has recruited marginally well, grading on a curve.  He just recently picked up a top 5 wide out for 2014.  I was listening to some hawt Des Moines sports talk while my dude Gottlieb was on commercial and even the sports talk guys don't want to go after him.
