Speaking of attendance, I didn't see our asshat AD in the crowd.  Was he there???  If we have to watch this pathetic excuse of a coach, he should have to as well.  I looked several times near the bench to see if he was there taking notes, but I couldn't find him.

currie was there sitting in the same seats that he has since pay frank. seven minutes before the game there were about 1k there and then by halftime i'd say it filled up to around 3.5k or so. five students could've walked in five minutes before tip and all sat together half court fourth row and no i'm not blaming them. if the AD sends a clear message that they don't care about high level winning basketball at kstate then why should the students?

There was hardly anyone in the buiding. I think they included an extra 0 in the 12,005 number, we will be lucky to get 9,500 when KU comes to town. Heck the Bram only holds 12,528.

This makes me wonder if the money Jamar received at that Western Union was exaggerated as well. At this point, it's all moot.  :jerk:

IN ENGLISH!!!!! :chainsaw: I mean, you could have used numbers and then we'd understand, but no, you had to be all cool and say, "a buck twofifty."
Is that $1 + $2.50,

or $12.50
or $1250.00
or is it just $250?
Which is it?!!!! :curse:

OMG I know.  I got tuck blasted on twitter last night for simply saying that shane is not the answer at 4.

oscar was on 610 this afternoon tooting his own horn about putting shane there and how that was the difference to give rodney the spacing he needed to produce better than he did in Seattle.

oscar did this for Rod by changing the line up.

I mentioned this during the Gonzaga game, he had Shane guarding Olynyk and it was ugly.  So the response to this was to start Shane out of position.

we used to make fun of KU for stuff like this.   :frown:

K-State has announced tickets sold as the official attendance number in both football and men's basketball for years and years. It rarely matches butts in seats. This isn't new. Last FB season vs Iowa State, the announced was 47392. Tickets scanned and used was more like 35K becuase of the weather.

But, don't let facts get in your way.
Title: Re: 12005
Post by: CNS on December 19, 2012, 04:46:51 PM
we all know and understand that.  He was referencing how KU football announces the sold number while showing stands that have a HUGE discrepancy.  It's one thing to announce a capacity when you see a crowd that is reasonably close to it, it's another to announce a capacity and see something that is 30%-40% of it.  This is why we have made fun of KU football and what they report.

Per 610 interview today, could tell oscar really likes "small ball".  Not sure if he likes the idea and what he thinks it does for his team, or if he just really enjoys saying "small ball", but he said it like 6 times in a 2 min period today.

We used to make fun of KU for "stuff like this" meaning the huge discrepancies between tickets sold and tickets scanned/turnstiles.  I made no claims regarding KSU making anything up.  Your incredibly defensive response speaks for itself.  I'll just offer that I really wasn't trying to be provocative or suggest that there was an effort to make anything up.  Then again, when every single game so far people have been brought in from who knows where to fill the empties courtside, it says about as much as you did about the defensiveness regarding butts in seats.

I think you mistook irritation as defensiveness. I was irritated that you were implying that this was the first game ever where the butts in seats number was way lower than announced, when in fact it happens alot here. Its happened in MBB for sveral games every year dating back to Huggins.

Attendance this year hasn't been great, not disagreeing with that central point.

Yeah, reporting it however the eff they want doesn't seem like a big deal to me.  What does seem like a big deal, and a sign of the apathy of a significant portion of the fanbase, is that there were no more than 5,000 people at the game on Tuesday.  That didn't happen at any time in the last 6 years.

well i mean i guess you can probably self upgrade to anything in the world as long as all parties involved and around are cool w/ it. i heard that the bram may be taking matters into their own hands this year though and proactively moving people into them in effort to make the stands look more full on tv. thought c-crap might be able to tell me whether this was happening or not.

I imagine the garths aren't cool with using randos to fill the courtside folding chairs, or having empty folding chairs that need filling in the first place.

How great would it be if you were courtside and the seats next to you were empty? Can you imagine laying out across some chairs and taking a nap during a game? If anyone was watching on TV (I know, I know, ell oh ell), they would probably just laugh their ass off when they saw that. Some rando, courtside, just taking a snooze. Would be a pretty great summary of brucesketball if you ask me.

I'm sure next year the court side seats will be gone as well when the Bram officially returns to its Wooldridge/Asbury former self.

Man, you would have thought that Currie would have checked around a little bit to see what it was like at the Bram before Frank.  He had it pretty good.

I guess we can just chalk it up to lessons learned!

Those courtside seats really are amazing. You get free concessions delivered to your seat, free beer (but you have to go up top to drink it), and your feet are right next to the wood.

Wow, that sounds elite.  I remember in those real important games when we were playing good teams and Garth would get all animated and the staff would have to come over and tell him to keep his feet off the court.

One other thing I was thinking about are the poor people that bought those loge boxes!

Man, I'm kicking myself for throwing close to $2,000 out the window this year for my season tickets.  I can only imagine how mad those guys are.

Those boxes include the courtside seats. You have to go up to your box if you want to grab a beer out of the mini-fridge. Then you can go back to your courtside seat at the next timeout. I can't imagine people are using them for most games this year. It might be possible to upgrade your seats for a game if you call the ticket office and ask.

I didn't know that.  That sounds like it would be a good gig, if I still cared at all about basketball.

One thing I remember about being a student during the Asbury/Wooldridge days was when KU would come to the Bram to kick our dicks in the dirt and there would be 6,000 KU fans.  That was always fun too.

I think Currie honestly may not have realized that this is the way it was prior to Huggins/Frank.  It's quite plausible.  I mean, how could he have known?!!

I remember a couple years ago, whenevs Dom would get some elite break away dunk after a Denis steal and a couple guys in those seats would stand up and step forward to give Dom five as he ran by.

Really felt good even though it wasn't me.  One of those completely amazing EMAW moments that you can live vicariously through others.

This is legit. I remember seeing that and thought if I ever win/inherit/earn enough $ to sit that close to the action, I would never be able to keep them as I would continue my verbal assault on the S Collins and McElbow Twins all game long and be asked to move back to row 7 where I'm not an embarrassing disruption.
