when kstate lines up with like 2 or 3 receivers on one side, and tech only lines up with 1 or 2 defenders against those receivers (the defender for the other receiver is like 10 meters down field), why doesn't kstate just say hike and immediately throw it to the undefended receiver?

yards, whatever.  answer the question if you know the answer, otherwise step aside.

My take:

When you throw the ball out there wide, the safety has time to close some of that gap.  For the play to be successful, both WRs have to succeed in their blocks and we have to beat the safety (not impossible, KU did it to us their first 2 drives).  My concern is if you're under center and end up throwing it backwards, it could be a fumble thats just lying out there to be scooped.

I just think its high risk-low reward.  Usually you get 4-6 yards maybe.  If you screw it up, its incomplete or a fumble.  If its incomplete, the clock stops.  Running can get you 4-6, low risk, and the clock runs.

i can see that it might be tricky when it is 3 on 2, but when it is 2 on 1, it seems like the other receiver would just have to get in the defender's way a little bit and the other one would be in the clear.

it seems like it'd be a forward pass unless you did something weird first.

We usually run out of shotgun/pistol so I would imagine it would be safely forward, but you never know.  I think it is more the time off the clock.  I believe the guides Snyder a lot the past two years and he has confidence in the run game getting the same 4-6

Most defenses are sound enough to defend 2 receivers with 2 defenders. Plus, they could disguise the coverage and get a 3rd defender out quickly, etc.

but they had 1 defender for 2 receivers (with the other 10 yards away).

Most defensive backs can close 10 yards pretty quick. Show me a clip example when the YouTube is posted and I'll break it down.

there was one in the second half the play before one of the touchdowns.  i think a running back scored the td.  the drive prior there was also a situ. the play before a td (klein run i'm pretty sure).  but that one was 3 receivers and 2 defenders.

I'll look at it. It's a good question.

Still want to know what's with "meters".

i mostly think of medium range horizontal distances in metric units.  short range depends on the subject matter, long range in english units.  vertical in english.  dunno why, the mind is a strange thing.
