He really hasn't listed any points.
-
young QBs tend to turn the ball over quite a bit.
-
So we should only play old QBs?
-
So we should only play old QBs?
Chris Weinke played pretty well :dunno:
-
So we should only play old QBs?
what? no, but we should expect that Sams is going to have a period of growing pains.
-
I could careless. I just wanted to get a cassy's nomination for best named thread. I think I succeeded.
-
I don't think Sams is more prone to turnovers than some guy that bucket wants just because he is white.
-
Personally I think we get our asses waxed by Texas next year in Sams' first B12 start.
-
Sans will struggle some next year, and he will make some jaw dropping plays too. I hope he does well enough to win lots of games, but I'm nervous.
-
I think he will be amazing and do really well. I only base that off of what I've seen, though.
-
The temptation to compare to Ell in 01 is strong but we will be better at Oline, light years better at WR and the backs may not be quite as good but will be fine.
Also, from what limited throws we got to see from Sams he has better touch than Ell did, especially 01 Ell. We should still be a punishing running team and those 7 yard outs will be open all year long.
-
Next year is Sams THIRD year in Snyder's system. He'll make a few mistakes, but he'll be great mainly.

So was Ell in 01, fanning.
-
10-2 next year. There, I said it.

Tubs leaving and the chance of crap hire in Lubbock (we have never won anything but a squeaker there) helps

lol, good one

I concur

They're just so mad at us for "We own Texas" :embarrassed:
However, if John "Johnny Football" Hubert has a monster day, I think we pull it out :crossfingers:

But the losses on defense next year...

We're "light years" better at WR next year?
TLBL's uncle played on the '01 team fwiw.
-
Bucket lists are dumb and played out.
-
Sams/Ell 01 isn't a great comparo bc ell had garbage WR's and an injury riddled Oline.
-
TLBL's uncle was ruined that season by the dirty play of scum bag Polamolu
-
Sams/Ell 01 isn't a great comparo bc ell had garbage WR's and an injury riddled Oline.
Who are our non-garbage receivers next year besides Lockett?
Do people think Miller is going to start not being bad next year?

TT is good and has been pretty clutch all year

I'm telling you, '01 wide-receiving corp is getting shafted by a lot of people.
Taco, Aaron Lockett, Ricky Lloyd and Polite weren't garbage. Brandon Clarke was also on that team. He may or may not have been garbage.
Sams is going to have growing pains just like every other young QB has had. But that's okay, because I think he's going to be pretty great when it's all said and done.
-
ricky lloyd was garbage

sorry I wasn't trying to make a comparo, I was just trying to interject that we have many non-garbage WRs. Many.
-
ricky lloyd was garbage
then so is curry sexton
this distinction is stupid is what i'm trying to say. our receiving corp next year is not worlds better than '01. the Ell '01/Sams '13 comparisons are spot on i think. he's going to do incredible things sometimes, but then also do things like check to an option, run the wrong way, and pitch it to nobody, because that's what young quarterbacks do sometimes.
-
I think Deante Burton is gonna be pretty good :dunno:
-
I think Deante Burton is gonna be pretty good great :dunno:
The one wide receiver is am looking forward to seeing is Andre Jackson he is BIG dude 6-5 225 should be able to replace some of the things Harper did for us.
-
Yeah, without someone who can go beast out like harp did, our wr corps is average at best.
-
Yeah, without someone who can go beast out like harp did, our wr corps is average at best.
Yeah, we need another big receiver.
And Tannahill at TE, but hopefully McDonald gets himself out of the doghouse.
But again, I'm probably more concerned about defense for next year.
-
Mark it down. The offense will be a joy to watch next season. There will be some bumps along they way but they are going to score plenty of points and do so in high fashion. Defense is likely to take a greater hit, but will not suffer a catastrophic drop.
As long as expectations are kept in check it will be a very fun and exciting ride. We will all smile often next season.
-
I don't think our offense will be fun to watch if the defense is as bad as I think it might end up being. However, there are a lot of schools who are losing their starting QB's, so maybe it won't be as bad. juco recruiting will make or break it.
-
Yeah, without someone who can go beast out like harp did, our wr corps is average at best.

Thought Trujillo had a few bright spots this year...he should at least comparable to Tannahill.
Also, can confirm that he is far less :opcat:
And Baby Gronk!?!
-
Why does everyone assume Sams will throw exactly like Ell? Racism?
-
yes, the title of the thread and all
-
Personally I think we get our asses waxed by Texas next year in Sams' first B12 start.
LOL, Case McCoy just had his career game by like 1000%. He isn't turning into something, he just had his own personal perfect game. Him and Ash both will return to normal crap before their bowl game let alone by next year. Mack better get an awesome Frosh QB or a JC QB now or he may not survive next season.
-
yes, the title of the thread and all
the thread title makes it sound like bucket thinks Dsams is racist. fanning mumped it up. Bucket is the racist.
-

Good point. Put me on record as predicting Sams will throw exactly like Peyton Manning.

I didn't eff anything up. If you don't understand the title, you're a dumbass.

