Just awful. :flush:
-
I blame oscar for Rodney
-
I blame oscar for this abortion of a game. I also blamed oscar when I stubbed my toe a couple days ago. eff oscar.
-
Can someone fill me in on why everyone hates oscar? Shouldn't we, you know, give him a chance?
-
I blame oscar for Rodney
-
You can go eff yourself if you think you can tell me what I can and cannot blame oscar Weber for.
-
oscar Damnit. instead of God Damnit
-
So yes. Under oscar, McGruder seems softer. But Henriquez seems way less awkward. He almost looks graceful.
-

I give him credit for a glorious win over Delaware.
-

No he has already proven he is a loser.
-

He was fired from Illinois for being bad at coaching basketball.
-
I guess I have not fully bought in
Level of angry at this game about like when we lost in 2007 football finale at Fresno, not boiling, just a preview of most our big games under Cuss tard oscar
-
He held a "I just got crap canned" press conference with his family.
-
How many do we lose by at ku? 50
-
He held a "I just got crap canned" press conference with his family.
Then bought everyone chicken nuggets.
-
I really wish Currie hadn't mumped this up so bad.
-
If oscar keeps this up, he may not get his 7 years to turn it around.
-
No fire.
-
oscar Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) fail with Rodney.
-
Currie's resume is actually pretty awful
-
You guys are being really pessimistic, our basketball team's ONLY issue is that we aren't very good at basketball. Once we get over that hump we will be flooded with wins.
-
It looks like oscar has ruined McGruds. :frown:
Rod's my favorite. Why oscar why?
-
Rodney is awful right now. He isnt shooting worth a darn. He isnt getting those lose ball and rebounds like he is known for.
As a senior leader.... i expect more..... no matter who is coaching the team
He better shake off this crappy start cause we obviously need the MC-GRUD-ER from last year to show up soon
-
Some serious scheming by oscar today. Open both halves with 4 minute scoring droughts, like a fox.
-
It isn't oscar's fault that he was left with a "Best Player" that is worse than Jim Wooldridge era best players.
Cartier > Rodney
Massey > Rodney
Hoskins > Rodney
so far this season
We can blame oscar if Rodney doesn't continue to improve through his Sr. year the way Cartier did under Huggins...if memory serves, he got off to a real shitty start his Sr. year under a new coach too
-
Cartier is pretty much Rodney. oscar/Wooly did not know how to use either
-
Cartier is pretty much Rodney. oscar/Wooly did not know how to use either
They are pretty much the same player...but Cartier finding some NBA success as a journeyman isn't surprising to me...Rodney playing in the league for 1 minute would be a shock to me
-
Angel is better than any Wooly PG and this team is deeper than any Wooly team.
I'm not melting down like most, but I won't give oscar that excuse.

This may be my most unpopular post ever (that's saying something) but at this point angel is overrated as hell. He can't shoot the 3 good enough to justify the # of shots he takes, he plays a little loose and he isn't able or willing to push the tempo like Denis did back in the day to get the transition buckets to make up for his half court mistakes.

Don't know about Angel being overrated. Yeah, we had approximately zero transition baskets in the last 2 games from Angel pushing it like Denis could. I wouldn't call him electrifying on offense or defense, but he's very capable and he's also only a sophomore.

It's unpopular because its wrong not edgy. First of all he doesn't push the ball because it seems clear that he's been instructed not to. He did it as a true freshman, pretty sure he's didn't forget. Secondly, right now he's our best scoring threat, not sure who he should be deferring to, I'd love for you to tell us. Despite being our best scoring threat he's averaging nearly 5 assists a game.
-

