if we lose @texas, and win out (OU @home is the biggie)...
WE COULD PLAY FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
-
9 chances to see #LIFE without having to leave the state :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:

IMO, the league will be between OSU, TCU, and UT. We have a nice schedule, should be able to get to 7 wins. Defense and WR’s will be our issue. Might look like '09, sans everyone hating the QB.

For a team that will run the ball ever more next year, our 1-2 WR punch is actually pretty good.

I'm concerned about the whole defense next year.
-
I like that we have a bye between our only back to back (and biggest) road games

It’s the whole defense, though the DL is the worst of the bunch.
DB: Chapman, Malone, Milo
DL: Davis, Meshak, Lutui, Sua, Boyd
LB: Brown, Childs
I mean, I don’t even.

guess we ditched the UCF game huh

OK. Here goes (I can’t believe I’m doing this, so don’t tell anyone):
DB: we return Zims and Evans. Barnett struggled, however he’s going to get some good PT and beat out Fergie (who’s a senior). Kip Daily has gotten some experience in as well.
DL: Britz has been a nice surprise. Mueller will be back. Akinola, Reed, and Hollingshed will make an impact next year. As will Demonte Hood. Toss in Xavier Gates and we might have a nice DL that just needs some puds in the OOC to get some experience under their belts.
LB: Tre will be back. Slaughter redshirted, and Snyds has raved (in a Snyds way) about Mike Moore.
Overall – I mean, who was Jared Milo before this year? Snyds should have worked for a diamond company. We’ll also probably get some impact juco players. Baylor, ISU, KU, OU, WVU, and TT will all have new QB’s next year.
That’s all I got.
-
We'll see what kind of tasty defense Hayes can fry up.
-
It really could be one of the pud-iest years for Big XII quarterbacks. Who will be the best returning starter? That addict at TCU? The Ok St kid who gets injured all the time? Which ever Texas quarterback they decide to start? Woofy woof woof.
-

OU will try to Kleindozer everyone.

I don't think he beat out Fergie, I think Fergie was hurt too. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think I saw Fergie the entire Baylor game. Hard time believing the senior who replaced Zimmerman in the TCU game doesn't play at all the next week behind a freshman unless he's hurt.

Are we going to have the best Big 12 QB for the second year in a row?

7-9 wins seems to be the most realistic, unless our defense is a lot worse than average.

The bio doesn't mean anything, Daniel Thomas and Carson Coffman's are still up too. The sideline thing is interesting though.

In all fairness, when don't we say that, though?
-
The future of our defense: there was a reason none of these guys were redshirted (Talent, leadership and necessity for 2013) they will all start.
Barnett (played well for the situations, showed a lot of ability)
Burns
Moore
Britz
Believe the future is bright, Bill hasn't had chance to get 4 year players on defense except Tre and Zimmerman, building depth should become enhancing easier on D.
-
Need Tre and Zim back at 100%. Offense should score points and burn clock. We will turn it over more though.
-
Anybody else notice how bad oSu took it to Iowa State this year? Baylor you've been warned. :chainsaw:

Fox is trying to spend the money to get good content. They also already have content they can put on it that NBC and CBS can't put on their channel. All those games on FSN and F/X can be put there. They probably won't put a small dent in ESPN, but it will be much better than the NBC and CBS sports channels.
Oh yeah, 2018 World Cup with Gus. All the games they put on ESPN now will be on this channel.
-
Yea, Fox has access to better sports to show. More college basketball/football and NFL stuff. Could probably do a lot more with baseball and soccer though soccer could be cannibalizing their soccer channel.

From Currie's email:
"First, it has been our strong preference to play our season-opening game in the evening to avoid the daytime heat. However, there is significant TV interest in this matchup against North Dakota State, two-time defending FCS national champion and owner of victories over KU, Minnesota and Colorado State in the past three seasons."
Never miss an opportunity.

neat.

Rather have the game on Saturday but it won't matter for me to watch it as I will be there in person. But for the viewing audience I  that it's Gus Johnson with the call

Really torn on this.

The Big 12 schedule will have further date/time changes, but as of now this is the only change to ours.
As noted in the letter from ADJC, "The Big 12 Conference television contracts require that we provide our partners with four Thursday night games"

this is like a billion times better than any other imaginable option for that dogshit opening game. Good grief, people.
-
It's going to take quite a bit of time for me to muster up the courage to ask my boss if I can leave work hours early so I can go drink a thousand beers in a field for five hours before kickoff.
At least I've got a couple months to warm her up to the idea...

