TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Football => Topic started by: Dugout DickStone on October 23, 2012, 07:11:53 PM

Now that we are (back) at the top of the heap in college football, I think it is time to bring the Rules home where they belong - Manhattan, Kansas.
My questions is, should it be an athletic department led endeavor or should the individual alumni, who have the money, make this happen? I know most of us have discussed this off the board but with KSU taking it's rightful place as the bluest of the blue bloods in the sport, it's time to solidify the plan. So, let's post some thoughts here with the plan that they provoke some movement.

I pretty much agree Stoney . . . any true student of the game knows that real American Football was in fact invented in Manhattan, KS at Kansas State Agricultural College on or about November 4th, 1868 a full year before the so called "first" American Football Game, which was really just a slightly altered version of "Mob Football" styled like Rugby.

Isn't that why we're building the west side stadium expansion? A castle to house the treasures of the king of college football.
-
I think we should just write our governor, Sam Brownback. This kind of endeavor really benefits the entire state, so it only makes sense that taxpayer money be used.
-
Do we have any annoying, scrawny guys with a high sense of self worth to make a documentary about the bidding process? K-State grads tend to be handsome, well-built, yet humble men.
-
Seems like Brownie needs to appeal to the Koch boys to right this wrong.
-
To any opponents of the rules being in Manhattan KS: where would the game be if Snyder hadn't invented the forward pass? Checkmate.

Most people already know this, but I was just doing some casual reading today and found out that Legendary AD/ HC Mike Ahearn was on the National Football Rules Committee in 1920- the only one west of the Mississippi river.
