so, we are obviously ku's superbowl this year and they want to beat us more than anything.
this got me to thinking though...we are super bowls for a lot of teams. horrible teams like ku and isu see us kicking major "a" and are like "gosh if kstate can do it then we should be able to do it. their whole goal is to just be as good as kstate. then teams like texas and oklahoma are like "oh man we can lose to each other and no big deal but we can't lose to kstate. how embarassing."
i went through the schedule and can safely say that we are the superbowl for every single team we play this year. no other college team has to deal with that on a year in/year out basis. just makes you even more proud of what we accomplish year in and year out knowing that every team we play has us circled on their calendar before the season even starts, huh guys? go cats.

i think this is spot on
-
I heard a lot of midwest supply stores are all out of purple sharpies because everyone is circling the K-State game on their calendars (in purple).
-
The absolute worst is when you work at a big company, with college grads from all over the place, and they are insanely jealous of you and are dicks.
-
I actually heard a conversation this week between a Texas and OU fan. The Texas fan was giving the OU fan a hard time for losing to "the Purple Kansas team". I said, you mean "the Purple Kansas team" that beats UT every year in football and basketball? He just looked at me like I was crazy.
I'm not crazy, am I?
-
they called KState "The New Notre Dame" on ESPN Radio this morning. I don't like it because of the religious implications but I guess it's accurate as far as football goes.

No, soldier. You ain't crazy. That "Purple Kansas team," is gonna knock his team on their asses and carve the longhorn logo into their heads. We like "that one orange team from Texas" in uniforms, so you can spot 'em, just like that. So we're gonna give 'em something they can't take off. How bout it boys?

You will hear the comparisons more and more as KU starts picking up our trash as well.

Question: When was the last time we played a game that WASN'T the super bowl for the opponent?
-
I like the Notre Dame comparison much better than the usual Harvard ones. I get the comparison academically but in sports, Harvard is not even close.

texas a&m last year? :dunno:
although that one is at least debatable as i know many a&m grads and quite a few will tell you that they wanted to beat kstate just as bad if not worse than texas.

amirite?
-
Daris is right. I mean, all I have heard since the OU game is how the conference will be decided when we play WVU in MoonshineSisterTown
-
if you look up and down our schedule, we will be playing twelve games this year where we are without a doubt the superbowl for each opponent. it's just incredible to think about this. NO OTHER SCHOOL HAS TO OVERCOME SOMETHING LIKE THIS!
-
we should change our uniform design so the back of the jersey is an actual target

I like the Notre Dame comparisons, honestly.

I think I like this sock but it's too early to tell.

I like the Notre Dame comparisons, honestly.
considering we are the second most recognizable football program behind Notre Dame, it would make sense that, at some point, we almost morph into what they once were, and then surpass them.
from a campus perspective, it's not even close. their campus is located in the ghetto town of south bend indiana where crime and drugs run rampant. gang affiliation is almost a prerequisite to going to school there. their campus has no character and nothing of interest, and nothing that generates any emotion. the same cannot be said for MHK. the KSU CATS campus which brings with it a true sense of the collegiate experience, nestled deep within the majestic flint hills.
the old saying "every day is a college football saturday in manhattan, while everyday is a friend's funeral in south bend" certainly rings true now more than ever.

Well put, Clams.