Snyder's offense is nothing like it was in 2001. The passing game is far less risky now.
-

Could be just that CK had very good decision making skills. I think there's still plenty of risky throws out there if you try to do too much. (Which Ell was guilty of at times, especially early in his career.) Plus, Ell had a rough ridin' cannon so Snyds would likely call different plays for a dude like him or Bishop than he would with a CK, CC, GG, etc. I think we should take Fat Beas' playset into consideration. Unfortunately, i was actually at every one of his starts and therefore Pak'd out of my mind and only vaguely remember his career.
-
I could careless. I just wanted to get a cassy's nomination for best named thread. I think I succeeded.
Please let me give the induction speech.
-
I don't think Sams is more prone to turnovers than some guy that bucket wants just because he is white.
I think Sams about threw one pick in six pass attempts this last season. In mop up duty. Waters was the best pure passer in junior college. Like I said. Options are good.
-
I'm so racist btw. This guy :opcat: works for me.
-
WHAT THE eff HAPPENED TO MARQUEZ CLARK!!!!!!111!!!11!!

There are also far more plays where the first option is a short, easy pass by design.
-
My point is that Sams can run as good as anybody. He throws a DART. That does not make you a great QB. He will be a sophomore next year. His passes were not impressive this season. He was not recruited by any other team as a QB.
Get QB recuits to compete with this sophomore. Make Sam Johnson third string.
I'm also a huge racist! Carson Coffman and John Houlik for life!
-
I don't think Sams is more prone to turnovers than some guy that bucket wants just because he is white.
Dumb, I want Sams to compete with someone other than Sam Johnson, because Sam Johnson sucks. He sucks bad.
-
His passes were not impressive this season.
What was not impressive about them?
-
He left two fade routes short. Make one of those and this thread doens't exist, IMO.
-

He nearly threw a pick in one out of his six pass attempts. It was in the corner endzone and I believe it was against MountainAggie.
I don't deny he has the arm. I'm just saying I worry about him managing a game.
-
ban this racist piece of crap.

Kim Carnes love
I loved the crap out of Alan Webb, but these athletes don't always pan out.

Which, I believe, fits in fairly well with my post. I'm not saying you're wrong by any means, just throwing in a thought I had.

How are Alan Webb and Sams similar? Why are they "these athletes?"

If only "those athletes" had the FBIQ and hard work ethics of "other athletes", right guys?

I'm in the camp that says that pretty much any qb who is a RS sophomore or younger is prone to TOs. I also believe bringing in quality qb depth is never a bad thing. Finally, I think Sams is going to have a terrific career at KSU when all is said and done, but his first year will probably involve growing pains.

We've already established the hierarchy of dumbness of K-State QBs. We have also established that dumbness equates with athleticism.

ha ha, I love reading old threads like that. Like a fine wine.

RG3 was the #4 dual threat qb in the country with a ton of offers. You really think none of those schools wanted him to play QB? And Bishop was 15 yrs ago...

JT, give Stevie a break. Sometimes he gets KU mixed up with KSU. They are the ones who can't seem to recuit a QB that can make it at the D1 level.

How many interceptions did Waters almost throw?

No one can deny the fact that we need another QB. Bringing one who could compete with Sams would just make it that much better. Not because I don't love Sams, but because competition is a good thing.

waters had no offers out of high school because he sucked. he has almost no offers now because he sucks.

I don't think Peyton Manning is walking through the door, so there is no one that could compete with him.

His passes were not impressive this season.
What was not impressive about them?
He nearly threw a pick in one out of his six pass attempts. It was in the corner endzone and I believe it was against MountainAggie.
He threw 8 passes.

Yeah, but that doesn't discount the fact that one of them almost could have been nearly intercepted.

He is really fast and he has a cannon for an arm. That doesn't automatically make you a great QB.
Like you said he has only thrown 8 passes therefore we have no idea what we have in this kid. There's a very real chance we experience some serious growing pains with him next year. Why not give yourself the option of having someone else to turn to besides Sam Johnson.

Sorry, Bucket, this thread is about you giving us all a public beating with your argument that Sams can't throw the ball very well.
-
Go watch the end of the OSU game again. Sams made some pretty great passes. Only one was more than ten yards, but it wasn't that bad. All of the short ones were spot on.
-
Sams laser cannon arm can teleport the ball to anywhere on the field at any time. He just needs to learn the correct time and place.
It will come from experience and training.
-
He is really fast and he has a cannon for an arm. That doesn't automatically make you a great QB.

No, your argument was that Sams is athletic, but will turn it over when we are down.
Sams didn't throw much this season but when he did he made questionable decisions. I will not deny his athletic ability, but when you're down you can't risk turning it over.
-
yeah, "almost nearly" throwing an interception prolly means he's rough ridin' garbage.
I'll take almost throwing picks any day to fumbling away a Big 12 title/National title birth.
-
:sdeek:
:flush:
-
I would imagine Sams has thrown thousands of passes this season in practice, and Bill and the staff know exactly how good he is. JFC, it's not like these guys just sit on their asses all week and only play football on Saturdays.
