Title: Chapman
Post by: stunted on November 04, 2012, 12:35:56 AM
Deserves own thread. Loved when he was still fighting for the ball and Musberger (2nd best announcer of all time) was all "Chapman really wants the ball"  :ksu:

3 INTs in one game. That has to at least tie K-State's most INTs in a game.

Chris Canty had 3 INTs back in 1995 game.

The 3 ints and one pick 6 were immense, don't get me wrong, probably lose without him. But he also got beat several times

bad game for Zim........got sucked up on play action and over the top she came...........safeties should really not get fooled when they have deep responsiblities

 :dubious:

Part of this is scheme. We rely on our safeties so much for run support it's going to happen. Shouldn't have been biting on that up 21 in the second half as much though.

Also we combo coverages and sometimes our safeties aren't the deep players. We appeared to have multiple coverage mistakes, I'm sure some was the safeties, but all of our defensive backs seemed to be guilty.

the secondary was both great and absolutely miserable tonight.  Last night was the first time last year's defense showed itself.  Baylor will do the same thing, let's hope their 3rd string QB isn't that good.

So frustrating since the defense did a great job of limiting Randle and the run game IMO.

how crazy is it that milo and chapman NARROWLY missed additional interception opportunities? wonder what the game would have looked like had they gotten those other two.

The score did a better job of limiting Randle than anything, and that's what made the passing defense so frustrating in the fourth quarter. We still had guys biting on the run fakes when it was obvious OSU wasn't going to run the ball.

Really thought Chapman would be more of a liability this season, he has been a pleasant surprise.

And Musburger was just awful last night. Get those old bastards out of the booth. Need more Gus.

Chapman sucked last year. Chapman is better than Nigel this year.

I think Hayes does more with coverages than Cosh ever did, and I think last night OSU ran some schemes to confuse those coverages much more than us biting on run action. And I won't undersell stopping the run and Randle, that was very commendable.

I think a lot of the 3rd and 4th quarters was that our defensive guys relaxed with the lead and OSU's third guy and in turn lost the emotion we usually play with. That's going to lead to the type of mistakes we made. It was very atypical for what we expect from this team and I guarantee they will hear about it this week.

Nigel is still better than Chapman.  He doesn't get the ball thrown his way as much to pick because his WR isn't open

Been a few steps behind the receivers a lot this year  :dunno:

I agree _Fan, but you have to admit Randle was limited by OSU being down 2 touchdowns for the entire second half. He had the fewest carries since OSU's opening blowout of Savannah St.

That also forced OSU to become as one dimensional as they were in the blowout loss to Arizona when they threw 60 and ran 32 compared to 47-24 against us.

Holding Randle to 2.9 ypc is an achievement, but I'm not sure that happens if OSU is only down 10 entering the fourth with Klein obviously out of the game, I'm not sure Gundy hits the panic button like he did down 17.

Chapman has been beat a lot more.  Chapman got beat badly a number of times in this game, not that he didn't make up.

I thought the same thing.  We ran the patented Chris Cosh Cover Nobody defense more than once.  Their first TD brought back memories of Blackmon vs Hartman.
