Title: A poster on GoPowercat.com that deserves our support
Post by: Pete on October 25, 2012, 11:07:57 PM
Unlike Tim Fitzgerald et al.'s calloused indifference to the fatty cause, we give a eff when it isn't "ours" as well....

to all wabashers.  i don't want to get all "oldefella" on you just to butter you up, but it is a great time to be a wildcat fan.  the season has taken me by storm as well.  maybe i thought i could catch you while you spirits are high. :)

some of you may remember the story of my youngest daughter, lucy, and her battle with brain cancer.  hard to believe, but it will be two years this nov 20th since we lost her.  everyone, especially my fellow cat fans, were very gracious and generous throughout her treatment and beyond.  for that i, once again, thank you.

this post is for more.  saturday, dec 8th, i am participating in the "ultimate hike" in rogers, arkansas.  its a one day, 22 mile hike in the ozark mountains.  all donations and proceeds go to curesearch, a non-for-profit organization that funds research for pediatric cancer.

please visit my page.  donate, if you can.  if you can't, please be so kind as to pass on the link to others.

i'm always uncomfortable asking people, especially friends, for things like this, but i wouldn't do it if i didn't believe in it.  i hope some day these funds will save the life of your child, your child's child, or any young person you know.  as i know all too well, life is precious and can't take it for granted.

thanks for your support.

I cannot imagine what life would be like without any of my three precious children. I am sick for his loss and pray for his family.

Sounds like a great cause.

Things can be so unfair sometimes.

It's been over a week or so now that this has been un-pinned at GPC.  We'll un-pin it from goEMAW now.  Just wanted to make sure that it received as much exposure as it could.

I hope for the best for this k-stater and his family and friends.

I was curious how the  un-pinning would go. Well done, Pete!

Keep it pinned for awhile...  Not all of us spend everyday on here.

T's & P's to the family

It's no problem to keep it pinned...just a minor inconvenience on thread real estate.

We've had so many posters voice support for this cause, that we'll leave it pinned.  Fans (posters) drive the process at goEMAW....

Glad you un-pinned briefly, however...  I've developed a bit of "banner blindness" regarding pinned threads.  Un-pinning randomly for an hour or two may be your best bet ultimately.

Guys,

Weibart emailed me & asked that I relay it here...

Quote
Greetings fellow Cats.  Last fall I made a request on gpc for donations.  The donations were for a 22 mile hike I was to endure for pediatric cancer research.  A little over two years ago, I lost my youngest daughter, Lucy, to complications with a brain tumor.  Since then, I have done what I could, and will continue, to help raise money and awareness for research to stop this disease that takes our children away from us.

When Lucy was going through her brain surgery, and subsequent chemo treatments, my family was overwhelmed with support from our families, friends, and those that have always come through: K-Staters.  When you see that name on the old and the new press box, LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium, the word family has so much meaning to it.  I do believe that all those that sent a dollar, a kind word, a prayer, or just a thought our way showed the support that only a real family could.

It didn't take long, after I posted about the hike, that gpc'ers began to contribute.  There were some with gpc accounts and goEMAW accounts, that caught wind of my post.  I, again, was overwhelmed.  My fundraising goal was $2500.  With all of your help, it was doubled.

Whether its about adjc, oscar weber, fitz, joe bob, or whomever, our passion is strong, but that isn't our best characteristic and quality.  It's family.  And I want to give this board and its members an overdue thank you.

Play nice and see you in Manhattan.

Thank you, from your K-State brother,

Weibart

I am very proud of goEMAW's posters.

Confirmed, we are 50x better than most of GPC's posters.
