Title: Another weekend, another Super Bowl
Post by: Shacks on October 12, 2012, 01:06:44 PM
(sorry if Luked)

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State Athletics Department has sold all of its tickets (56,800) for Saturday's football game between the 25th-ranked Cyclones and Kansas State.

Iowa State officials announced today that no more reserved or hillside tickets are available for the highly anticipated game between Big 12 rivals.

"We look forward to having the largest home crowd in Iowa State football history," Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. "It will be a tremendous home field advantage for the Cyclones."

Fans, who have already secured their tickets, are encouraged to arrive early for the 11 a.m. kickoff.

The Cyclones have drawn crowds of better than 54,000 for all three of its home games this fall. Iowa State currently ranks 34th nationally in attendance among Division 1 schools.

The current record for single-game attendance, 56,800, was set on October 13, 2012 when the Cyclones hosted Kansas State. This was the first game Iowa State played as a member of the USA Today Coaches' Poll Top 25 since October 1, 2005 when the Cyclones lost to Nebraska 27-20 in double overtime, and the first time that two ranked teams played at Jack Trice Stadium since Setpember 28, 2002, a 36-14 win over Nebraska.

Will the attendance record count if most of the fans can't get to the game because their cars washed away?

Will the attendance record count if most of the fans can't get to the game because their cars washed away?

I would've guessed the problem would be Jack Trice having enough dock space for boats affecting attendance most.

Tix sold = attendance. Pretty smart, Nubbs has been doing this for years.

The average college football player could probably only put up with 3, maybe 4 Super Bowls in one season before getting all fat and lazy from all the favorable press and adulation and record setting crowds and having ESPN swinging from their nuts non stop.  But no, not KSU.  Big time props to Bill for getting these Katz up to play 12 Super Bowls without a letdown.  Actually make that 13 when you add in the bowl game.

doesn't the stadium only really seat like 45k?  so they'll have like 13k people standing on a muddy hillside in the rain and thunderstorms?  sounds safe.