-

Why would the students be bitches about this? I can't think of a better way to start the semester. That's going to be a very fun day on campus.
-
i know guys! Everyone high five!
-
I remember the Nebraska game as a student. Got done with class and just walked over to the tailgates. Smart ones packed beers in their backpacks for the walk over. Dumb ones bummed brews off the smart ones.
All in all, what better way to get through a school day than by knowing that in a few short hours your going to be goin all :emawkid: with 50,000+ of your closest friends and family. And then you get to sleep in the next day and dont have to worry about feeling bad for missing church because you're too hungover from celebrating the win (unless you go on Saturdays?).
Suck it up students. Campus is dead Friday afternoon anyways.
Now us working people here have every right to be pissed for having to take one of our hard earned days off work to make it to the game.

Love it!
I just hope that if it's on this fancy new network, that whatever bar I am at will carry the game if I am out of town for labour day weekend.
-
friday night games are great. so are thursday night games. why wouldn't you want to be the only game on national tv?
really gives you guys a chance to drink twice as much, because you have an extra day to recover. lemons --> lemonade, guys
-
Also guys the dove opener is Sunday that year, so like you could not be so hungover and have to make yourself get up even though you don't want to.

I am going to get so unbelievably pak'd for that game I won't be able to tell you guys my first name
-
I guess it's good after reading up on it and taking a step back. I didn't like it at first do to tradition and birthday weekend reasons, but I guess I will take.

How do we know that this Friday night game will even be on TV?

really gives you guys a chance to drink twice as much, because you have an extra day to recover. lemons --> lemonade, guys
I bet ESPN moves a huge opening weekend game to Friday to try to compete with K-State's Fox Sports 1 Network.
Will bet anyone $100 bucks this happens. Nobody will watch our game.
It wasn't going to be a huge draw either way.

It was going to have some novelty because it would be a new network.

I don't even know who we are playing and I'm pretty damn proud of that. Probably won't look it up either so don't tell me.

Here's a clue:
owner of victories over KU, Minnesota and Colorado State in the past three seasons.
-
I wonder if FS1 as a station is going to be any good
-
When was the last time you watched a major conference team play a friday night game that wasn't the cotton bowl?
like every opening weekend for years
-
Didn't Prince steal a recruit away from NDSU? Who was it? MAYBE HE IS STILL ON THE TEAM!

If not, we can always hold out hope for FS2

Yeah, so like, I'll remember that for a few days and then I'll forget it because they are probably pud and we are the Big 12 champs.

They are 2 time defending FCS national champions, and it will be very amusing to see the look on their pathetic FCS faces when we score a touchdown to take a 50 point lead on national tv.

Time to schedule a half day for Aug 31
Might as well make it a full day. Have a great four day weekend. :kstategrad:
-
Ugh...family reunion was probably the only home game i could have made it to next year.
not anymore. guess k-state doesn't really care about its out-of-state family. but hey, at least i can watch it on FSN FS1!
-
I am so in guys!!! No junior football to conflict on Fridays!! :excited: :excited: :excited:
Also I don't work on Fridays either!!! :excited:
-
Praise the Lord! Streaming Kstate HD at LOTO on the same tower as all the other :kstategrad: had become the low point of the holiday weekend

pretty out of line if they did. pretty out of line. thinking about shooting JC a harshly worded email. any game but the family reunion and this would have been acceptable.
out of line.
-
Also, will some one explain to me the significant difference between FS1 and FSN? Is it just a rebrand with HD and Regis?
-
Hey Dlew, just heard the news that you won't be able to make it to the family reunion.
Sorry to hear that, friend. Maybe the dominoes will fall into place and you'll be able to make another game.
:D
-
Also, will some one explain to me the significant difference between FS1 and FSN? Is it just a rebrand with HD and Regis?
I would guess all the FX games and couple of the better FSN games will now be on FS1 and only true tier 3 games will be on the FSNs as KSU, OU, OSU, TT and Baylor have all signed tier 3 deals with Fox.
-
Also, will some one explain to me the significant difference between FS1 and FSN? Is it just a rebrand with HD and Regis?
FS1 will be like ESPN. No regional womans trash games. Only big boys stuff.

Ya the way I see it is it is "tier 2" sports contracts owned by Fox will be on FS1 and they will roll out a SportsCenter alternative along with other 24/7 news style TV programming all in HD.

We're going to be on this channel so much guys! Fox Sports 1 will be KStateHD.tv 2

You guys, Sams' first start!!!
This made my day!
Not worth getting excited about. :bill: will make sure that any game against a 1AA team features an incredibly boring and vanilla game plan. We'll see the same five plays on offense and Sams won't be allowed to do anything really fun.
-
Yeah, Waters will start, but thanks for playing.

shut up fanning.

