and maybe a gif request for Brown's fake out on the chest bump? I mean was there anything more magical than that moment of team camaraderie?

omg that was my favorite part of the game. where he ducked under them and lol'd.
-
How about Zim's hands? rough ridin' ball hawk.
-
I did :emawkid: every time the defense popped someone real hard.
So as you can see I did :emawkid: alot.
-
:lynchmob: is back. Bodies be flyin' everywhere!!!1!!
-
Someone explain to me how Brown got the first interception of Geno. That is really just mind boggling to me. What are the odds of that happening two years in a row? Divine intervention right there or something.

So true, so true. :crossfingers:

Generally speaking it's because Arthur Brown is a beast-mode badass.

Klein's Heisman showcase somewhat overshadowed an even more outstanding performance by the Wildcats' defense. Facing an offense that came in averaging 46 points and 385 passing yards, K-State did not allow an offensive touchdown until there was 7:31 remaining and held Smith to his lowest passing total since Holgorsen's arrival. Smith had just broken the NCAA single-season record for pass attempts without an interception (273) when linebacker Arthur Brown picked off a tipped pass early in the third quarter.
"This is as low as it gets," said Smith. "I have never dealt with adversity of this magnitude."
Smith should call up Oklahoma's Landry Jones for solace. The Wildcats did the same thing to him. It's nothing fancy. Defensive ends Meshak Williams (2.5 sacks) and Adam Davis (1.5) bring pressure, Brown (two tackles for loss) stuffs the run and cornerbacks Nigel Malone (two pass breakups) and Randall Evans and safeties Ty Zimmerman (who also had an interceptions) lock down the receivers.
"They've got a great offense," said Malone. "You've got to take that attitude that we're good too.
Now, it's America's turn to appreciate just how good Malone and his teammates really are.

Yeah. But wasn't that is first interception this year and last year as well? Just incredible.

Arthur Brown >= Simoneau ????

Arthur Brown >= Simoneau ????
Easy now. Let's not get ahead of ourselves too much tonight.
-
My favorite post was how on K-State's clubhouse page on ESPN they had that stat about AB being the first to pick off RGIII and Geno, and it was called "Arthur Brown is a stud." Truer words have never been spoken. Collin Klein notwithstanding.
:lynchmob:

I wanted malone to get a int. so hard. He saved our asses so many times last season.
-
Maybe the craziest thing this season?
Zimmerman hasn't fallen victim to the curse.

too late. everyone's already saying this team is better than '98. go back and look at the starting D from '98 and see how many of them played in the nfl. it's just stupid.

I dunno. the offense is definitely more disciplined. ricky williams was averaging like over 200 yards/game when they came to mhk and we held him to 58. they were stupid good. like all-time good.
I love the crap out of this D and this whole team but they're not '98.
-
I say it's close. Offenses score lots more points now and no one has scored more than, what, 21 on us?

Yeah, and Geno Smith came in gaining at LEAST 275 in a bad game and we held him to something like 170?
-
Did you guys see the play where West Virginia ran the ball up the middle on 3rd and short and Arthur Brown just blew through the full back's block to make the tackle? I was like holy eff! I mean the dude is an effin monster

2012 not even close to as athletic, deep, or dominating as 1998 top to bottom. 1998 also had stoops and venables. However, they are very disciplined and assignment sound, and have a few playmakers in the front, middle, and back. They are a very competitive unit, and next week should be great test.

There are probably 5-6 guys on defense that will play in the NFL. Mostly as backups but I think Malone, Zimmerman, Brown, Me-Sack, Tuggle, Lutui, and maybe Walker and Davis will all get a chance in the NFL. The offense is better than the 98 offense. Bishop made a lot of mistakes. It would be a great game if they played.

allowing 16 ppg.
this seems like it's good.
is this good?
-
It is REALLY nice not having to sweat through as many games this year. Granted, I'm sure we'll have at least a few games that will be settled in the 4th quarter, but I've enjoyed the hell out of watching some old fashioned ass kickings. Is it '98? No. Does it matter? Nope.

