Title: OU memories
Post by: Lefty on September 18, 2012, 11:15:09 AM
-OU 2000. 3rd and 21 late 3rd quarter. Screen pass to the right side of the field. OU runningback breaks 8 tackles and gets the first down. Absolutely destroys momentum.
-Daniel Thomas jump pass
-2009 at OU getting down 21-0 before we could blink an eye......but then we storm back to make it a ball game (Brandon Banks kickoff return)
-2000 Dr. Pepper Game that we should've won

I forget the year exactly, but it was the mid 90s or so and OU sucked. As they were leaving the field a KSU fan yelled at their coach, where are all of those good recruits. The coach turned around and flipped him off and said eff you.

The Cats scored 28 pts. against the Sooners once at a game in Manhattan I attended, Zero U set a then NCAA record of 711 rushing yards at that same game unfortunately, this OU team happened to be one half of the so called "Game of the Century"  '71 NU vs OU later that season.  You're welcome from grandpa.

the upback always signals for the snap, but on the quick punt, the ball is snapped on first sound.  a lot of snappers don't even look back at the punter in this case.  which is what happened to our guy that will not be named here.

I remember the announcer dude giving scores from around the country and then ending with "Kansas State 21, Oklahoma 7" and the crowd going wild. It was the birth of the Classless Cats.

Most enduring OU memories are of the 2000 Dr Pepper and Jarrod Cooper getting destroyed.

I mean it's an obvious one for me, but the 2003 Big 12 Championship. Bought my mom a ticket for the first time (Freshman in college). Mom works in law, so she had to watch serving a minor. However, she brought a nice, chilled, cooler of 4 michelob ultras on ice.  OU scored right away, we go: "oh eff, here we go." Then all of a sudden we take the lead 14-7 with a Ell to Terry connection and my mom turned to young fanning and said: "What do you want to drink?"  #preciousmoments

-OU 2000. 3rd and 21 late 3rd quarter. Screen pass to the right side of the field. OU runningback breaks 8 tackles and gets the first down. Absolutely destroys momentum.

It might have been a different play, and earlier in the game, but I'm pretty sure it was 3 & 26 and it was a touchdown not a first down.  It sucked.

Also,

2001 - This run ----->  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5XOsJR1SAc     :love:

Better with the Brent Mus call "Roberson.....breaks a tackle.....Roberson, still going, he's a tough hombre...... touchdown!" or something like that.   Also, that 2001 game when McGraw laid some dude out and the OU crowd went"oooh." Also, Newman's great int in that game.

Facepalm moment was their ridiculously obvious fake punt right before halftime.

Who knew that we would end up kind of sucking that year?  not me.

Great moment in BSFS for sure.

Crowd was angered up really good.  K-State was #2 in the country, Stoops and the turncoats were coming home for the first time, ABC.  The whole atmosphere was pretty amazing.

When the punt gets blocked around the 7 minute mark the place came unhinged.

I loved in the 2003 broadcast when they start making fun of Pelini for being mad at Bill for 38-9. After Brent recalls the story he almost sighs, "Give me a break". It was so great to hear someone outside of K-State acknowledge how ridiculous that interaction was.

My favorite OU memory was in 2012, when we dick stomped them in Norman and when everyone was saying that Stoops has never lost to a ranked opponent at home. For all of you young whipper snappers, that was the game where Snyder really opened the playbook up which propelled the KSU Catz to the National Championship and Collin Klein to the Heisman. What an awesome year!