He wears a pirate hat and is emotionally abusive.
I blame Rodney for oscar, I'll figure out the details later.
-
You guys are being really pessimistic, our basketball team's ONLY issue is that we aren't very good at basketball. Once we get over that hump we will be flooded with wins.
-
oscar is the reason his players play bad. Brandon Paul was awful last year. Awful shot selection. Awful passer. It is oscar's coaching and his offense. oscar coaches scared, he wants his kids to play like it is the 1950s. That is why his players can't relax and just play. How he made an NCAa final is beyond me. Those guys must have just learned to tune him out.
Just don't make the mistake of piling on the players. oscar blamed them his entire time at Illinois. He was the reason. He was the only reason.
-
I'm not willing to give up on this team or Rodney, not yet, not even close. I like how Rodney finally turned in on a bit towards the end of the game. Do I believe it's oscar's fault? Partially, but only cause it takes a little time to get used to a new coach and system. However, it isn't oscar's fault that Rodney couldn't hit the board side of a barn early in the game, even on short shots that he made with regularity last season. Really, everyone needs to tone it down, losing isn't acceptable but you might as well get your lumps out of the way early. The important thing is how this teams responds. And that is both on oscar and McGruder. oscar to coach and build the team, and McGruder to become Pullen and demand his team (and himself) to do better.
-
Considering how uppity the entire team seems on twitter, I'm not sure they care about what happened yesterday. Why would they?
-
I just didn't see any "good flashes" from this team yesterday. Nothing that said, "This team has potential."
-
supposedly the word is rodney is not getting this offense at all, struggling more than anyone. its actually heavily designed for him to get shots but he's just not getting it done. perhaps the end of the mich game it clicked more.
-
How many do we lose by at ku? 50
That will be the fault of us bad fans. On the record.
-

If you were at the game, any props. Otherwise did you not hear Dakich railing in JO for not having passed ONCE this season? And then at one point correctly predicting he wouldn't pass whenever he was fed the ball? That very well may be coaching, but either way JO
-

If nobody is in Bram to see it, did they really beat US by 50 or just some team representing our university

I wish Rod would have told Chet that he wouldn't play for oscar.

Rod would've been the hero of EMAW heroes.
-
I hope Illinois wins the NC so that I can have that talking point.
Mr. Bread, what are my chances here? Have not watched a game.
-
I would like to apologize to everyone for starting this thread. I am not very smart sometimes. Still friends?
-
why is everyone under the impression that Rod is an amazing basketball player? he's never been dominant at any level, not even back in high school.

what were you watching during conference play last year? When he was healthy Rod was great

i was watching the same team you were. he can perform really well, but he's never sustained it for long periods of time (a full season). Rod's not "the guy". never has been. and great? no, he's never been great. Beasley was great. Pullen was great. Rodney is OK. you can delude yourself into thinking that oscar ruined Rodney but the fact is that Rodney was never a great commodity to begin with.

Who thought Rodney was Beasley or Pullen? God rough ridin' damn guy, what a horrifically stupid strawman-y talking point. Start over and try again.

Umm, how about you go back and look at bolded part. i brought up Beasley and Pullen because he obviously needed to be reminded of what greatness at the college level (specifically in the context of recent KSU basketball) looks like. what did i say that was wrong? Newsflash: Rodney isn't great and you shouldn't expect him to be.

Could it be that skipper has a definition of "great" than you. Most people reading that would take Skipper meaning "great" in a general sense, you took that as a chance to compare Rodney to two of the greatest KSU basketball ever. I don't think anyone who has ever watched basketball is trying to compare Rodney to Jacob to Mike. You really told everyone though, grats.
-
Rod, when healthy is an all-B12 caliber player, first team not second team, I would consider that pretty great. No need to compare him to GOAT type guys. Even still, he is probably one of the top 10 basketball players we have had in the last 25 years or so.

He was unanimous first team all conference and he's very capable of playing that way because he's done it.
-
I'm sorry that I recognize Rodney for what he truly is - a decent basketball player. I hope that everyone can forgive me while I don't meltdown that he isn't leading us to dominating victories over A10 squads and also while I refuse to blame the head coach for him having a subpar night.

That was pre-season, but yeah he is a really good player. Def. capable of earning first team this season. His 3 point shooting come around and he will be as great as ever.
His FTR is concerning, but it has been his whole career. I think we've talked about it before and everyone kind of came to the conclusion that while he does slash and drive he does so in a controlled manner aimed at making a field goal as opposed to looking for contact and trying to get fouled like Jamar or someone.

What's frustrating about that is that he's explosive, or he used to be anyway. His game is 100% predicated on jump shooting, he may as well be 5'11" with a 25 inch vertical.

this has almost nothing to do with talent. Rodney has crap tons of basketball talent but he lacks an indomitable will to win. oscar can't help him here.
-
he's not a high ftr player. never will be and shouldn't try to be. his shot is that little one handed pull up thing. he's strong enough to shoot it and it goes in a lot. no reason to change.

LOL, I completely disagree. Rod is not a rah rah guy, he doesn't show much emotion. I can assure you, his will to win is fine.

Brandon Paul looks like a completely different player. Last year he looked like a jump shooting chucker when I saw Illinois. He looks like a complete player now.

The Heisman may admit froshes now, but the P66 still has loftier standards.