I feel like Evans doesn't get any credit, but the dude is playing lights out. Yea, we look at ABs INT, but Evans had a set the volley cats would be proud of :lynchmob:
-
This team reminds me of the original Snyder regime where it seemed like every season we played the Heisman winner or runner-up and every time they had their worst game of the season against the 'Cats.
-
Maybe the craziest thing this season?
Zimmerman hasn't fallen victim to the curse.
I've sensed this as well.
-
It's awesome to even talk about comparing this bunch to '98, but if they win the Pepper and the bowl game, whatever it may be, that argument will have been put to rest in my book.
-
Colin Klien, in his humble acceptance speech during the Heisman Trophy presentation, looked at, and genuinely thanked Arthur Brown for being an awseome teammate while Brown himself was in the front row finishing 5th in the voting. :ksu:

No doubt. Even with no real evidence to back it up, I constantly expect Zimz to eff up. Isn't happening.
-
whether or not this d is as good as 98 is irrelevant we have the best defense since 98 and i can live with that
-
I love when he zooms in from off-camera to tackle a rb in the backfield on a sweep. See @isu this year, ut in 2010(?), etc

No, Klien just pick up the trophy, recite the 16 goals and close with a thank you and God bless you

Did anyone else see that for awhile at the start of the game 1Y was playing the nickel corner? I noticed it a few times. I don't know if we were in a dime package or what, but there were definantly a few times we has 1Y on the slot and 2 others playing deep-middle.

I thought 1Y was starting to slide alittle last week by doing some 2Ys diving-at-feet impressions...but then he shrugged off the curse and came back strong last night.
-
The 98 pass defense was exposed in its last three games. 99, now there was a defense.

Noticed this also. Jarrard Milo would generally drop deep on those plays (something Hartman always sucked at) while Evans would play a Rover/Safety hybrid.
Kinda highschoolish but it worked!

isn't the guy with the bad back that can't turn around really good? can't remember if he's evans or what, but that's pretty badass to be playing d1 fball for an undefeated big 12 team when you can't even turn around.

Adam Davis.

Randall Evans is most notably dating Michael Beasley's sister, but he's settling in nicely as a cover corner as well.
-
was it just me or we were delivering more hits at all levels of the game last night, harder than at any point in time this season? Special teams, especially the LBs and secondary were just flying to guys and blowing people the eff up. Brown destroying Geno, kick off coverage.... i mean wow. I don't know how many hits you could only describe with a loud BOOOOOM!

I noticed we've been popping people on D since the Miami game at least.
-
I know it's not defense, but how about that hit on st kickoff?

I also noticed that FOX had some mics on the field that were picking up a lot of noise - trash talking, etc. Made the hits sound extra tough.

Don't know if this is the right spot to put this. Don't know if luked. But boy, I sure laughed at this article and thought maybe my friends on goEMAW.com might laugh and be happy at this little blurb so I'm going to share it with you all:

The Weekend in Shame
Kansas State 55, West Virginia 14: The most common complaints we get at College ShameDay are not about the teams we lambast; they're about the teams we leave out. The Mountaineers, likely incensed that their loss to Texas Tech went unnoticed, decided to do something about it. That something was laying a bigger and more putrid egg at home against Kansas State.
It is possible to overstate how ineffective West Virginia's offense was in this game, but only by resorting to outright lies like, "Geno Smith started hacky-sacking in the second quarter and claimed that he didn't even know what football was." A more measured statement: Going into the game, WVU was averaging six plays of 20 yards or more per contest; its longest play against Kansas State went for 13 yards. The Wildcats disarmed every Mountaineer weapon. For the first time in 25 games, no West Virginia player finished with at least 50 receiving yards.
Dana Holgorsen's offense could muster only 243 total yards by the final whistle, and—here is where we really twist the knife—West Virginia hadn't been held under 250 at home since Dec. 1, 2007. The winning coach in Morgantown that night?
