Title: Suburban Dallas / TCU trip reports.
Post by: wabash909 on November 11, 2012, 03:36:41 PM
Man, can't wait to read them because I'm sure there are some amazing stories to be told!

Wish I could have been one of the 20,000 strong Cats fans that invaded the Alamo, but this will be the next best thing.

Threw  :lynchmob: many times in the stands.  Our crowd sounded great...we were very loud.  Can't imagine how intimidating that would be to TCU fans.  Met a fellow goEMAW'er wearing a #LIFE shirt.

Went to Pete's Piano Bar on Friday night.  Cat fans got in for free if they wore kstate stuff.  The bar was packed with purple.  Fight song was played at least every 10 minutes.  Pretty Great.

awesome.  I'll assume you went there entirely based on my story about being allowed in to drink more while blackout drunk.

Was awesome. That stadium is impressive. TCU ppl stomp other fanbases with courtesy. Free food, beer, and tickets. I'll probably go every time we play there. Oh, I also saw Daris.  :excited:

It was unbelievable how nice everyone was.

Had a great time. Hard to tell how many K-Staters were there because not all TCU fans stuck to the "black out" but there was a ton of us.

For a quick rundown..

1. Got incredibly pak'd at Frankies/Baseball Field Parking lot. lots of fun and lots of katz/cultaggie fans
2.Game sucked to watch
3. Prior to halftime in the SRO section, got into a little altercation with some TCU students...Had to be restrained by my ladyfriend before i took it upon myself to dickwhip the crap out of some overconfident rich kids, and a shoulderpad wearing midget for heckling the kstate fans around us  for having a  "lack of education" and going to a "public school" (to put it kindly)....Had it come to blows, i would most likely be facing some serious assault/manslaughter charges. Luckily for these little crap frogs my ladyfriend called the police over to save them from the worst beating of their lives.....could have been a real massacre seeing as how 8MP was only 1 section over and we were planning on getting even more pak'd at halftime (which we did).
4. Did some pretty elite postgame activities with 8MP, ScarySmart, BigDCat, and Trim in the VIP, EMAW, NUMBER1TEAMINCOUNTRY, room at Frankies

Just another normal weekend for elite emaw fans....

Sparkling new stadium has many nice amenities. The standing room only area on the 1st concourse is pretty cool. They didn't seem to mind me standing there when my seats were level 300.

Those elongated video boards on both sides of the goal posts in the end zone are elite.

TCU and Fort Worth has alot of good looking women. ALOT.

Their sound system is much nicer that BSFS.

TCU stadium > KU memorial running track ...... x3

Good times...

8MP tried to Sandusky me in the restroom, bumped into Bookcat at Frankie's before Trim and his crew showed up to help us close the place down.

There *might be* photographic evidence of a killerfrogs.com poster pre-game pak'ing with Trim and me as well.  Having been to a handful of games over there in the past few years, what they've done in stadium improvements is very impressive.

Walked out of the stadium throwing up  :weirdrobert: .  Never done that before but when it's true, got to do it.

Had a #1 team in the land style hangover this AM.  Finally got over it about middle of Oklahoma.  Rough drive back.

Good times...

8MP tried to Sandusky me in the restroom

:dubious:  I believe what actually happened was that BookiePimp noticed my elite goEMAW.com Kleinsman7 t-shirt (limited edition) and we met in line for the bathrooms in pregame.  Was very pak'd and excited that aTm had just gone up 29-17 moments before.

Saturday night, pak'd in Stillwater with "Miller Lite Buckethead" and another EMAW and made really funny jokes about how we thought we were playing there the next day to all of the OSU and WVU fans who asked why we were there.  Both of those fanbases love our team, by the way.  It was weird how much they like us.

Anyway, the stadium was great.  K-State section was euphoric on announcement of the aTm interception.  Pak'd really hard all day, had a great time at Frankie's pre and post-game.  Saw several goEMAWers, including those MBP mentioned earlier plus rschmidt_md, purplebear4, and finally got to meet SkinnyBenny!  Trim called THE_ED and left a fantastic message.  I don't know why this sports bar had an elite private lounge area, but we turned it into EMAW celebration headquarters.

Good times were had by all involved!

some aspects were very legit. the stadium is pretty damn nice, great dance team. pre-game video/entrance was cool.

the band was as small timey as it gets in d1 football. the half time show was an embarrassment. they showed a music video and then had the dude perform the song directly after. granted it was for a great cause, but it was just weird.

