REVISED:*
10-3 OOC, 11-7 Big 12.
*The league is just not that great this year and I think this team will come around. Big 12 teams lost a lot of games over Thanksgiving week, ours was far from the worst performance. Its hard to look an anyone outside of KU and OSU right now (and OSU's youth will likely be up and down) and think we won't (at worst) split. Its not like it will be some impossibility to beat KU either.

I just think the Big XII is a steaming hot pile of crap and we will play well. Probably will lose vs GU and UF but won't have any bad losses OoC (KEY POINT HERE!!)

This does not seem likely.
-
Saul makes some good points, I revised my pick.
The Big 12 is not that great and we have an experienced team with decent talent.

10-3 ooc (losses to Mich, Zags, Gators

Man, what if we win one of our games against Gonzaga or Florida? Would your expectations skyrocket?
I would feel a lot better that's for sure. Once we win a semi-tough to tough road game I will be happy.
I am worried about winning road games and am (irrationally?) worried about the GW game.

It's not irrational to worry about any game at this point. Our team is still a huge question mark.

i'm with saul. cats were 10-8 last year and only lost jamar. tcu is much worse than a&m was and west virginia will not be as good as mu last year. expectations should be for 11-12 conf wins.

If we finish below .500 in conference play this year oscar should be fired on the spot. It would be a complete disaster with this team and this schedule. I don't think it will happen. Probably 10-8.

It's so hard to say. I mean, I don't expect us to roll by 30 like we did against the Fighting Chipmans of the world, but I don't expect to get dominated like we did by Michy. I guess I just picture us being close in most games but not having the one guy step up and will the game to a W for us. I just don't see that intensity in the short time we have played so far. Hopefully that comes as the team gells more into the Weber mold. Who knows.
Looking at the conf, I came up with a range of 10-8 to 7-11 in my mind. :dunno:
I won't say that I would be happy at .500 or higher, because we should always be there. I am still just really mind f'ed by this whole thing.
-
Angel will always step up, in tight games, if Weber will let him. I haven't watched a full game and I know that.

We'll finish 10-8 in the conference, make the tourney as a 7-10 seed, and then lose in the 2nd round.

Yeah. I'm with this guess.

I don't like how the conference schedule sets up for this team. If we don't beat OSU at home to start I am not sure this team ever gets over .500 in conference :frown:
-
18-14 (7-11)

I'm not sure what the non-con looks like numbers wise, but conference:
KU 0-2
OSU 0-2
Baylor 1-1
Texas 1-1
WVU 1-1
OU 1-1
ISU 2-0
TTU 2-0
TCU 2-0

Wouldn't be surprised if Baylor sweeps us and we drop one to ISU since we always seem to have troubs with them at the end of the season.
-

Yeah, something like that will probably happen, but then something will likely happen to balance it out. IE beating OSU at home or sweeping OU.
-
6 losses or less in conference play, big 12 is way down.. It is going to be fun watching the oscar haters meltdown.

Whatever it is, it will be the high-water mark of the BW tenure.

Us oscar haters have it pretty easy in that respect. Most have gone on record saying that oscar should do well with Frank's players. If he doesn't do well, it will just make us more correct. Really, team #fybw can't be wrong until year 4.

After they take away all of Mich's wins this season due to (Insert big 10 scandal here, which really means the sky is the limit), therefore negating our loss (obvi) it will be an epic ZERO loss season that propels K-State basketball to the top of men's college basketball.

No need to congratulate us for being right. We'd all rather be wrong, but we're not going to be.

oscar is only 56. He won't retire - he'll go to someplace like College of Charleston when he leaves/gets fired, like he should have this year.

That oscar sucks at being a head coach for high major division 1 basketball.

Still working on my predictions. Too many variables, new and old. Pending further study, and a final prediction, my global guess is...NIT.

it's a blessing and a curse. three years before we can either throw caution to the winds and join the nazi machine or finally throw the torch on weber's pyre. it's a long rough ridin' limbo.
-
Gruds is gonna turn it up a notch. We'll still look really good by year's end:
22-9 (12-6)
PS (It's not December, so this prediction doesn't mean crap.)
-
Confy record 10-8. We will beat teams who we have no business beating, and vice versa.

Yeah #burnitdown is not for the faint of heart.

