Title: Ken Burns
Post by: nicname on December 21, 2012, 10:52:58 AM
His docs are a great way to pass that a long break.

Baseball is my all-time fave. Cycling "The War" and "The Civil War" right now.

You guys watch the Extra Innings (or whatever it is called) of the Baseball doc?  Really good stuff.  I believe I'm getting all the Baseball discs for XMas.

The Civil War and The Dust Bowl are both stunning works of art, IMHO.

I watched The Civil War a long time ago but I think I will do it again. My interest in the subject was rekindled recently when I read a quote essentially saying that the American civil war was the first "modern war" in terms of weaponry, but it was fought at time when medicine was still in the middle ages. Crazy. I mean would you like to get shot in the civil war? No way imo. No way.

The West
The Civil War
The War
Baseball
National Parks
Jazz
Prohibition
The Dust Bowl

All on Netflix. Jazz and Prohibition are my personal favorites. I've watched parts of all of them and they're all incredible.

Yes I read that sanitization issues caused a large portion of the deaths.
