"It's about winning the national championship -- that's the goal," said Wildcats receiver Chris Harper. "You've got to take baby steps. We're going out there trying to win every game and win the national championship."

maybe I should too. I'm afraid too though.

I went to St. Louis 14 years ago and cried. I don't think I can mentally go through that again...but I'm willing to try if Harper is. I'm with you Chris. I trust you guys.

I had tickets to st. louis but watched it with my bros in manhattan because we were all to hungover to drive to the game and decided to save our money for the mnc.  I was sick for weeks.  going through that should've mentally prepared you for this.  you just enjoy it and believe in it and hope they keep winning...and know that it might not work out.

I wasn't able to make it to st. louis but remember watching it at our house on manhattan ave and going out to the ville afterwords.  very strange feeling being out in the ville that night with poeple just sitting around in silence sipping their beers.  went to san antonio for the double kitn and watched us loose to drew brees and drove back to KS two days early before new years eve.  I'm finally ready to let that go, I just hope this is the year.

I think I did tonight.

Know what is so much better now then in "98.  No rough ridin' CCG.  Texas and Okie were right, why let something like that ruin your season.

in '98, I was all "oh man, wish the season was over and we could just go to NC" after beating NU.
Right now I don't want these games to end.  I want to beat all the teams and then play them again and beat their asses again.

did the CCG ever hurt either of them? Texas in 2001? Maybe.

I was there as well Book. I didn't cry. I was more just in a state of disbelief. I also thought we would never sniff that level of success ever again. This time I'm just going to enjoy the ride!

Asked if he views his team in the same light as Alabama, Oregon and Florida, Harper said, "Yes, definitely. We don't get the same love that they get but we definitely have the players they have. We beat Oklahoma but [the pundits] still talk about Oklahoma --- we beat them. Can we get any kind of love, like please?"

I'm going to be really hard to be around for people that aren't big sports fans for the rest of the year, and I don't even want to think about my reaction if we lost a game.

I was out for coffee with a filly Sunday and the game got brought up. I told her about how excited but scared, so very scared she didn't really understand. She thought I should just be happy with the season so far. I Tried to explain to the filly how badly scarred I am from 98. She couldn't understand how something that happened when I was 7 could still hurt so much. So after that i mushed her and left her by herself at Radinia's in Aggieville

I'm ALL in.

No more.."oooh I hope we can beat these guys".

If Kstate wants it...they are going to have to take it.

Tech? GTFO. Haven't played anyone ..and when you did...you went three overtimes vs. TCU's corpse.

Well, that's not entirely true.  They did play OU...if you want to use the term 'play' loosely.

Before the WVU game I had made some great efforts in a tough time schedule to get cold beer so a large party could watch the game together.  My father in law and his brother were the first two to show up, and I tell them to grab a beer.  "Ohhhh no, no beer, we're way too nervous."  I told them to relax, that we'd win, and that they might as well enjoy themselves.  "Nope, no beer, thanks though."  Once it was 17-0 they were drinking and fist pumping and having a good time.  I'm thinking I have them bought in.  It's too fun not to, right?

I was so nervous I was slamming beers. Then I was pretty drunk by halftime and having a hard time believing what was going on.  Was still super nervous until the AB4 pick and subsequent TD.  I don't think I'll start another game nervous until Texas if we are still undefeated, but one slightly mediocre start a la KU would push me pretty close to the edge of the cliff in a hurry.

Post by: Bookcat on October 25, 2012, 11:42:05 AM
We will know early if the team came to play or if Tech will fluke out and keep it close.

KU was only down 1 score at halftime and that was the worst half of football we played all year. Includes Mo. State.