Hung out in the super pud bar district pre-game, a lot of TCU fans were enthusiastically cheering for Alabama, pretty weird. Was wearing my #LIFE shirt, enjoyed explaining it to people. My and my bro snuck in a couple pints of whiskey, made a pretty ugly game more enjoyable. The stadium was very impressive, pretty much seemed brand new.

Minor dust up at the end of the game between TCU fans sitting in front of us (old rich man with 25 year old probable 3rd wife). During a commerical break they introduced some former TCU'ers now in the NFL, I yelled "Suit 'em up and lets make this thing interesting". Guy in front of my went up and got the cops to try and get them to kick me out. He told them I was using profanity through out the game (not at all true). The cop embarrassingly came down and everyone around us (nearly all TCU fans) defended me and told the cops we did nothing wrong. They guy then said we weren't sitting in our own seats (we were) and made us show our tickets. The cop told us to enjoy the game and they guy left with the cops still complaining all the way up the stairs. Said LHC Bill Snyder would be ashamed of us. Pretty astonishing level of butthurt. Left the game and headed to Frankies, made it about 15 minutes before nearly passing out at the bar. Ft. Worth is a pretty weird place but it was a great trip.

Every encounter I had with a TCU fan was great. By the end of the game I started to feel bad that my son was still referring to them as the Mustangs even though I instructed him to do so.

Multiple TCUers came by our tailgate to tell us they were glad to have us. We offered up our ribs to most everyone who came by. I will definitely go everytime KSU plays in Ft Worth.

Just outside the stadium they had a truck selling beer inside a little area (50'x50') roped off with an single entrance/exit.  If you bought beer from the truck, you had to stay inside that area, but they had some tall tables setup so it was nice.  They also had a large screen showing other games just outside that area.  I was standing at a table right next to that entrance/exit watching the Stanford/Oregon St and Bama/A&M games.  Every 15 seconds someone in KSU gear would start to walk out with their beer, some making it 5'-10' out.  Every time a cop would stop them and say "Sorry, but you have to stay inside the area with your beer."  The KSU person would respond "sorry, I didn't know" and walk back in.  Every time this happend the cop would respond "It's OK, no problem.  Welcome to TCU and I hope you enjoy the game."  It was amazing to see their cops treat people with respect.  It was the exact opposite of KSU/RC PD walking around the stadium treating everyone like crap because they are nothing but a giant inconvience.

TCU stadium looks pretty nice. Didn't have many problems during the game, outside a middle aged dude whispering "welcome to Ft. Worth"(lol) in a buddy's ear after Klein's interception. Fans behind us were pretty pissed at Patterson in the 2nd half, claiming he just wanted his alma mater to win. Pretty great.

Fans were creepily nice afterwards as well. Got a wet handshake from an older TCU fan coming out of the bathroom(seriously, wtf) wishing KSU would win the Championship.

Ft. Worth is kinda of weird. enjoyed it overall though. Cab drivers drove like bosses.
Billy Bob's is a joke. Cattlemen's steak was OK. Stockyard's was meh, Frankies was legit, Fox and the Hound was good. Mexican Hooters was entertaining.

Random Weird Robert sighting at a gas station in Norman, OK. Had his foam finger on while driving.

Why "wow"?  I was not in a goEMAW shirt nor a backwards purple hat.  Also, the guy at the top of 226 was doing it like crazy at everyone below him for awhile while I walking up to the crowded gate.  Two different stories.

The parking situation made KU's clustereff seem not so bad. Saw some folks charging $50  :sdeek: to park in their driveway. Laughed at them. Parked 150 feet farther away fo free.

TCU tailgate next to us was grilling a ribeye that lookedl ike a pot roast. Sliced it up and handed it out to anyone within shouting distance. It was delicious. Couldn't say thanks enough. Had a sat-TV set up so we could watch A&M vs. 'Bama. Half and half cheering for Bama and A&M. Kinda strange...but some said they had A&M "allegiances".

TCU's halftime show was insufferable...as was the voice of the young trollop they handed the microphone to at every gametime pause to introduce some sort of award winner. I plugged my ears and huddle with my flask of scotch to drown it out...both figuratively and literally.  The concourse is beautiful and the brickwork is well planned. No stats or scores on any of the digital boards. Only down and distance, time, timeouts. Very lame. When we're done with our renovations..LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium will outclass TCU's dink stadium with no problems.

TCU's team is better than we made them look on both sides including their junk touchdown drive when we didnt' care. TCU's D made us look average but we played incredibly bad and still were never in doubt of losing, even without +1 in the turnover category. Very unlike KSU.

