Post by: sonofdaxjones on December 15, 2012, 05:05:10 PM
gun confiscation just around the corner, Patriot Act enhanced, NDAA and indefinite detention of American Citizens . . .

Just another day under the Barry W. Obama Administration

Just say NO to trouncing civil liberties . . . Unless a Democrat is President

Yeah, that is scary.  Don't think it has all that much to do with who is president, probably would have happened if McCain or Romney won too.  The terrorists won 9-11 completely.  Mission Accomplished.

Not scary if you aren't a terrorist.

Want me to report you for suspicious terrorist-like activities? Bet I could get you on a list, at minimum.

I'd say it's more scary for non-terrorists than it is actual terrorists.

See this is where the government just wastes taxpayer money. They'll spend billions creating and storing all this information in a quasi-legal manner instead of just creating a Facebook account were it's readily available for free.

8man had a great post.  Though I wouldn't say the terrorists won.  I doubt there goals are aligned with that of satanist factions in government.  I do think that these factions have utilized tragic events to gain support for increasingly intrusive measures.  I don't like it.  I'm not sure how citizens can combat it.

Remember how a significant portion of the brainwashed were convinced all the supposed "evils" of the previous administration were going to be rolled back if Obama was elected?

FWIW you can go comb through kstatefans or whatever the hell it is today for my ardent posts against the Patriot Act because it would be expanded. Power corrupts etc.

Frightened people are easily controlled.

No, docile apathetic people are easily controlled. Frightened people turn into unruly mobs. Intelligent people question authority.

No. Angry people turn into mobs. Frightened people seek protection wherever they perceive it to be.

No. Angry people turn into mobs. Frightened people seek protection wherever they perceive it to be.

Frightened people seek security in larger groups that then lash out in anger at the perceived threat. Frightened people are not easily controlled, just the opposite.

Edit: If you want to control somebody, give them a sense of security.

Woof.

I'd like to think that using crime statistics as a valid (blanket) justification for reasonable suspicion and/or probable cause would get shot down immediately in court. But the War on Drugs and to a somewhat lesser extent the Patriot Act have debased the meanings of reasonable suspicion and probable cause so effectively that I wouldn't be surprised if this "martial law light" policy got held up in the courts. If that happens, life in this country is about to get very unpleasant in quite a few places.

Eh, I don't think the terrorists give a crap about whether or not America is free.

Plus, in the meantime, we're still bumming around in the middle east.