Drop one confy game, win the Big 12. Finally beat uk home and away.
Fiesta and an Elite Eight in the same year. :combofan:

TCU 2-0
10-8
I think we have a chance to sweep OU, WVU, and UT this year. Won't beat KU, but there is a miniscule chance that we beat OSU at our joint, just because they don't have a lot of size (teams with skilled big men that are 6'8' and above are going to really hurt us this year.) Probably going to drop one to crapty team in the conference. I don't think 12-6 is out of the realm of possibility at all.
-
Drop one confy game, win the Big 12. Finally beat uk home and away.
Fiesta and an Elite Eight in the same year. :combofan:
Win 14 Big XII games, but get inexplicably swept by middling WVU. Lose in the NC game to Florida, fans say oscar can only win with Frank's players. oscar leaves for the VCU opening in the Spring. K-State promotes Chris Lowery.

Do you really think we'll lose to Florida in the NC? We get a first shot at them here soon. crap, even if we lose, we can still claim a NC because we split the series... right?

Based on my own bracketology, kstate uf is the only logical nc game. Fwiw, I have us losing to uf in a couple weeks. Angel, JHo and RamRod will not have fully bought in by then.

Currie will praise oscar for his hard fought road win against mighty George Washington. Prolly give him an extension.

I bet we go 1-1 with Gonzaga and UF. We play well in the confy, split with KU, OSU. Take both from Baylor and drop a couple that we probably shouldn't, my guesses being WVU and ISU respectively (one at home, one on the road). I'm :combofan: so hard right now. We'll also remember (shortly after Christmas) just what it feels like to be the flagship basketball program in our proud state. The last few years have been incredible. Feel blessed Cats, it's going to be a good season.
-
No way this team splitts w zags and FL.

You heard it here first. Shitty recruiting class will follow. chicken nuggets for everyone.

That would be really, really bad Mr. Barry McCockner. I sure hope that doesn't happen, but if it does I will definitely freak out. So there's that.
-
Now that we are about 25% thru the season, it is prob safe to make some predictos. 10-3 in noncon, losing to Mich, Gonz and Fla. 8-10 in conf play. Only road win is at TCU. Swept by KU and OSU. Barely make the NIT.
-
the early part of the schedule does not set up favorably.
I am afraid we won't have much positive momentum after going 0-2 vs Gonzaga and UF and we have our two best opportunities to get signature wins in January with OSU and KU at home. It is not ideal with any new coach regardless of that coach's favorite dairy dessert.

This team before Florida and this this team after Florida are very different. It was around that time that we started playing Shane at the 4 and really turned the season around. These predictions don't really surprise me, because this team evolved radically just after this thread was made.

I think this experience should serve as a lesson to us all. Tuck it in and trust in ADJC. Enjoy the ride and avoid premature meltdowns (much like drugs, the initial high is great, but soon the entire board devolves into a #teamburnitdown $h1tstorm).
*although I wouldn't mind not hearing another one of oscar's senior day speeches, for that reason alone I'm still squarely on the fence

:sdeek:

Meltdowns, premature or otherwise, are a lot of fun and part of what makes this board different.
-
That's what made this season so fun. Right before or right afte the Gonzaga game, very very few could have thought we would be this good and in this position with one conf game left
That great 2010 team went 24-5 in reg season. Awesome how this team has the chance to be 26-5 after Saturday

I think most of the pessimistic picks were made after we were well into a very "meh" nonconference performance. I was certainly much more optimistic in October than I was by the end of November. oscar has done a nice job turning things around and getting the kids to buy into his system, though.

The win at GW was the low point for me. Even though we won we looked hapless against a clearly sorry GW squad, and oscar's excuse about the rowdy crowd of 4000 was too much to take.

Yes. The losses to Michigan and Gonzaga really did nothing for me. And if I remember, everyone melted down after the Gonzaga loss. But we looked so much worse against GW, and we looked like we didn't care. And then to go from Frank who wouldn't even make excuses when Pullen and Kelly didn't play, to a guy who said we played poorly because of a rowdy 4000 person crowd was just too much for me to take.

Up until the Florida win, the whole noncon schedule was pretty miserable. I was convinced we were just getting worse.

I didnt really look at RPIs much early on, but after the Fla win, if i remember right our RPI was still in the 50s. Can u imagine going into the conference with a 10-3 record, no top 100 wins, and a RPI in low 60s or high 50s? Ugg.
I am usually optomistic and i said after the Zags game that we beat Fla and go 12-6. Love how we will eclipse that by at least 2 games.