Frankie's before/after the game was a great time....taken over by EMAW as we always do. Beers and scotch go down smoother when you're #1. Some idiot tried to argue that we wouldn't be BCS #1. That was snuffed out in a hurry.....Bartenders seemed irritated at how hard they had to work on what should have been a pud afternoon/evening. The kind of afternoon if TCU had been hosting Texas or TTech lame-os. But we tip.

Don't worry, the combo-fan sign doesn't get you as far as you think it does in real life.   :frown:

At least a few of us were rocking goEMAW custom designed shirts.  I had an old tuck couple ask for a picture of the Kleinsman7 shirt.

I'm still recovering and have suffered some memory loss.

Landed at 7:25, our ride was there.  GCCPAkat insisted on picking up his credit card he'd left at the DFW seafood restaurant first and then couldn't resist ordering a dozen oysters that we ate with the airport pickup guy waiting outside the gates.  Went to some BBQ version of hooters to pick up tickets from some random and then stuck around the airport until 8:30 to get a guy flying in from KC.  His flight got delayed so off to Ft. Worth.

Checked in the Renaissance and walked down to Del Frisco's.  Pretty nice.  I had the Wagyu “longbone."  Finished up there and noticed all the downtown bars were pretty kstateo'd already so we got a cab to 7th street and went to a place that had a 2nd floor "rooftop" bar and got pak'd there.  Then after-hours stuff, bed by 5.

Saturday got going late, found Frankie's filled, found a Mexican hooters with TVs and tables by an open garage window thing that we could set the goEMAW flag up at so did that.  Service sucked so I ordered those 100oz beer towers for myself.  Got pak'd.

4:30-ish had a cab take us to the stadium.  Further than I thought.  Somehow came to a conclusion that drinking anywhere in public was fine so got as many 12-packs as we could carry at a liquor store halfway there.  Got dropped off and wandered around slamming beers.  Got in every TCU face I could find.  Can't remember it all.  Eventually found bookie pimp and american standard, nice setup.  Went to the gates, GCCPAkat had lost hist ticket and just kind of walked in.  Seats were in the middle of TCU fans.  Some got us, some didn't.  A really fat lady was getting mad at me and I winked at her.  "DON'T YOU rough ridin' WINK AT ME [redacted]!"  As you know, KSU dominated and I told the whole world about it.  Went out at halftime and talked to a TCU'r from Kansas.  She was trying to be gracious and I couldn't help PI her.  Around halftime and thereafter, her and all TCU'rs kind of resigned themselves to what I was doing and that they had to take it and just sort of appreciated it, like it was nice to finally have an elite team's bad person there kicking their asses.  Even the anti-winker and I exchanged blown kisses.

Game ended, I was an impatient mess, ditched the guys and found my own cab that took forever.  Caught up with everyone and went to Frankie's.  That's pretty well been recapped.  Some TCU version of a FTRILEYO was hitting on a girl at our table via showing her iphone pics of his truck, and I had a good time with that.  They let us stay in and drink all the way til 2, maybe later.  Went outside and somehow it was announced to some loiterers I was Trim and they all needed pics taken with me.  Walked back to the hotel and I was superpak'd jumping on stuff.  At some point I was walking forward but looking behind me and I heard a gong and felt something hard and learned I'd walked right into a street sign.  Didn't hurt at the time.  Has hurt since.  That flight home sucked.  Good times.

Was awesome. That stadium is impressive. TCU ppl stomp other fanbases with courtesy. Free food, beer, and tickets. I'll probably go every time we play there. Oh, I also saw Daris.  :excited:
Are you going this year?

I'm on the _fence with it, but I have a bunch of college friends down there and so does Mrs. wacky, so we definitely want to.  We're friends with a TCU admissions rep down there from Atchison and she sets us up with a A+ TexMex tailgate. It's fantastic!

You inspired me to call Mrs. Wacky this morning to book this. Thank you! We'll let you know where  all the free treats and washers are when we get there.  This will be my 4th trip down there. Cottown bowl and two TCU games. There's a bar that sells out for K-State alumni every time, because he says it's his highest grossing weekend for him.

Agree on the TCU fans. I went in 2014 and ended up trading my "Power Towel" for 6 beers from some TCU students, they were so happy to have a piece of KSU lore.

Had plans cancelled last minute, looked online and found $4 tickets just before kickoff. Zoomed over and made it in time for second quarter. Watched the Cats crush it. Came home and spent the rest of the day downing some brews and watching football on tv. Pretty good little Saturday.
