How has Soren Petro's "oscar Weber is a GREAT X and Os coach" slid by this long with no one pulling him aside and correcting him?

i don't know if i disagree with soren.

i don't think the issue with bW's is that he can't x and o, i think the issue is that a lot of people hate the x's and O's that bw's has chosen.

ksudeuce: I'll take X's and O's for 1000 Alex.
Alex Trebec: This coach is the best basketball schemer in America.
*Buzzes In*
ksudeuce: Who is oscar Weber?
Alex Trebec: That is correct.

Webers best asset is long term player development, you can see this in his players improvement in offensive ratings. He is not very good at getting his players to play right way, this is not helped because he hasn't all ways got the right players(recruiting). He is one of the best defensive coaches in the world. But like most coaches he gets criticized for his offensive X and Os, this is complete bullshit. Offensive is more about Jimmy and Johns than it is about some beautiful system.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the norm for all college players is to improve their offensive ratings over the course of their college careers.  Not exactly oscar-specific.  That's like giving him credit for saving their lives because they didn't stop breathing or forget to eat under his watch.  I do like that oscar excels at long term player development except for when he didn't.  Just got a bad batch of Jimmie Joes is all.  I think defense has a great deal to do with Jim 'n Joes as well.  If you have a bunch of slow-footed derps out there, I don't care where you rank in the world defensive coach rankings, they won't get it done.

A lot of coaches struggle on improving players after their sophomore year, oscar's problem is a lot of his players started of way to crappy to be effective in high level basketball.
