Title: Hypothetical
Post by: Trim on November 05, 2012, 08:12:28 AM
So you're in an elimination pool that "kissplams" has already been eliminated from.  It comes down to needing to pick 1 victory each out of both Tech and Texas.  Options are effectively this week and in 3 weeks.

This week:

Texas hosts ISU.
Tech hosts KU.

In 3 weeks:

Texas hosts TCU.
Tech hosts Baylor.

Thoughts?  Ed?

tough call. I'd go with Texas this week and Tech the next.

That's where I'm leaning.  Plus, everyone left will be picking Tech this week (they all got rid of Texas against ku when I tried to shake things up).

Tech, then Texas is the correct answer.

NO WAY that the flaw wins in Lubbock.

Then, UT gets two weeks to prep for a TCU team that is already depleted coming off two total beatdowns from K-State and OU.

Actually, TCU doesn't play OU til after Texas.  However, I'd still play it this way...

TBH, I don't think you're likely to lose either way based on games left.

The variable, as I see it, is that ISU is the best remaining opponent.  But, like I said, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

ISU's better than TCU?  That would make it easy, but I didn't think that was accurate.  :dunno:

ISU has a penchant for winning at inopportune times

I think all of them are safe bets. ISU without Knott is not going to win in Austin, but they may have a slightly better shot than TCU.

The other thing is that Tech is obviously the safer bet this week. TCU-UT game, everyone else will be eliminated anyway.

my analysis from safest to least safe bet:

Tech hosts KU - lol, pud
Texas hosts ISU - pretty pud, ISU has been fading as the season has gone on, TX has been playing better
Texas hosts TCU - sort of pud, TX has been coming on as the season has gone on. TCU is pretty pud.
Tech hosts Baylor - Tech fading, Baylor fading, both pretty pud. it's gonna come down to who wants to be less pud the most.

Tech may have began their late season slide

TCU is VERY young and Texas will focus more on making sure they don't lose to an in-state opponent, whereas ISU sometimes sneaks up on teams.
