Title: Auto Insurance Claim Advice
Post by: Winters on December 06, 2012, 12:07:55 PM
I am wondering if there are any guidelines/threshholds about when to submit a claim in regards to the estimate and your deductible. For example, I recently hooked a guyline while backing up and damaged the front bumper, wheel well liner, and a "deflector" that I think prevents water, snow, etc from getting thrown up into the engine compartment. $820 estimate and I have a $500 deductible. 1 speeding ticket in the last 7 years and one minor claim for a parking lot accident about 6 years ago. I am thinking of paying for it out- of- pocket. All opinions are appreciated!

If it were me, I would not submit a claim for that.

Fix it yourself

if you aren't mechanically inclined pay out of pocket.  I would say don't go insurance unless its over 1k.

Pay it out of pocket. I don't know of any guidelines per say, but this meets my guidelines for don't even think twice about opening up the wallet.