It won't matter. It doesn't get any more vanilla than the snaps Sams took against Missouri State, and they could do absolutely nothing to stop him. I don't expect NDSU to get better results.

Well, yeah, we are playing an FCS school. The point is that you get to sit back and watch the Cats in crystal clear HD on a nationally televised broadcast when the alternative would be paying to watch a grainy feed on K-State HD.
-
I bet playing college football games on Friday nights is going to quickly become "the cool thing to do." Because the Cats are doing it.

I hate friday games, you guys!!! :chainsaw: I'm pissed about this change, but I'm  to find out that young alum season tickets start at $200. I'm an elite Ahearn Donor already, though...so I'm going for the good seats. So excited for this season, guys! :excited:
PS, I don't know who will start that game (yet), but, if it's #life, I bet Bill ties a rope connecting him to finney so he doesn't run. I say let the kid do whatever he wants so he can start his first of 3 heisman campaigns on the new ESPN, FS1. :ksu: :emawkid: :lynchmob:

I've just accepted it. We don't deserve it. But I want him on the field.

Surely you asked these players why, right?

that Waters dude must be pretty good
-
Surely you asked these players why, right?
"Sams is Playing himself out of it in 7v7. Work out monster but has not looked at the receiver progression playbook since the bowl prep"-WR on KSPCU FB Team
"Jake is the better QB. He is killing it on 7v7. Daniel is not looking the best"-LB on KSPCU FB Team
-
:(
What about all these Sams songs that may or may not be coming down the pipe?
-
Dammit, guys. I sit near someone from Slidell during football season, not anyone from Iowa.
Also, something something 2013 cats schedule.
-
If football were a 7 on 7 drill, I would agree that Waters very well could be a better QB than Sams.

A 7 on 7 drill is just a pure passing drill. There really is no threat to run the ball, which takes away the enormous advantage that having Sams on the field instead of Waters presents. Receiver progression is not as important when you are a threat to take it to the house on any passing play. If the safeties have to respect the run, they are easier to beat over the top.

To be fair, we don't really know what Waters' running ability is like. Definitely not as good as Sams, but as long as he is more mobile than Peyton Manning I don't think the difference in how they run will be that much of a factor in determining a starter.

you know who never gave a eff about receiver progression charts? Michael Bishop
-
I really don't care who the QB is next year, but I'm pretty certain that players don't know what the eff they're talking about.

this is as much of a goEMAW.com post as i've read on this internet bbs. it could also be a model gpc post, if gpc was as in love with sams as many of our posters are.
-
Bill is probably trolling the crap out of all of us. He has even schemed his own players into thinking Sams isn't amazing at QB.
:bill:
-

Yeah. I'm sure Waters would made Bishop look silly in a 7 on 7 passing drill.
-
Both are great QBs.
ISWT
-
7 on 7 is pretty pud
-
you know who never gave a eff about receiver progression charts? Michael Bishop
He never 2nd guessed himself on passing. You know what happens then? Touchdowns happen, that's what.
-
Lots of guys can be 7 on 7 heros and not be able to play, so take all of that with a grain of salt.
The key for Sams will be development/ability to hit intermediate and deep throws in addition to what we already know he can do running the football. The key for Waters will be as a legitimate threat running the ball, and that is if the winter ball 7 on 7 tales are indeed true.
Either way, we all need to wait until they both get the pads on and get to really compete in spring practice.
-
Over Under 4.5 Friday Night Lights mentions during the broadcast?
-
To be honest, I'm far more worried about losing Arthur and our stud Dline than Colin.
-
This just in Waters is a great intramural flag football QB. August is a long ways away. Oh, and the ksu cats wear pads and play 11 vs. 11 tackle football in the big12.
-
the thing is, the offensive staff doesn't exactly have a track record of completely changing the offense even when the qb isn't that mobile. which is why i think sams is still in good shape.
-
The Friday move happened, in part, to inconvenience the Chiefs less than a Saturday game.

Same here. The defense is really going to miss Arthur and his speed next year. I'm confident that the offense will still be good next year, but the defense will regress to 2010 quality.

I didn't realize until a couple weeks after he signed with us that he was listed as a dual threat. Very exciting.

I'm sure Waters can move, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a QB with the kind of burst Sams has coming out of the pocket. I will be absolutely shocked if he is a better runner than Sams.

I don't think a single person has suggested that Sams is or will be a better runner than #life. :dunno:
My outlook is he might be a better all-around QB. If anything, I'm saying he won't lose the job because he lacks mobility.
